Senator Larry Craig was arrested in June in a Minnesota airport restroom by a plainclothes police officer investigating lewd conduct Roll Call reported today.

There were also rumors during last year's elections that Senator Craig had approached a male in the men's room at the Washington DC Union Station.
Today we see that Senator Craig was powerless over this lewd behavior.

ReplyDeleteHere in Idaho, the Senator can just sit back and coast on the predominate rhetoric and overwhelming Republican majority. There have been rumors about his homosexuality for years. But when you're never truly questioned, and you think you (and your party) are omnipotent, you can fool yourself into thinking you have carte blanche and will never get caught. Another case of Republican duplicity and feeling they are above the rules?

ReplyDeleteThe only problem as I see it is the Democrats don't care about the quality of their candidates. So we have a time and quality constraint on our time line to repopulate congress.
Unfortunately, the heir apparent for Craig's seat is the worst sort of weasel and political lifer. He is famous for his rages, threats, and his giagantic ego. His name is Jim Risch, and he's already older than most of the sitting Senators. If you're hoping for a breath of fresh air from Idaho, think again.
ReplyDeleteHe was found guilty of disorderly conduct - stemming from his behavior when the cop confronted him - not lewd conduct.
ReplyDeleteBetter make sure you never tap your foot when you're in a public bathroom from now on, and I guess keep your suitcase on your lap rather than near the door - you might be getting into a mess you don't want to be in.
I know no one wants to think about this given that its someone like Larry Craig and another dude, and maybe I'm ridiculously naive, but how do you even *do* anything in a public bathroom (in a busy airport! and allegedly in Union Station allegedly!! ) with a stall divider between you? Do you have to chisel a hole in the divider yourself? I thought thats why people went to highway rest stops for this kind of thing.
This really makes me never want to go into a public bathroom again.
Just make sure you don't linger at the stall door looking through the crack by the hinges for two minutes while fiddling with the latch.
