Alberto Gonzales Harassed, Abused at University of Florida (Updated With Student Response)

The intolerant Left is at it again...

In what is to be expected anymore on US university campuses...
Alberto Gonzales was the latest conservative to be abused during a speaking engagement.

The young storm troopers were out in force on Monday night.

Former US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was harassed at Florida U on Monday night. The media reports don't begin to tell the abuse this conservative received on the University of Florida campus.
The Florida Alligator reported:

In his first appearance at a university since resigning in August, former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was met at UF on Monday with a mixture of cheers, boos and scattered interruptions by protesters, two of whom were arrested.

Gonzales, who resigned from his position after a controversial tenure, spoke to more than 800 people at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

...About 15 minutes into his speech, two UF students, Richard Gutierrez and Kevin Hachey, climbed onto the stage wearing orange jumpsuits and black hoods on their heads.

University Police Department officers scrambled onto the stage to remove them.

Matthew Cox, an employee of the Phillips Center, wrestled with one protester on the far side of stage, grabbing his legs and pulling him down.

The other stood directly next to Gonzales, who calmly avoided looking in his direction.
Of course... Left leading blog Think Progress clearly condones the abusive behavior.
Sick.

Gonzales will be in St. Louis at Washington University in February.

Jammie Wearing Fool wonders where the tazer patrol was hiding out at.

UPDATE: This is supposedly from one of the peaceful protesters at the student riot against Alberto Gonzales at the University of Florida. I don't have a way of checking the authenticity but here it is anyway:

as a protester at this event, i can assure you we took ample time discussing the repercussions of our actions on alberto's right to speech. we decided unamiously to keep our protests visual, but silent.

that is why no one with in a hood, with a sign, or with the shirts that said shame are heard saying anything during their brief demonstrations. the entire vocal response was a spontanious reaction to our protests, and as loud as they were, even that was hardly sufficient to block alberto from speaking. which, by the way, was never a goal of ours, and if it was, i can assure you it would have happened just fyi...
NUTS...
Today's young leftists have no idea what torture is, what freedom of speech is, and from the video of the assault on Gonzales, what silence is.
Pathetic.

That picture captures it perfectly: lefties blocking Gonzales' freedom of speech while wearing "Civil Liberties" on their shirts.

How is standing silent and still on a stage "blocking Gonzales" speech? Maybe delayed it a bit, but not blocked. Maybe the students had something to say also and they were willing to get arrested to say it. How very sensitive conservatives are.

Hey nightsoil, you really are stupid or extremely rude individual, which is it?

Now if the silly bastard in the hijab had something intelligent to say about Al Gonzales and his buddy Johnny Sutton, then maybe he could've waited until Gonzales was done with his prepared speech to ask him about it...

Those leftist whackos were the toddlers who used to pull off their diapers and fling their crap around thinking they were cute.

Now they're grown up and it's still not cute.

They have no sense of respect or appropriate perimeters. I can almost guarantee none of those losers can snag a girlfriend.

nightjar~ so if the first 'black president,' bill clinton, were giving a speech, you would not mind if a protestor in blackface came and stood right next to him?

UofF has been well known for a long history of respectful lissting and debate of all forms.

Here we have a second incident in a short period that has elapsed since the Don’t tas me Bro farce.

Combine that with the back turning tactic which was used a lot in the Muslim week discussions and I would have to believe there are traceable links to the same national groups coordinating these types of activities.

You will note from viewing the video and the prior Taser related situation that the vast majority of those present listened with respect regardless of their viewpoints on the speaker.

I support their right to protest as long as it does not attempt to disrupt the chance to listen to obtain information to create an informed opinion by those who chose to attend the event.

Such disruptive behavior violates the free speech of the presenter and I lean more toward even handed rules against disruptive acts inside the event , but fully support the peaceful protest outside of the event venue, but in no way restricting access for those who chose to attend the event.

Disruption is simply admitting you don’t have a worthy argument in the marketplace of idea

Anon

You comment shows that all you did was simply then and now try to rationalize poor behavior on your part.

You had ample time prior to the event to post your handbills and try to persuade people not to attend the event.

Obviously that failed since reportedly hundreds of people arrived to attend the event.

You choice of action reflects poorly on you and others who did what you did.

It showed a total lack of respect and manners and the whole collegiate concept of open exploration of the possibilities of life.

I am sure you would object if someone treated one of your meetings or group events in such a manner.

Try to win an issue on the merits sometime , you might learn something.

But as long as you persist in these type of actions, you only discredit yourself among thinking people.

Look back at the Don't Taz me Bro videos and you will see members of the audience showing their distaste for that staged dog and pony show and obviously had no respect at all for his actions.

So get off you childish hobby horse actions and think about all the people there with drawn looks on their faces because of you antics that should be dismissed out of hand.

It's all part of growing up.

So who's lying here? Or is there a lie?

anon @ 6:19 PM says: "we decided unamiously to keep our protests visual, but silent. that is why no one with in a hood, with a sign, or with the shirts that said shame are heard saying anything during their brief demonstrations. the entire vocal response was a spontanious reaction to our protests, and as loud as they were, even that was hardly sufficient to block alberto from speaking"

Meanwhile Florida Today reported: Former AG Gonzales heckled at UF

Then there is this YouTube clip that seems to indicate that anon's account is questionable at best...

Reading that steaming pile of shite left here by another "brave" anonymous poster about how they were so "concerned" about their protest reminded me of couple of lines from Stop Comparing Me to American Moonbats.

But who do I get automatically lumped in with? East Village Rage Against My Allowance fuckwits in Fred Perry tracksuits who can’t figure out the controls on an iPod, let alone an international revolution.

And the next time one of you chicken martyrs puts on a keffiya and starts babbling about “solidarity with the resistance,” remember this: just because we are planning to kill you last doesn’t make you our buddy.

They are just like grammar school bullies.
We don't agree with you so we are going to disrupt you and basically have a tantrum.
Sit down, shut up and listen.
It would be a marked improvement to your education, which is decidedly lacking.
You want to have a protest, do it outside. You make your point and people then ate still able to listen and decide without your juvenile behavior.
Why are you so threatened by opposing views?

I was in Gainesville today on business and I spoke with some who attended the event and they said the cheering for someone on the video here was mostly directed in support of the campus cops NOT the protesters.

Why am I not surprised of that news.

This has absolutely nothing to do with protesting anything. This has to do with kids trying to get on YouTube or does it?

No, this has the fingerprints again of a larger militant/fascist group (burned out hippie/yuppie types) using dumb kids as cannon fodder.

Put the cell phones down turn off the i-pods and pay attention in class, and just say no to older people who use the words "you can help change...."

Militant/extreme protesting is not your constitutional privilege and never will be. Who's the fascist again?

Maybe because people want to be able to listen when they attend a lecture?
