Bush Progress Speech & Whiny Dem Response

President George W. Bush gave a very hopeful and positive speech on the progress in Iraq since the Bush Surge began a few months back.
Bottom line---
"Realizing this vision will be difficult, but it is achievable." ...Our military commanders believe we can succeed. Our diplomats believe we can succeed. And for the safety of future generations of Americans, we must succeed.
Democrats did not disappoint with their patented negative rebuttal.

Here is a line that stuck out from the democratic response by Senator Jack Reed (D-RI):

Yet, as General Petraeus has repeatedly stated, Iraq's fundamental problems are not military, they are political. The only way to create a lasting peace in Iraq is for Iraqi leaders to negotiate a settlement of their long-standing differences.

When the president launched the surge in January, he told us that its purpose was to provide Iraqi leaders with the time to make that political progress.

But now, nine months into the surge, the president's own advisers tell us that Iraq's leaders have not, and are not likely to do so. Meanwhile, thousands of brave Americans remain in the crossfire of another country's civil war.
So, which presidential advisers was Reed talking about?
Cheney? Condi? Petraeus?
Maybe the mainstream media will follow up on these unsubstantiated claims by Reed.
They surely won't let Reed get away with groundless propaganda.
Will they?

John Edwards gave his own rebuttal.

Umm... Did any democrat even listen to the Petraeus report to Congress?... Just wondering.

It is interesting that you can't find one democrat who is talking about winning- not one.

  1. Instead of dishonest and contradictory attacks on the President that he has no strategy, or that he does have a new strategy but it has failed to produce the intended results in nine months,* I'm curious to hear from the Democratic leadership just what isn't convincing about destroying al Qaeda terrorists in Iraq? What isn't worthwhile about preventing Iran from dominating its neighbors in the region as that country continues to flout the international community that Democrats love to tout as so important to our security? Where is the value to our well-being in abandoning an ally struggling for its survival?

Although Democrats have gone to Iraq and noted the progress the surge is making, and although Petraeus' and Crocker's testimony proved compelling, the idea that the surge is working has not yet become the prevailing notion in the U.S. While I certainly acknowledge that, as is the case with most gains in war, it is entirely possible that conditions in Iraq could again begin to deteriorate, the fact is the President has gained the time he needs for events on the ground to take their course in a successful manner and shape. If the surge's progress continues, and conditions in Iraq continue to improve, there will be no stopping the acknowledgment of those facts; as that happens (if it does), it will become exponentially more difficult for the Democrats to peddle their surrender myth.

The real interesting thing to watch for in the coming months is how the Democrats will act as they are clearly unable to force a withdrawal. What further fissures will we see between the anti-war radicals and the Democrats? What new lows will groups like MoveOn.org sink to as they are continually stifled in their defeatist efforts?

  2. angevin13,

They will keep behaving as they are now, in fact they will probably ramp it up. Their buddies in the MSM will be more then happy to help them, too.

Doesn't make any sense, right? One would think that if they truly wanted to get a Democrat elected President they would know better then this, right?

Well, they would if they had anyone who is sane still left in the Democratic party. These people all in in their little gated "reality-based communities" like Manhattan, Hollywood, Aspen, the Hamptons, Beacon Hill area of Boston, Georgetown, etc.. Their suburbs consist of Academiavilles scattered across the country in places like Austin and Madison.

The only people who live in these gated communities of the mind have a shared set of psychosis's and hallucinations that make them think that their viewpoint is the correct one and the "unwashed masses" such as you and I are too stupid to grasp it.

Reality is a harsh mistress as the fools in that insane asylum called the Democratic party will soon find out.

this is the line that stood out for me..

[I urge the President to listen to the American people and work with Congress to start bringing our troops home and develop a new policy that is truly worthy of their sacrifices.]

    Q: what's he really saying??

A: unless the Dems get their way.. so far all of our troops (and their families) sacrifices have been for naught, that's what..

and not only that, it's the President & Americans fault.. as if the Pontius Pilate Dems have absolutely nothing to do with it..
