These examples are just two instances of media distortion from yesterday:
NewsBusters reported how CBS edited the words of Hillary Clinton to make her sound less divisive:
The media is purposely trying to make socialist Hillary sound like more of a centrist with their cuts and editing.CBS, the Rathergate network, offered up another misleading report. The August 8 edition of "The Early Show,"at 7:09 AM, edited a Hillary Clinton quote from the August 7 AFL-CIO debate to portray her as a populist.
JOIE CHEN: Front-runner Clinton also came up against sharp elbows with rivals accusing her of cozying up to big-money lobbyists. Before thousands of union members, the New York Senator sought to portray herself as champion of the little guy.CLINTON: So if you want a winner who knows how to take them on, I'm your girl. What she actually said was in the context of her preference in attacking the Republicans. The full quote is much more divisive than portraying herself "as champion of the little guy."CLINTON: "For 15 years I have stood up against the right-wing machine and I've come out stronger. So if you want a winner who knows how to take them on, I'm your girl."
The liberal media also grossly distorted their coverage of Mitt Romney yesterday.
Townhall reported on the liberal ambush and media distortion of Republican Mitt Romney:
Hat Tip LarwynRachel Griffiths, a member of the "Quad City Progressive Action for the Common Good" asked Romney (AP photo) the "why are your kids chickenhawks".
Question: "Thank you so much for being here and asking for our comments and I appreciate your recognizing the Iraq War veteran. My question is how many of your five sons are currently serving in the U.S. military and if none of them are how do they plan to support this war on terrorism by enlisting in our U.S. military? The AP left out both the text of the question and all of the italicized comments. Nice reporting, eh?
Romney: The good news is that we have a volunteer Army and that's the way we're going to keep it. My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard.
I also respect and value very very highly those who make the decision to serve in the military. And I think we ought to show an outpouring of support just as I suggested, a surge of support for those families and for those individuals who are serving. My niece, for instance, just to tell you what a neighborhood can do and how touching it can be, my niece Misha --living out west-- her husband, I think he got a call on a Tuesday, he's in the National Guard, he got a call on a Tuesday that he was going to be called up and shipped overseas on a Thursday, and they'd just bought a home, they hadn't landscaped it, but the rules in the neighborhood were that unless you got your home landscaped within a year of the time that you bought your home, they began fining you because they didn't want people having mudholes in front of their homes. And she was very worried, and just before the year expired, she woke up one morning and looked out the window and all the neighbors were out there rolling out sod, putting up trees, getting it all done. It is remarkable how we can show our support for our nation.
One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping to get me elected because they think'd I be a great president (laughter) and my son Josh bought the family Winnibago and has visited 99 counties most of them with his three kids and his wife, and I respect that and all of those and the way they serve this great country.
The Romney campaign quickly released the YouTube video of the exchange, though given the fundamental inability of the chickenhawk meme to move the average American voter, and the widespread rejection of such logic by the uniformed military, it might have been better to let the "controversy" play out a bit as a way of demonstrating how in the bag the AP is to the anti-war fringe.
The media also forgot to mention, as NewsBusters also reported, that the AP failed to mention that the questioner is a known Far-Left radical with a significant record of antiwar activism.
This media bias is getting frightening.

I think it is about time the nation considers the major media outlets simply organs of the Democratic Party. Remember the open rejoicing when the Democrats took over the Congress in '06? "You go girl!"? I think they have dropped the masquerade of objectivity and will now simply serve as "shock troops" (yes, a Beauchamp reference), for the Democratic effort to take the White House in '08. Remember that "Fake, but accurate" nearly worked in 04. Expect to see much more of it in future, and all of it in support of Democratic positions and candidates.
ReplyDeleteTo expand on your point. Conservatives need to gain control of the education of the people. That was the failing of the last election. When NY votes in someone as senator who will never perform the job, when MD and PA vote empty suits in for senators, its because those people were educated to move forth and do so. Conservatives need to gain control of where the people get their education on such matters.

ReplyDeleteNote the following: It pays exactly $25 for Tucson kids to stay in school
Local high school students will soon be cashing in for hitting the books.
A new pilot program promises to pay them to stay in school.
More than 20,000 Arizona teens dropped out of the class of 2006.
To fight the problem, 75 students from low income families at Amphi High and 100 from Rincon high were picked for the new program.
The students will get $25 a week as an incentive to stay in school.
My question is why aren't the parents being fined $25/day because their spawn aren't in school?
Romney's sons have done missionary work. That means helping those who are not able to help themselves. Is that somehow less noble than serving in the military? And I thought socialist/liberals were against hunger and for fighting poverty. How many of them have done missionary work? If a socialist has not done any missionary work does that make them hunger chickenhawks?
ReplyDelete"This media bias is getting frightening."
ReplyDeleteNope, just recognize it for what it is, propaganda. It has been such for 80 years or more.
Google "Walter Duranty" to see how the New York Slimes ignored the mass starvation and slaughter of 12 million Ukranians in 1932-33 at the hands of Stalin. They still have Duranty's name in their place of honor.
The more I research, the more I am amazed at the propaganda I have been fed during my lifetime.

ReplyDeletemongo.. so true.. *sigh*
aside from the MSM, just thought i'd mention the Clinton's also have a little side business going.. Captian's Quarters posted an informative write up about it back on April 23, 2006..
excerpt:
[A private investment group whose board of directors includes President Clinton made a bid yesterday to take over a dozen daily newspapers owned by Knight Ridder, including the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Mr. Clinton serves as a senior adviser to the Yucaipa Companies, a Los Angeles-based investment firm that has joined with a journalists' union, the Newspaper Guild, to seek control of the 12 newspapers and gradually transfer ownership to the news outlets' employees. ..]

ReplyDeleteDon't forget to refer to him as "Pulitzer Prize winning accomplice to mass murder and genocide, Walter Duranty!
"This media bias is getting frightening"
ReplyDeletePeople I think are starting to recognize this bias in very sizable numbers...
Did anyone see this linked on Drudge today: US public sees news media as biased, inaccurate, uncaring: poll
More than half of Americans say US news organizations are politically biased, inaccurate, and don't care about the people they report on, a poll published Thursday showed ( there is more )
Rasmussen Reports had the following back in July of this year: Americans See Liberal Media Bias on TV News
By a 39% to 20% margin, American adults believe that the three major broadcast networks deliver news with a bias in favor of liberals. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 25% believe that ABC, CBS, and NBC deliver the news without any bias.
Similar results are found for CNN and National Public Radio (NPR). By a margin of 33% to 16%, Americans say that CNN has a liberal bias. The nation’s adults say the same about NPR by a 27% to 14% margin.
There is one major exception to the belief that media outlets have a liberal bias—Fox News. Thirty-one percent (31%) of Americans say it has a bias that favors conservatives while 15% say it has a liberal bias.
When it comes to delivering news without bias, 37% believe NPR accomplishes that goal. Thirty-six percent (36%) say the same for Fox and 32% believe it’s true of CNN. As noted earlier, just 25% believe the major broadcast networks deliver news in an unbiased manner. Results for other media outlets will be released over the next week. ( there is more )
