The Black Panthers say if they don't get their justice there will be no peace in the Durham community.

Duke University is reporting:
"We have not come to play the race card," Shabazz told members of the media, who outnumbered his New Black Panther Party contingent, as the 10:30 a.m. demonstration began. "Racism existed before we got here. Racism existed at Duke University long before we got here."

Shabazz unveiled eight demands by the group, which included the “vigorous” investigation and prosecution of the alleged sexual assault that occurred during the party held by Duke men’s lacrosse players, the expulsion of all Duke students involved and an end to “private” meetings between Duke President Richard H. Brodhead, North Carolina Central University Chancellor James H. Ammons and Durham Mayor William Bell.

Nearly 60 members of the Durham community, including university employees, students and faculty, strained to hear the speeches over the din created by two TV station helicopters hovering overhead.

After the speeches were completed, Shabazz requested permission to march onto campus. Robert Dean, director of the Duke University Police Department, citing a prior agreement that the demonstration would not enter campus property and the desire of the university to avoid disruption during the start of the exam period for students, denied that request.

Shabazz and his followers then marched along Duke University Road, across campus on Anderson Street and up Hillsborough Road and Markham Street to the house at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd.

The New Black Panthers gathered outside the main entrance to Duke. (News 14)

The mother of the accuser said the family had not invited the Panthers to Durham:

Shabazz said the community has eight demands, among them a trial and conviction for the defendants in the case and that the indicted students and other involved should be expelled.

The accuser's mother in the case told WRAL that family members did not ask the group to come to Durham, and they don't want their help. Some allege the New Black Panthers Party is a separatist group and it is in the area to take advantage of the situation.

Did anyone see Shabazz character on Fox's Dayside? It was not pretty. He was incredibly disrespectful to the "alleged victim's" father, who Shabazz has accused of making statements to the media when he [the father] doesn’t know what’s going on and he said that the father is damaging the case. Shabazz said that he has told the father to quit talking to anyone about this case. Shabazz was really nasty to both Mike and Juliette, who were nothing but congenial and pleasant to him. Instead of answering their direct questions, he would respond with a question of his own: when asked who invited his group, Shabazz’s response was “Well, who invited you?” Shabazz was asked a couple more times and couldn’t give a straight answer – we are left to believe that “the community” invited him, whoever “the community” is. Then, Shabazz accused Mike and Juliette of trashing the alleged victim, told them that he has seen the evidence and that there WILL be a conviction – and when asked if the DA was sharing evidence with him, his response was “I’ve seen the medical reports.” [Yeah, okay, and your point would be?] If Shabazz’s appearance on the show was to try to let the rest of the world that the Black Panther’s had a purpose to be in Durham, I’d say he failed miserably.

Shabazz has seen the medical reports?? Sure he has. I am so sure the victim signed away her medical and legal privacy rights over to this racist pig. IF (a big if) he had seen them, could he understand them? I doubt it.
It is a good thing the family told the media they want nothing to do with the Black Panthers. Accepting and/or requesting help from such an obviously racist group with a personal agenda would only hurt their case.

I wonder what's the next "political group" to use this stripper's claim as a launching pad?

If the black panters hurt anyone in their protests or after trial riots, are they going to face "hate crimes" charges?

I participated in the rally...nothing but a show of federal agents as they continue to use this case for their own motives.

C.P.

This is a young lady that sells sex as a profession. It's not a case of race, it's a case of did she consent or not. So it's her word against the word of the players that are accused.

The defense's case is already damaged by the fact that she is an exotic dancer and escort, has claimed she was raped three times before and dropped all three of those charges, and has the Black Panthers screaming at Duke.

Even though the family of the woman wants nothing to do with the Black Panthers, the presence of that hate-filled racist organization will cost them the case.

The Black Panthers say Duke is a racist school? Can we go ahead and label the local black college as a school for hookers? You can't blame Duke for the alledged actions of just a few.

The Black Panthers say there will be no peace in Durham if there is not a guilty verdict. Well, if I'm the mayor of Durham, I'd get ready to call in the national guard and get the FBI ready to start making a slew of arrests of Black Panther members.

These animals need to start focusing their efforts more on teaching the other animals of their race how to behave in a CIVILIZED society! This is not the jungle despite what many of them think! They came here in chains and can be returned the same way!
