Iraqi Vet Joshua Sparling & Freepers Crash Anti-War Bush Bash

The members from Free Republic website stuck out at yesterday's anti-war bash in Washington DC.

Lots of readers watched Fox & Friends this morning and e-mailed about the disgusting greeting card a wounded soldier received while hospitalized at Walter Reed Army Hospital.Lisa at Two Babes and a Brain was at Walter Reed and recounts the story here.
The card front, decorated with patriotic and holiday stamps, was deceptively innocuous. But, when you take a look inside it says "P.S. DIE".
According to Kilmeade, who visited Walter Reed on Friday, a US Army soldier named Joshua Sparling received the death wish while recovering from a gunshot wound he received in Ramadi, Iraq. It's the only Christmas card he received.
In an update in December of 2006, Michelle had this on Pfc. Joshua Sparling:
Fox News, bloggers, and talk radio coverage prompted an outpouring of support for Pfc. Sparling. (He received over 8,000 Christmas cards after the story broke last year!)But, that did not stop Joshua Sparling from "standing up" for his country yesterday in Washington DC while others were there to trash it.
Now, a year later, he is still at Walter Reed. Pfc. Sparling recently underwent surgery and is recovering from a leg amputation.

Not that anyone cares but the card that you're referring to was spotted by Lisa from Two Babes and a Brain. She then took a photo of it that Kilmeade showed on the air without ever giving her credit. I know this sounds a little trivial but I was there and it just wasnt right he didn't give her credit.

Anti-war protesters spray paint Capitol building

Anti-war protesters were allowed to spray paint on part of the west front steps of the United States Capitol building after police were ordered to break their security line by their leadership, two sources told The Hill.
According to the sources, police officers were livid when they were told to fall back by U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Phillip Morse and Deputy Chief Daniel Nichols. "They were the commanders on the scene," one source said,who requested anonymity. "It was disgusting."
After police ceded the stairs, located on the lower west front of the Capitol, the building was locked down, the source added.

You may want to double check Sparling's rank. You typed that he is a Colonel (abbreviated as Col.) You probably meant to type CPL (Corporal), which is an E-4.
Ugh, I detest Freepers. Without press confirmation, I'd say this spitting incident is much ado about nothing. I was at the march and it was a lovely, spirited unification of peace-loving Americans of all political stripes. If something like this really happened, I would need proof -- white supremacist blogs like FR do not count as reliable sources.

I didn't expect or want you to change your post. I just wanted to set the record straight. But thanks for taking the time to verify my assertion and making the change nonetheless.

Yes, please fix the rank - unless Sparling got a direct commission the likes of which we've never seen, he's probably just a Corporal/CPL like Airborne Vet said.
