It is interesting how the news media today will jump on a story if it denigrates our military or our country. The media may get their facts from an anonymous source and rush to print it in a major newspaper or weekly magazine. The story may turn out to be inaccurate. The original accuser may even retract his accusations. But, the damage is already done and our media moves on to their next anonymous sourced Anti-American story.
Yet, here tonight there is actual footage of Muslims burning, spitting on, and making urinals out off our American Flag. And, as US citizens we are supposed to get immuned to a lot of this. Many people believe that we even deserve this! We constantly see Muslims spit on and burn effigies of our president, threaten our country with the words (in English) on their posters, spit on the symbols of our nation, and now today, piss on our flag and our president!
You'd think that we would hear more about such inhumanity! You'd think that we would hear about such outrageous acts of disrespect! You'd think that our media would demand that those who do such acts (not just accused of, mind you, but actually filmed doing these things) hang their heads in shame!
But we hear nothing!... Maybe our media expects this?... Maybe our media wants this so they can then put the blame back on us? How else do you explain their silence on such protests? How else do you explain their "quick-glance" approach? How else do you explain their biased reporting on yet another outrageous protest, this time in Mumbai!
Ready to Die for the "Dignity of the Quran".
An accurte report on this protest did make it in All Headline News today:
Protesters in eastern India, burned, spat, and urinated on American flags to protest recent reports of Quran desecration at The Guantanamo Bay naval base.
Despite a recent retraction of the initial story by Newsweek, protesters remained convinced the incident occured.
In another protest earlier this last month Indian Muslims in Calcutta urge a young boy to urinate on an American flag.
Protesters threaten a "disastrous death" for Bush.
According to the Hindustan Times, Muslims protested against the US for Quran abuse at Raza University, today:
The Raza Academy and the All India Sunni Jamiatul Ulema along with several other prominent Sunni muslim organisations held a massive protest rally outside the Sunni Badi Masjid, Madanpura in central Mumbai to protest the abuse of Holy Quran by the American forces at Guantnamo.

Protesters say they are going to lodge a complaint at the World Court against President Bush:
"Till the time US says sorry for the act which has been done by their soldiers or officers this protest would continue," said Maulana Ali Khan, General Secretary, AISJU.
Khan said they are also planning to lodge a complaint with the International Court against Bush and soldiers found guilty of desecration of the Koran.

My favorite part is how the one sign says, "O, Allah: Flush out America from History as it Flushed Your Holy Book (Quran)".
The sign is addressed to *Allah*. In their religion, he presumably knows what his holy book is. Do the muslims in question think he's senile and needs a reminder?
Allah: "They flushed my holy book?!?! Um... Torah, right? *squints, reads sign*. No, wait, Quran! That's it!"

Actually, I think the biggest sin of the media is that they refuse to acknowledge that these "protests" are in fact staged, precisely for their breathlessly waiting cameras. It's a case of strange, and ugly, bedfellows.

Where do Indians get the money to have professional signs made? And in English, no less? I thought India was a poor country.
Most Americans are oblivious to what is going on in other parts of the world, unless they read blogs. Can't depend on our old media for a balanced view.

As to why the signs are in English (and good English, at that), remember that India was part of the British Empire for quite a while, so they would be familiar with English.
That having been said, I do agree that signs at most of these hatefests are probably written in English because they want us to read them. They are already angry at the U.S., so they don't need to stir up their neighbors. They want to stir up OUR neighbors instead.

?!? It's against INTERNATIONAL law to "desecrate" something? anything? I was under the impression that the bureaucrats in Brussels were so agressively secular that they wouldn't even know what "desecrate" means.
I would think the EU folks would say that all those Muslims moving to Europe are desecrating their cultural "no religion unless it's insincere" bubble.
