The Only Good Democrat...

Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee, D-Texas., sits in the backseat of a police squad car after being arrested during a demonstration outside the Sudanese Embassy as part of a protest against genocide in Sudan's embattled Darfur region, Friday, April 28, 2006 in Washington. (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)

The libs continued their silly protesting on Sunday.

Texas Rainmaker said it best:

George Clooney is complaining that the U.S. is waiting too long to send troops into Sudan:

"Is the American government slow to act? Of course we’re slow to act, we always are," Clooney said... (Except, of course, in Iraq, where we needed to wait another 10 years and another 14 UN resolutions!)

...So now they want to send troops into an oil-rich, predominantly Muslim country, with suspected ties to al-Qaida and WMDs, that’s experiencing genocide?

How very chicken-hawkish of them.
And, from Instapundit:

Jose Guardia emails: "Yeah, it's great that some people are marching against the genocide in Darfur; and no, I can't understand either why for them for them it's OK to intervene militarily in Darfur and it wasn't in Iraq. Anyway, just wait until -if- Bu$Hitler starts making plans for an intervention. You'll see how fast they start chanting 'No War.'"
Question: What are the libs going to do if the negotiations fail?
Answer: Dust off the paper-mache' and hold another rally.

And, yes, I am all for taking action on Darfar.

Atlas Shruggs, who has been follwoing the Darfur story closely, has much on Sunday's "tongue without bones" protest including this:

They came out as one to demand the Bush administration push harder. If they did their homework, they'd know that Bush is not the problem. If they did their homework they'd know Bush has been Sisyphus pushing an apathetic, yellow bellied, paralyzed UN and an even less engaged European community. If they did their homework they'd know NATO has refused to send troops to Darfur. If they did their homework they'd know the AU peacekeepers are scared to death and incapable of saving or protecting those people. Darfur needs NATO.

Action in Darfur wouldn't even take a battalion, with good helicopter support. The problem there mainly are thugs who are incapble of fighting anyone with a gun. It might save a lot of lives.

Eventually, Pan-Africa is going to have to put together an effective professional force not interested in raping and pillaging everywhere they go to take care of issues like this one.

Darfur was never about the ability of the military to handle a rag-tag militia like the janjiweed, but about another perceived attack on Muslims. That is why the US has done its best to get African states and the Europeans to do something, anything, about the genocide going on there.

Frankly, if the Europeans are so hapless as to not even intervene in Darfur, where would they take action? A short answer is nowhere.

As for Africa putting together an effective force, I'm not confident that is even possible. Africa is a continent in crisis, and is the likely place for the next big push from the jihadists, expecially with the lack of success in Iraq and the lack of action by the rest of the World in Darfur. Fertile breeding grounds for jihadists, and more misery for Africans is how I see this thing playing out.

Let the U.N. and E.U. handle Dafur.

After all the B.S. out of them and their LLL supporters about the United States in the last 5 years I have had enough of these hypocrites. They say they are so much better then we are-here is their chance to prove it.

i passed by the san francisco gathering at crissy field. what a bunch of phonies. where were these pathetic losers 4/5 years ago when serious people stated, in no uncertain terms, that the sudanese government should rounded up and executed for crimes against humanity. where were they when bush called it genocide. they argued then that bush had no right to call it genocide and the UN appointed sudan to it human rights chair. i posted then that these vultures would show up and demand action when everybody was dead. ok, i was wrong–there’s a few still living. most of these people should be taken out and horse whipped. being church goers doesn’t excuse being morons when it leads to millions dead. and here’s the hard cold reality–they don’t give a s**t about darfur they just want the t-shirt. as they said on the south park episode–people like these go around smelling their own farts.
they directed all their complaints against Bush and company thus giving themselves/motives away. rally the vote in an election year. had they been sincere, their faux rage would have been directed at the UN and radical islam for sanctioning this continued wanton slaughter. not a word was heard in this direction.

that said, i suppose there has been some progress on their part--i didn't see any "save tibet" placards.........
