Now she's suing the school with help from Liberty Counsel.

No big deal. Swap 'Jesus' for 'Hillary' and see how you feel. She still graduated. Good luck to her.

Sure, Colorado, go ahead and litigate. It's not your money that's paying the lawyers anyway.

Asside from the freedom of speech issue... Let me get this straight, all her records now state she is a high school graduate with honors. But they won't give her the piece of paper? Boy, does that seem petty and stupid.

If she had said allah instead. She probably wouldn't have had anything happen to her. And, I don't know which is worse, that that is most likely true, or that there are probably a lot of people out there that believe it is most likely true.

  5. What often gets missed on issues like this is that they are categorizes as freedom of speech issues. The very first freedom mentioned in the first amendment is the freedom of relgion and the the free practice of that religion. Prefacing those enumerated freedoms; religion, speech, press and assembly, is the stipulation that Congress shall make no law prohibiting this free practice of religion. Nowhere does it say anything about where or when that is appropriate. So it is quite Orwellian for the school to ascert that they are within Constitutional bounds. They have denied her civil liberties in several levels and I hope she forces them to make a public apology.

  6. iopian,

I hope she forces them to cough up so much money she will never have to work a day in her life.

I hope she bankrupts that school district and all the school officials involved.

This seems so blatant that even the ACLU would have to file an amicus (on behalf of the plaintiff).
