Will Antiwar Vets Group Use Phony Soldiers In Attacks on Rush?
Antiwar VoteVets.org spokesman Josh Lansdale...

A phony.
The Wesley Clark founded antiwar VoteVets.org will start airing ads today condemning Rush Limbaugh for his smeared comments last week.
The Hill reported:
An anti-war group consisting of veterans from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan is launching an ad Tuesday that attacks popular conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.But... The real question is will this VoteVet.org's ad be another one of their bogus ads???
The group, VoteVets.org, is spending $60,000 on the ad, which will air on Fox News and CNN. In addition, a radio version of the ad will run during Limbaugh’s show in Washington, D.C., and Palm Beach, Fla., the group said.
At issue is Limbaugh’s controversial “phony soldiers” remark that was made during a broadcast last week in response to a caller who criticized soldiers who spoke out against the war in Iraq. While Limbaugh says his remark is directed at people pretending to have a service record and seeking the limelight, Democrats have taken the statement as an insult to the troops who are serving but do not support the war and called the remark “hateful” and “unpatriotic.”
Last year VoteVets.org released an attack ad claiming that we're sending US troops into combat with leftovers from a war which ended 30 years ago. But as Q and O reported, this was not true:
That soldiers were being sent into combat in Iraq wearing vests "left over from Vietnam" is disingenuous at best and to then show only the partial capability of the vest in question is even worse. Then there was this other phony controversy:
Some may write it off to "politics", but the sponsors of the ad, supposedly a veteran's organization, should be ashamed of themselves.
Josh Lansdale falsely charged he was denied health care from the Department of Veterans Affairs because of non-existent cuts to the VA budget.
Lansdale disappeared shortly after he made the ad for Democrat McCaskill.
This was found out about Josh's "battle injuries" while he was missing:
Josh enlightened all Missourians with this message during his starring appearance in Claire McCaskill’s misguided propaganda peace. This description might leave many voters with a mental image of Josh falling in a hail of gunfire and heroically leaving the battlefield with a shattered ankle. Interestingly enough, though, this couldn’t be further from the truth.Josh Lansdale went on to make ads with the democratic anti-Iraq War group VoteVets.org...
According to several sources, the Source has learned the true nature behind Jumpin’ Josh’s injury. Rather than in a glorified firefight, Josh actually ‘busted’ his ankle in an intense volleyball match, believe it or not.

Former US presidential candidate retired Gen. Wesley Clark (R) speaks during a press conference by veterans advocacy group VoteVets.org in Washington. US troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan lack proper equipment, are overstretched and face serious health problems upon their return home, according to a poll released by the group. Looking are from L Jon Soltz, co-founder and chairman of VoteVets. org Action Fund, VoteVets.org senior advisor Sam SchultzVoteVets.org co-founder and president Jeremy Broussard.(AFP/Nicholas Kamm)
Josh Lansdale also claimed that on August 19, 2003, when a truck bomb exploded outside the United Nations Headquarters in Baghdad- he was called the scene to evacuate those who were badly hurt.
He wasn't.
Josh Lansdale also talked about the hot zone he was stationed at:
"It was a pretty hot zone. We took a lot of mortar fire, IEDs, car bombs, saw a lot of helicopter crashes and worked the UN embassy bombing. I dragged a lot of people out of burning buildings, cars, motorcycle wrecks and explosions."Again, this was not true.
But, VoteVets.org put Josh in their antiwar ads anyway.
Until they yanked his part without any explanation.
So again...
Will the antiwar vets group use phony soldiers in their attack ads on Rush?

GP,
The Democrats think the American people are stupid sheep. They also think that their propaganda wings the MSM and Hollywood are still the gatekeepers of information. Their sheer contempt for any and all who are not of their ilk is astounding.
They constantly misunderestimate the American people. That is why they are failing and will continue to fail.
You know I seem to recall somewhere around middle school learning about the concept of set theory which later became the basis of formal logic, mathematics and computer science. An essential tenet being the ability to differentiate between the concept of 'some' and 'all'. Apparently these Soros lap poddles must have slept through those courses or it was simply over their heads.
"An anti-war group consisting of veterans from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan ..."
I don't believe that is true. Sloppy reporting or deliberate?
OMG, he busted an ankle in a volleyball match. He totally doesn't deserve medical coverage.
Wow, it's finally coming out how much you pathological anti-American liars really "support" the troops. Yeah, support them as long as they STFU and die for your little war game.
iopian, dude, talkin' smart and stuff. Wingnuts trying to sound like they got an edukayshun always make me chuckle.

Sounds like the Multitaskenator needs to focus on one thing at a time (namely, constructing an argument).

What is the point of arguing with pathological liars? But if you want an argument, here is one:
Why are you people attacking the credibility of soldiers rather than attacking what they are saying? Why are you still trying to swift-boat Americans who bravely fought for freedom in this country? And this is basically what it is, a swift-boat attack. It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, anyone can be a target for a coordinated swift boat attack. Dredging up false little stories to destroy someone's credibility, chiefly to undercut what they have to say without actually honestly attacking what they have to say.
So, that's really all it is. Ignore the validity of what this guy has to say, or the years he served this country. The truth is, he served this country and deserves respect, whether he is right or wrong. He earned his right to voice an opinion on the war, which is most likely more than any of you deserve. But that's besides the point, he's right and you are all afraid of what he has to say. This is all about telling him to shut his mouth.
What an evil, ugly, nasty, anti-American thing to attack a soldier who has put his life on the line for your freedom. You people are the cancer that is eating away at the soul of America. Thank God that America is starting to reject the disease.
bomemian -
oh, it must be false because any veteran of Afghanistan or Iraq must be Pro-War.
Hey, didja notice that among the notable pro-war Republicans, very few actually served in the military? Or that among the biggest anti-war voices on the Democratic side are Vietnam-war vets?
Or that Republican Chuck Hagel, a Vietnam-war vet, is the biggest anti-war voice on the Republican side. And that the most pro-war Democrat, Lieberman, is....not?
Interesting. Quite possibly could be explained by the fact that war is only fun when you've never served.
Multitask,
Liars, huh? Well that is the point here, that you cant just make stuff up that fits your world view. People can have whatever opinion they like, but they cannot have whatever facts they like. Its simple, really.
Multiaskibator,
I'm sorry that you are offended by the fact that I did indeed get an education. My apologizes... seemed like the thing to do at the time.
Also sorry I can't dumb-down to... Wait... here... let me try.. ok think third grade...think third grade... ok here it goes. "that selected president george hitlerburton stold that election so cheney could be the real president and he could fly airplanes into those buildings so he'd have an excuse to invade iraq to get even with saddam for trying to kill george's daddy and steal their oil using our boys and girls blood so his rightwing nazi haliburton pals could get rich and take away our civil rights and turn america into a dictatorship so he could put anybody that disagrees with him in the gulags and torture them until they vote repugnican because nobody in their right mind would vote for people that believe you ought to get to keep the money you worked for but should instead be happy about giving it to people too lazy to work and now they lie about people that don't think that it is ok to send people like my nephew to fight in Iraq despite the fact he is a grown man and made that choice because he isn't stupid and understands the threat so got himself sent over there so his kids wouldn't have to finish the job latter but then the only coice that really matters is whether a woman can cut her little human out of herself because it really isn't a little human and I know all of this because Hollywood and the new york times said so."
There, how's that? I could have gone on but I could only get so many bumper-stickers spread out on my kitchen table.
Now that makes me chuckle.

The Multitaskenator..
then we have the Draft Dodger Bill Clinton.. who served 8 years US Prez.. and not only depleted the Military, but his wife Hillary, who also never served, is looking to take up where he left off.. not to mention the other candidates who never served ie: Obama, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich & Edwards.. yet they have plenty to say about the Military.. unfortunately, it's all negative.. :(
Rush didn't serve, so what.. at least he's not pompous enough to make false claims, nor does he have any (self serving in this case) high aspirations of running for any political office, let alone the US Presidency.. he just supports the troops via his talk radio show, which is more than all the hot air balloon candidates combined have failed to do.. yet all are vying to be CIC.. pathetic is too kind a descript.. :(

Run that one by "General Betray Us."
anonymous:
Wow, you understand the concept of lying. You're not totally a lost cause.
iopian:
Avoidance of the topic, again very typical. I'll guess, not Cornell.
bg:
Same as iopian. Changes the subject to talk about Bill Clinton. Again, standard behavior of liars when cornered with something they cannot deny. Then defends Rush by saying "at least he's not pompous enough to make false claims, nor does he have any high aspirations of running for any political office."
Rush signed a contract worth something like $285,000,000 to do his radio show, running for a political office would not be "any high aspirations" for him. Rush is a drug felon and formerly lived on welfare, which means he is unqualified to critize anybody on character issues. I guess the implied argument here is that anyone who becomes a war critic naturally is doing it because they have high aspirations for political office, not because there's like Americans dying in Iraq almost daily.
Rush isn't supporting the troops by calling any one of them phony soldiers. Call someone a phony if you don't like what they say, but a major talk radio figure with 20 million listeners calls a war vet a "phony soldier" is a real slap in the face of all soldiers who put their life on the line to defend this country and it's values. It is saying to these soldiers that we may appreciate the utter hell you're going through for us in Iraq, but don't expect to come home a hero and say anything that's on your mind or I will wipe all that away from you.
kl -
You seem to forget that Rush Limbaugh referred to Republican and Vietnam war veteran Chuck Hagel as Senator Betrayus long before the move-on ad.
But here's the distinction. Chuck Hagel is the only republican to be consistently truthful about Iraq. General Petreaus seems to be the only General willing to lie for the White House, after so many others resigned in disgust. You may not like the truth, but lies corrupt always and no lie is worth being told when young Americans are dying in such large numbers.
America stands for truth, and liars do not deserve respect.

What is the point of arguing with pathological liars?
There isn't one. Nor is there a point in arguing with someone who will believe a lie simply because it fits their narrative. Unfortunately, it's clear this is the case for you Multitaskinator.
No one has said he didn't deserve treatment for his ankle, you made that up. A lie to support your narrative about the commentors and author here.
No one is attacking the credibility of soldiers who do not lie about their conduct, duties, or service. You made that up too. The people being called out here DID lie about their service. I imagine you believe Bush lied about his service, right? Do you feel it's ok to point out that lie?
If so, you cannot condemn anyone for doing the same when the shoe is on the other foot.
Nor can you condemn Rush for doing so. But still you and your ilk spin and try, imagining you can warp public opinion into a form that suits you, that Rush said something he clearly did not say.
Dredging up false little stories to destroy someone's credibility, chiefly to undercut what they have to say without actually honestly attacking what they have to say.
When a candidate uses false statements about his military record to try and alter public opinion, pointing out the falsehood is not meant to destroy their credibility. It's meant to destroy a dishonest attempt to warp public sentiment.
Too bad you can't seem to wrap your mind around that.
bg:
okay, so what the hell does Rush's personal life have to do with any of the truths he stated??
Right! Personal life has nothing to do with the validity of their statements. You're coming around to the side of truth, slowly but surely. Next time you hear one of your right-wing hate-mongers attacking someone like Cindy Sheehan, listen closely to WHAT they are attacking.
Now, when it comes to issues of character however, that is different than attacking validity. See, next time Rush Limbaugh attacks a liberal's character, remember he is a drug-dealing felon.
at any rate, proof he lied please??
Sure -
fyi: Rush was commenting on a previous Phony Hero's report by ABC News..
You are a liar. He does not mention that fraudulent prick Jessie MacBeth once in the show prior or within the context of that conversation. Only later in a different segment does he mention MacBeth. Also, Rush Limbaugh's exacts words were "Phony Soldiers" - that's plural, not singular.
ps: Chuckie's bowing out, and i say good riddance RINO!!
I agree with you. Hagel's far too good for the Republican party.
Hagel was not unanimously elected to do Petraeus' job in Iraq.
Neither was Petraeus
i suppose it's okay with you that not only Petraeus be stabbed in the back while the US is at war
Hahahaha! You are dumb if you think you can say Petraeus' public-relations image in the US has any effect on his performance as a General in Iraq. Oooh, did it hurt his feelings? But I guess you people believe anything - like Petraeus saying basically that (A) the surge is showing signs of working, (B) we will now decrease troop levels. What??! If (A) is working, shouldn't we continue (A)???
anti-American, BDS....
Wow, meds wearing off?
God Bless Zell Miller & Joe Lieberman.. whether one agrees with either one of them or not, at least they both have integrity..
Two best reasons for being a Democrat is the fact that mental-illness is a coveted trait among Republicans leaders where Democrats marginalize them out to the fringes. This is why your party has such ongoing problems with rampant fraud, sexual-perversion, and outright insanity. These aren't the kinds of people that represent what I feel America is about. You do not love your country if you commit fraud with taxpayer money.
America is much better than the Republican party.

Guess what? You're absolutely right.
No one is attacking the credibility of soldiers who do not lie about their conduct, duties, or service. You made that up too. The people being called out here DID lie about their service.
That I'm not making up. Cut to the chase, you're saying Josh Lansdale is a phony soldier, right?
What exactly makes him a phony soldier? I'm reading between the lines and seeing nothing there but ugly little fabricated attacks on his character. Garbage like this:
That soldiers were being sent into combat in Iraq wearing vests "left over from Vietnam" is disingenuous at best and to then show only the partial capability of the vest in question is even worse.
This little syntactical raping of the English language is supposed to "prove" that the ad is lying about the military re-using vests from Vietnam? As is true with anything, confused grammar indicates a confused mind.
And further, we have this.
Josh enlightened all Missourians with this message during his starring appearance in Claire McCaskill’s misguided propaganda peace. This description might leave many voters with a mental image of Josh falling in a hail of gunfire and heroically leaving the battlefield with a shattered ankle.
Notice the part "might leave many voters with a mental image" - No, Mr. Lasdale apparently never, ever, ever made the claim that he broke his ankle on the battlefield. He just "left the impression" that he did.
Really? You just fabricated a lie and stick it in his mouth, then debunk a lie he never actually said.
It's Swift Boating all over again, vicious smears against people who heroically serv this country.
imagining you can warp public opinion into a form that suits you, that Rush said something he clearly did not say.
Rush said what he said. Don't deny it.
When a candidate uses false statements about his military record to try and alter public opinion, pointing out the falsehood is not meant to destroy their credibility. It's meant to destroy a dishonest attempt to warp public sentiment.
False statements? Unfortunately for you, you fail at establishing anything except your own hatred of America's freedoms and liberties. It is people like you who really want to warp public sentiment by controlling the message, because you all, subconsciously, fear the American public cannot be trusted make the choices you feel are right for this country.
What is it now? 80% of the American public and something like 65-70% of active military in Iraq want out of Iraq? Something like that. America is on my side, not yours.

2003 was a watershed year for the greedy chickenhawk. Send them to war ill supplied and trained and cut health care benefits and veterans spending. 2005 was pretty bad too as your leaders voted to deepen the abandonment of our soldiers while their war started falling apart around them.
There is something seriously wrong with the person who writes this blog and the commenters I have read before me, ignorant of fact and law, but willing to spout off anyway. Who cares, it's someone elses kid or spouse, not yours, right?
Why should anyone want to go into the military for people like the ingrateful sots on this blog? Since you are all probably too chickenhawkish to go to war yourself, you had better start thinking about who will fight your wars for you. You should all be ashamed of yourselves and your leaders.

Uh, yeah. I read it, and listened to it. He most definitely said what he said. Thanks for that statement of the obvious.
Thing is, it's not what you say he said. I'm pretty sure you know it too, and are just getting your kicks needling people here. If that were not the case, I think you'd answer questions asked of you directly, and cogently, instead of changing the subject, avoidence, or going off on some name calling tirade.

Good for you. Difficulty in recognizing the obvious is a common trait among all wingnuts and pathological liars.
Thing is, it's not what you say he said.
Hahaha, don't try your scatter-brained Rumsfeldian defense on me. You are still a liar. You would be the first to call Clinton a liar, and he was, for saying "I did not have sex with that women" - but now you defend Rush Limbaugh for his "phony soldier" statement. Your entire view of the world is clouded by political ideologies and I suspect this dishonesty manifests itself in other aspects of one's character. It always does as I have noticed.
I mean, seriously. . ."except your own hatred of America's freedoms and liberties" . . got a good chuckle out of that one.
And I mean it, every single word I've stated in this thread! What part of freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of religion do you have difficulty understanding? You can, and should, debate people on the merits of their ideas, but you pathological liars cannot attack ideas, you slime them.
Step outside of politics for a moment, if you even can, and think of these soldiers, including the one Rush Limbaugh recently compared to a suicide bomber - despite the fact that he got shrapnel shot into his brain FROM a suicide bomb, and imagine them coming home from service, not to welcoming arms but to vicious personal attacks, hate mail, probably anonymous death threats (as typical from conservatives), the same people who risked his life defending.
There is a special place in hell reserved for Rush Limbaugh and any of you who EVER call these men phony soldiers.
MULTIFabricator-----
ANY soldier who does any time in the service is due his respect for that.
AFTERWARDS, if they LIE, MISLEAD, and MISINFORM, the THAT is not worthy of respect.
Dismissing them and calling them on it is NOT disrespecting their service. It is disrespecting their LIES,MISLEADING,and MISINFORMING.
--also, there are such things as breaks in radio.Mention of MacBeth came less than 2 min. airtime after the comment. If everything you want to question someone ono their having said, must be preceded always by clarification, how could anyone ever speak? One has to say SOMETHING without the explanation coming first. That's ridiculous.
Just like in the case of Ahmedinejad, I think our attention to insignificant men and matters is well below the decency level of rational folk. Your Media Matters style, micro breakdown of a thing to fit what you want it to be is so childish and pompous. So utterly silly it's best ignored.
This Josh guy would obviously come off differently, had he said,"Well, we had some downtime and in a volleyball match, I hurt my ankle pretty bad. I wasn't in a lot of real hot action though every day was a threat just being there.I got to see a nurse practitioner almost right away and that was a sufficient level of treatment for immediate care. It was a damn long waiting list to get to a real doctor but I'm sure there are people in greater need of the doctor's car......"..etc.And then proceed to make a solid debate on spending cuts and such, fine.
BUT IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Either lying and making himself a victim---OR----- dishonoring his OWN prior service and disrespecting EVERY soldier who REALLY did what he LIED about doing.
This multitasker kid, --he must be a kid----is just irrelevant.Let him walk off thinking he skunked you because you didn't answer his accusations. To me this seems part of the no-morals culture. "A lie is fine if the degree it makes you FEEL good remains higher than the degree to which it hurts anyone else. In your OWN judgment, of course!"
Of the SEVERAL clear falsehoods by Lansdale, the vest thing was what you chose and that before mention of Lansdale .That is something else. Then comes Lansdale and his lies. Go back and look. Or does it qualify as a charge against Lansdale because it's on the same page and Media Matters would consider it so.The lies can be justified all you want but turn them into the truth and much more in the reality that was his whole attack,...just wears very thin and leaves him to have to debate more on knowledge, research, and preparation. Remove the fake drama and the shuck-n-jive and people cannot use him for shock value.
And i'd think they ought to stop rolling these drama queens out like this because they are going to get disrobed--EVERY TIME.
Time to get real.

Your Media Matters style, micro breakdown of a thing to fit what you want it to be is so childish and pompous. So utterly silly it's best ignored.
Oooooh, micro breakdown of a thing to fit what you want it to be... It's called facts, dude. Complex problems are only solvable by breaking them down into their smallest, basest assertions and assessing each one to be all true.
Mathematicians, architects, programmers, economists, electronic engineers, geologists, biologists, medical doctors, and rocket scientists ALL live by this law. Not that you are any of these people.
The rest of what you say is anti-American. This soldier has earned his right to say whatever he wants to say. End of story.
Well golly gee! The The Multitaskenator had to go through at that to make sure everyone knew he/she/it is a fool and a pathological liar?!?!
Hilarious!
Isn't it wonderful how some people will plow on with one iota of shame regardless of the facts?
Then again The Multitaskenator seemingly has a very hard time with the English language...
