Democrats have thrown low blows plenty of times at the military but this throbbing crotch shot fired at US marines who are charged and not convicted of any crime is a disgrace. Shame on John Murtha!

John Murtha goes one step closer to "Osama is really in Kansas" today in claiming US marines slaughtered "many more innocent Iraqis than originally reported".
This is not the first time that bogus charges have been brought against US forces but certainly they are a first for a supposed hawk.
John Murtha says marines killed Iraqis in cold blood:
A March 27 Time magazine report published claims by an Iraqi civil rights group that the Marines barged into houses near the bomb strike, throwing grenades and shooting civilians as they cowered in fear. The report prompted calls for a Pentagon probe.The US military is wondering where he is getting his information:
“It’s much worse than was reported in Time magazine,” Murtha, a Democrat, former Marine colonel and Vietnam war veteran, told reporters on Capitol Hill.
“There was no firefight. There was no [bomb] that killed those innocent people,” Murtha explained, adding there were “about twice as many” Iraqis killed than Time had reported.
No official investigation report has been released by the Pentagon and a spokesman for Murtha was unable to add to the congressman’s remarks.
“I do not know where Rep. Murtha is obtaining is information,” said Lt. Col. Sean Gibson, a spokesman for Marine Corps Forces Central Command in Tampa, Fla. “Thoroughness will drive the investigation.”Newsbusters has his interview tonight on Hardball where he defends his "in cold blood" accusations:
Three Marine officers from the battalion that is under investigation, including battalion commander Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, were relieved April 7 for “lack of confidence in their leadership abilities stemming from their performance during a recent deployment to Iraq.” Officials would not tie those firings to the Haditha investigation, however. The two other Marines who were relieved, Capts. Luke McConnell and James Kimber, were company commanders within the battalion.
MURTHA: Well I'll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we're gonna take care...we don't know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and actually killed civilians and...I...The Political Pitbull has the video.
MATTHEWS: Was this My Lai? When you say cold blood Congressman, a lot of people think you're basically saying you've got some civilians sitting in a room or out in a field and they're executed on purpose...
MURTHA: That's exactly what happened.
MATTHEWS: ...not because any of the Marines are scared or anybody is scared...
MURTHA: ...this was not an action...this was not...first they tried to say it was an IED, there was no IED involved in this. This was troops, they were so stressed out, they went into houses and killed children, women and children. 24 people they killed.
Earlier this week Murtha called for pullout of troops from Iraq in a commencement speech at Seton Hill University. This did not go over well then and there are still people upset with his shameful politicking.
One student even walked out on his outrageous speech!
How sad it is that this anti-war leftist continues to use bogus numbers in justifying his surrender plans.
Earlier today Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Mliki announced that he will unveil his cabinet on Saturday.

Where does Murtha get his information? Is it the human rights outfit or a leak from the pentagon? If anyone in the military is charged how can they get a fair trial?
Laura - Times Magazine did an 'investigation'. Now Murtha has come out with these outrageous allegations.
My blood is boiling. I've never known a Marine that would turn against other Marines. He's a traitor.

What makes you all so certain that this didn't happen? Of course, everyone must hope it isn't true...but it's still under investigation!
If its still under investigation, John Murtha has no business proclaiming the "guilt" of these people.
Murtha should be removed from the Marine Corps honor roll afforded to all Marines, because once a Marine always a Marine, until Murtha came along. I for one disown him.

As for the rest of you who so quickly deem Murtha a "traitor", why don't you consider what that word actually means. If Murtha and TIME are exposing a real crime here, they help our credibility because they make people accountable for their actions. You chickenhawk pimps aren't worthy of carrying Murtha's combat medals. If you knew anything about marines - but you don't becuase you're chickenhawks - you'd know that no one - NO ONE - is more upset by the Haditha events than good marines, like Jack Murtha.
It was the military that wouldn't let My Lai be swept under the rug by the politicians, and it'll be the marines that make sure the truth about Haditha sees the light of day.
Murtha hasn't betrayed the marines. The punks who put the barrel of a gun to the skull of a child betrayed the marines, their country and their flag.

No Justin, WE don't look bad, the Democrats who are forever sowing the freedom, liberty and justice mantra look bad, when they now conveniently abandon the idea of any constitutional rights by suggesting that we should be allowing a Congressman to deal his own prejudicial out of court verdict, whilst we have an official investigation in progress.
Then you go on to suggest that we should replace Murtha with the more qualified MSNBC to be the judge and the jury. They are even more qualified, right?

Please note that the accusations on the Marines have been aired by Time and Murtha but the Marines and their defense team have not made any statements on the case. This means we have really only heard one side of the argument so far. I'll withhold judgement until I get more info.

Why cant the rest of you just chill out? Congressmen talk for a living and they talk a lot. While it appears one way today it might turnout to be something else if the investigation gets wrapped up. Given Bush's attraction to make unpleasent war news secret I think its good to keep the preasure on. Our people over there are not pawns on a chessboard and I think its time this country and its president come to terms with that fact. What has Bush asked us to sacrafice? Seems like the Soldiers and their families are the only ones being damaged by this war.
Strange then that the United States Marine Corps agrees with Murtha, isnt it?
