** The Republican- It took the search team 12 hours to reach Pfc. Kristian Menchaca of Houston and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker of Madras, Ore., because soldiers had to make their way through numerous explosive devices set along the road and around the bodies themselves.
** Front Page- They had been so horribly mutilated with their eyes gouged out and their remains so desecrated a visual identification was impossible – DNA testing was needed in order to confirm their identities. CNN also reported that not only were the bodies booby-trapped, but homemade bombs also lined the road leading to the victims, an apparent effort to complicate recovery efforts and kill recovery teams.
** The Herald- "He was identified through fingerprints," Esther Garcia, public affairs officer at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, told The Brownsville Herald.
** LA Times- "The two bodies, severely traumatized, were found bound together with an IED [makeshift bomb] between one of the soldiers' legs," it said.

So what really happened to Menchaca and Tucker? Their immediate supervisor broke the cardinal rule if I understand correctly. He divided his forces to chase the bait with all but three men left behind to be slaughtered by the enemy's forces coming from the rear. Remind you of Custer? Remind you of catastrophe? Never divide your forces without thorough investigation and the timely support from higher command.

These soldiers died for a noble cause- protecting a fledgling democracy and finishing off al Qaeda in Iraq. I can't help but laugh at all the ridiculous "religious warfare" lingo going on in there, like we're in the crucades again or something. Come on? This is no war between good and evil; God's not on America's side! It's not suprising that this stuff is going on, because Islam is a religion that teaches revenge and the US troops grew up in a culture that believes morals aren't absolute so they go around murdering Iraqis and raping their women.
