"Keep the change!"
Andrew sent this photo from Zimbabwe taken by a friend and says there are still a number of white Zimbabweans squeezing out a living in the country. Andrew's friend writes:
Paying for lunch in Zimbabwe. ( 10th Aug ) Today's Black Market rate is $340,000 Zim to $1 US; and that's after we removed three zero's last year!Notice the smile on the lady to the left - they still have a sense of humor there. The bales of cash you see are called "bricks".
Andrew notes, "Everyone in Zimbabwe is a millionaire these days."
The Zimbabwe legislature is currently planning on placing the majority share of all listed firms in the hands of indigenous blacks. Business leaders fear this will lead to a fall in foreign investment and worsen Zimbabwe's economic woes.
Literally, using currency is cheaper that toilet paper there. That country is a continuing tragedy and a living example just how fast socialist policy can destroy a healthy economy, especially in the hands of moronic thug.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere a hale and hardy Ian Smith is having a very good laugh. He was one of the last great anti-communists who refused to submit to Marxist imperialism. He saw the truth, and fought for it until the bitter end. Unfortunately for the people of Rhodesia, he was absolutely correct and the rest of the world was absolutely wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe Rhodesians would have been a great ally in the war on Islamic terror, and they never would have quit until the job was done. Rhodesia had the highest voluntary enlistment rate in WW2, and were among the best fighters in history. The battle tactics they developed to fight the communist terrorists of the ANC, and ZANU/ZAPU are studied today at US Military Academies. (they may mave scrubbed the Rhodesian references from the record to be PC)
