CNN's Despicable Double Standard

CNN refused to air the Danish Muhammad Cartoons in their news segments on the "Cartoon Riots" saying they did not want to offend viewers. On the weekend of February 4-5, 2006 CNN aired a video clip where they "pixilated" out the Danish Cartoons "so as not to offend." Part of the footage was taken from the Aljazeera News Channel who also pixilated out the images.

Here are the inoffensive images from that CNN broadcast...

CNN and Aljazeera decided it best to "pixilate" Muhammad out of the picture when they aired the segment "so as not to offend."

This cartoon footage taken from Aljazeera shows Muhammad with a bomb as a hat that was highly offensive to Muslims.

But, as National Review reported, CNN did not have a problem airing anti-Semitic cartoons just 4 days later, on Thursday February 9, 2006!

National Review HAS THE VIDEO where they show a number of very offensive Anti-Semitic cartoons as an introduction into a segment with Bill Bennet on Wolf Blitzer.

Here is part of the transcript from yesterday:

BLITZER: You can understand, Bill, that feeling among many Muslims that this is beyond the pale, when you insult....

BILL BENNETT, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: Yes, well, sure.

BLITZER: ... the Prophet Mohammed.

BENNETT: Sure.

And if I were a Jew watching what CNN just led in with, I might be a little upset, too. But CNN doesn't have the solicitude for Jews it has for Muslims. Your policy is not to show these cartoons that were shown in Denmark, but to show one after another of the most anti- Semitic cartoons they could come forward with.

CNN -- I don't mean to pick on CNN, just because I work for you. But NBC, "The New York Times," other media -- the Virgin Mary in cow dung, that was fine. We can show that everywhere. Now, the Islamists have won, in that they have intimidated the major news media from showing these cartoons.

They have lost, however, in the wider world, because people see that this is just totally nutty behavior, that these cartoons are shown and people, as a result, want to kill people, behead people, burn buildings down. And, whatever the argument with the Danes, what is the point of burning the Jewish flag? What is the point of burning the U.S. flag and saying death to Israel and death to the United States?

People get a good, close look at this and say, you know, these people are unhinged.

BLITZER: But, you know, on these -- showing of these anti-Semitic cartoons, I think you will find that most Israelis, certainly most Jews, want the world to see some of these caricatures, in order to shed some light on what the -- images that have been portrayed...
Please! Honestly, Wolf!
I guess it all depends for CNN if you are a Muslim... or a Jew!

Well, at least with CNN it took 4 days, the New York Times only gave it 24 hours after they banned the cartoons before they showed dung on Mary! (I beleieve the Anchoress overheard that NYT discussion!)

The MSM, which favors our permanent withdrawal (surrender) from the liberation of Iraq, is, itself, surrenduring to Islamic fascism. Fascinating. The MSM refusal to publish even the mild Denmark cartoons is bourne not out of respect for Islam, but submission to Islamofascism. It is, of course, natural to the MSM to behave this way. It is impossible for the average MSM member's independant mind to view radical Islam's demands on this issue as anything other than the natural reaction of an oppressed people. Every greivance of any non-Christian non-white person is legitimate in the collective independent mind of the MSM because of Europeon, and particularly U. S., hegemony. Yet this issue is of far greater import for it is one of the very foundations of evolved world freedom that is under attack. Freedom of thought. Thought expressed through the speech of cartoons. I do not know whether this issue will actually cause some introspective thought by the MSM. It is after all, their very world which is now being required to conform to rigid 7th century barbarism. Maybe the MSM will realize that the imperialistic hegemony they so fret over, Marx, and even the U. S., did not exist at the time the Prophet established the rigidly repressive Caliphate and the desire to recreate same is not a reaction to Western freedom. Nope. My mistake. I better go watch the news to find out how not to offend the oppressed. We so deserve this reaction. Let Iran have nuclear weeapons. Tell Bolton to push the U.N. for aide to Hamas.

Our media, the epitome of free speech has decided to give in to threats of violence.

In a Nutshell

One can't put it much more concisely than Jane Biran:

One wonders if the Prophet Muhammad would approve of rioting, grievous bodily harm and arson.

If the answer is yes, then a depiction of his followers as violent is justified. If no, then some of his followers are causing offense to him on a daily basis.

AND (2) FROM MY PET JAWA:

Abu Ghraib and Cartoon Jihad

Ladies and gentleman, I am proud to call Dr. Leopold Stotch a good friend:

there are many people in America and elsewhere in the West are making statements about how the media should self-censor and not publish the Danish cartoons that have sparked several days of Muslim rioting. That’s fine, and their argument isn’t completely without merit.

However, it seems to me that these same people are precisely those who said that censoring the Abu Ghraib prison photos would be an unacceptable restriction on freedom of speech and a betrayal of the media’s allegiance to the truth.

I just want to know.
when will people understand that Anti-Israel does NOT equal Anti-Semetism ?

When will people understand that making fun of Israelis is NOT making fun of Jews?

For the sake of all that is Decent, there are jews that DENOUNCE Israel and do not want to be associated with it, why force them to be associated with it then?

> I just want to know. when will people understand that Anti-Israel does NOT equal Anti-Semetism ?

Well, you might want to learn how to: a) capitalize properly
b) spell "anti-semitism"

before the next time you exercise your Allah-not-given freedom of expression.

> When will people understand that making fun of Israelis is NOT making fun of Jews?

LOL. Go to Iran, Arabia, where ever -- Walk up to an "anti-Israel" protest march and iell them you're Jewish, but don't like Israel either. Let's see how much they really care before they kick your ass.

> For the sake of all that is Decent, there are jews that DENOUNCE Israel

Well, there's two phrases that don't belong in a single sentence. Does it still qualify as an oxymoron? Does it help any that it's uttered by a moron?

You are going to lose, but you're going to make it as painful as possible... but, just in case you win, enjoy your newfound status as one of the neoniggers of the Caliphate: "Yassuh, massah Ibn, suh!"

Lets drop any pc charade and come out and say it. Most people here hate muslims. They're all terrorists, backward savages, illiterate towlheads, narrowminded wifebeaters etc.
The focus of discussion here is so far right I think truth and respect of opinion isn't to be expected(critising spelling, calling people neoniggers and morons).
I think supporters of pres. bush whinging about the media is absurd. The Bush establishment has a very tight control on the media. If somebody asks the wrong(traitorous?) type of question in a white house press conference they have their press passes revoked. I'm from Europe and American news is viewed here as being very pro government(Fox is hillarious).
The "double standard" revealed in this searing piece of on-line journalism has a picture of a sterotypical Jewish man with Bush on his arm, not an incitive piece trying to break core codes of Judaism. The Muslim community are suffering a lot and on edge(blame it on whoever you want) and feel like they're being persecuted.

And as for "However, it seems to me that these same people are precisely those who said that censoring the Abu Ghraib prison photos would be an unacceptable restriction on freedom of speech and a betrayal of the media’s allegiance to the truth.
Ok one is a very insulting cartoon of a religous figure. The other is hidden footage of soldiers beating and torturing prisoners. If CNN wanted to really join the pro" islamo fachist"(I think thats a silly term) brigade they'd try censor beheadings or something.

I really wish the metrosexual Eurotrash whose grandparents started the past two world wars and brought the term "concentration camp" into the lexicon would resist the temptation to lecture Americans on what freedom is or how bad our breathtakingly bad non-government owned media (as opposed to the government run BBC?) while the EU brusselsprouts are still figuring out HOW they can suppress the media which does take freedom of expression seriously in a bid to placate the islamofascist neighbors that their perennially idiotic hosts are unwilling to return to the stone age holes they crawled out of. I know that the finer points of accuracy are not covered in your media, but the only person who was ejected from the Bush press core was Jeff Gannon, a Bush supporter, by his fellow "reporters", no less, for not being from the "correct" political persuasian; and the "Tight control" you speak of belies the constant stream of anti-bush tirades that passes for non-biased journalism in the U.S. Please post *A* link to a journalist who has been intimidated or threatened by Bush.

Do I hate muslims?: Yes I do. For far better reasons that you could muster for not hating those who target my fellow countrymen, kill innocents for their 7th century god pimp, and threaten my civil liberties. Not all of today's muslims are terrorists, but most of today's terrorists are muslims, and the ones who aren't can't seem to get their panty headgear in a bunch about the daily atrocities unless it insults their child-molesting, wifebeating prophet.

To anonymous IV @ 6:43 pm:

That's the way to slap down that filthy Eurotrash, my friend. It seems, though, that you might have left out the reason why France, Belgium, Germany and other European states have staunchly supported their Arab-Islamofascist conquerors. Specifically, their ingrained, historical hatred of the Jews drove them to embrace a primitive culture whose socio-political theology tells them that God himself has called for the slaughter of Jews. These people actually look forward to the day when rocks and trees will call out to them and tell them where the Jews are hiding so they can kill them. Even Hitler in all his kookiness never believed THAT was going to occur. So where Hitler, France and the rest of the collaborators failed in their efforts to wipe out the Jews, they see their future success in the transformation of their continent into Eurabia. Unfortunately, I fear that they may actually succeed.
