There Is a Time For Planting at CNN (Video)

Doug Ross provides the dirt.
Dan Riehl offers a little sunlight.
Classical Values has the poop (fertilizer).
The Atlantic makes it wet.
Lonewacko does the pruning.
And... HotAir brings the love.

What do you get...

A lovely box of plants.

The American Spectator observed:

CNN Washington Bureau Chief David Bohrman commiserated: "Nobody wants or expects planted questions," he said. "We booked the crowd and we pretty much know what their interests are. We think we've eliminated any plants."

Bryan at HotAir describes the Politics of Planting today:

And, that doesn't even cover what went on after the debate!

Great job David

According to the CNN source, recruiting for the questions began about two weeks before the event, and seating and coordination were put in place days before the debate took place. "The only requirement was that they not be paid or volunteer staff to a presidential campaign," says the source.

Hey guys ....go to your room and rethink this

It actually sounds to me as if Barack Obama was acknowledging that he knew her and wanted to avoid a pretense that he did not.

I'm confused. A person can be a political activist (on the "left" or the "right") -- or even a committed Democrat or Republican -- and still be an "undecided voter" so long as he or she has not gotten behind any one candidate.

Is Bryan at Hot Air suggesting otherwise?

The difference I think in CNN's mind is that a plant would be a Republican or anyone not synchophantically Democratic that would ask an honest or hard question.

You know, they do have standards...

Ken, the issue here is that "undecided vote", when the viewer hears it, means just that, a member of the general public, a plugger, maybe even a red stater, speaking their minds and speaking truth to power. That's the impression CNN wanted you to have.

Instead, they had political activists asking pre-determined questions, a forum as choreographed as professional wrestling.

Ken, perhaps CNN could have cleared this up during the debate by simply saying, "here are some questions from Democratic activists who have not yet decided which Democratic candidate to support." (Not that we even know that would have been a true statement.) Of course, it would make any viewers think a bit differently about both the questions asked and the questioners, wouldn't it?

Alternatively, perhaps CNN could have said, "here are some questions from some possible voters (note one of them is almost certainly not eligible to vote) with close connections to various Democrats and the Democratic Party who claim they haven't decided which Democrat to vote for yet."

At any rate, CNN was *at very best* being misleading about the situation.

Has anyone asked the question "If the questions were set up days in advance, did the candidates know what questions would be asked before the debate?"

This was just a huge infomercial dressed up like a real news report. There's probaly more truth in the saturday morning fake health reports to schill some psudo professors book than in any MSM political reporting. These self assumed journalists cannot do a piece without making stuff up or twisting the facts to fit their narrative.

Let me see if I have this right. If a political opponents supporter asks the same question as a politicians supporter then the question and answer have less value in the first instance then the second. Well that clears it all up for me!
