Peace Activist Axes Dutch Student to Death Over Iraq War

"He hates soldiers and says that the army kills people, so it would be legitimate if he were also to kill someone ... from the American military or from its NATO allies."

Attorney for Carlos Hartmann
Antiwar Activist and Axe murderer
An American antiwar activist butchered a Dutch student with an axe.
He was upset that the Netherlands had sent troops to fight in Iraq!

The murdered student, Thijs Geers, was waiting on the train platform when he was axed to death over "the war of Bush."

The antiwar activist spent the night in a forest outside a barracks in the Netherlands. Because he was unable to attack the barracks, he went to the train station and killed a 22 year-old student with an axe instead!
Russian RIA Novosti reported on the peace activist driven to kill:

THE HAGUE, September 11 (RIA Novosti) - A 41-year-old American attacked and killed a Dutch student, 22, as a protest against the Netherlands' involvement in the war in Iraq, the ANP news agency said Tuesday.

The attack took place Sunday evening when the American attacked the student with an axe in the waiting hall at a train station in the Dutch city of Roosendaal.

The American, whose name has yet to be released, was arrested at the scene of the crime. The student later died from his injuries in the hospital.

ANP reported that the American arrived in the Netherlands with the express intention of carrying out attacks on the Dutch military in revenge for the country's decision to send troops to Iraq.

However, after spending the night in a forest next to a military barracks, he eventually settled upon the student as a suitable victim.
Expatica is carrying this horrible story of the peace activist axe attack.

Dutch News is also reporting on the brutal murder.
WOOD8 reports that the antiwar killer, Carlos Hartmann, is from Michigan.

MORE... BN/De Stem quoted a witness who asked to remain anonymous as describing Hartmann as striking the victim in the back of the head with the axe. It also quoted an unidentified family member from the United States as saying Hartmann has suffered from emotional problems since his early 20s- AP.

  6. islam = peace

pacifists believe in peace 'at any price'

Neither group bothers to mention that it is the peace of Death for anyone who opposes them.

    This Will Get Worse.

  7. The problem is that he will only get a short sentence because the Europeans don't believe in the death penalty or harsh sentences. He sentenced a man to death and he won't even get life. He should join his victim.

  8. Well, thank (insert deity of preference here) we have "peace" activists like this to murder...in the name of "peace", of course.

  9. Wow. I don't even know why this guy is labelled a peace activist - how peaceful is it to axe a young man to death. Next thing you know, they will be telling us he was a Christian. The guy needs to be put out of our misery - bring back the guillotine.

  10. otter,

You are correct and it will get worse.

I fully expect some of our "peace activists" to pull the same shite here. In fact I would not be surprised that the first splodydope in the US turns out to be some LLL "peace/animal rights/environmentalist activist".

But take heart, all is not lost.

    Yet.

There will come a time when people will have had enough of the Islamofascists and their LLL allies. That time will be a very ugly time in which the LLL's will pay the same price the Islamofascists will. Unfortunately for the LLL's I don't think they will have 72 virgins waiting for them.

Congrats on an American being the first person ever in the Netherlands to kill somebody with an axe without any sensible reason.

  12. Hmmmm... nice!

You just had to blame America for this somehow.

Even though this was an activist who hates America.

You no doubt want to steer the thread into bashing Europeans.

On the contrary, thank you to the Netherlands for the help that you have given us in the War on Terror.

I commend brave Dutchmen and women like Theo van Gogh and Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

Its too bad that "antiwar" activists are doing Al Qaeda's job by committing terrorist acts against the West.

We should stand united against such barbarians.

No he was not a "peace activist", The murderer was a former US soldier. (So statistically more likely to be a Christian than a muslim if we are going for stereotypes.)

  14. Funny how these "peace" activists never attack a Muslim who is advocating terrorism, genocide, and theocratic tyranny. They're not for peace, just on the other side.

I live in the US and visiting my family in the Netherlands, right now.
They live in Roosendaal where it all happend.
It didn't happen on Sunday, but on Saturday evening around 08.00pm.
This guy 1st wanted to kill a military, but that plan didn't work, so he took a life of an innocent boy of 22. I hope they will send him back to the US, so he can do the time, he deserves, cause over here, they are too soft.
It's so terrible and they should punish this guy with the chair in the US.

  17. Sophie, if they can prove that his intent was to kill a serviceman the the death penalty might be in order, but he would be required to have a defense lawyer.

BTW, freedomnow he can blame the US as long as he extradites the perp back here. No extradite, no talk. We'll put him down like the dog that he is. That Dutch student did no one any harm.

This is an old thread so it may be that no one ever sees this, but the last time I checked (it has been about 15 years since that subject came up) Carlos was an atheist. He has a degree in Biology from UT, where he was in the Air Force corp or whatever the college military guys are called.
I cannot make any sense of this horrific crime. I am sick over the whole thing, and wish, as does all of Carlos' family I'm sure, that we'd seen the signs. With him being so far away, it was hard to figure out what he was into and up to. I knew something wasn't right with him, but murder? The victim's family must be suffering so much because of this appalling act.
Muslim.....No, Christian....No. Nor is he the son of migrants (saw that one on another blog). I never thought of him as a peace activist, either. Stereotypes may make everyone feel better, but they can't explain this despicable murder away. I keep hoping it is all an aweful nightmare from which we'll all soon awaken.
(A shameful cousin who had a need to vent.)
