Iranian Minister Explains West's Lust For Homosexuality, Animals & Sex Toys (Video)

Following are excerpts from an address delivered by Hasan Rahimpur Azghadi of the Iranian Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution, which aired on Jaam-e Jam 1 TV on September 3, 2007, via MEMRI Organization.

The Video is HERE.

Hasan Rahimpur Azghadi: [The Westerners] have transgressed all moral boundaries, and that is why their family unit has collapsed. When modesty and chastity are abandoned, soon enough the family falls apart. The husband and wife are no longer satisfied with one another, and they begin having relations with other men and women.

After a while, they start thinking that since they have already experienced this, it is time to try homosexuality.

Then, they think this is old-fashioned, and they turn to animals. These things happen in the West.

After a while, when they get bored with this, they turn to small children.

Today, one of the most prosperous and lucrative trades in the world is the trafficking in sex slaves – mostly women and small children. They trade small children like slaves and use them for sex. They are worse than the most monstrous beasts in history. They have even developed theories about this. Throughout history, people did these vile things, but they never discussed it in public. They always did it in secret. These people raise their head up high, and admit that they do these things.

They have now begun turning to objects. There are big factories that produce artificial genitals, and they sell them in stores. A sex shop is a store that sells sex toys.
There you have it!
** The Western progression:

Marriage - Orgies - Homosexuality - Animals - Children - Sex Toys!

But... The Iranian Cultural Minister forgot to include the sex trends at home.
Kamangir reported on a recent blogger study done on holy mullah lust:

The Iranian blogger Harfehesab [Persian], looks at the Google search trends in the holy city of Qom, for sex-related terms.

Qom is the capital city of Shia Islam and the religious capital city of Iran. The city’s Jamkaran Mosque has recently become the spot to submit letters to Mehdi [the Islamic Messiah] and where the government gets its religious backing [not exact translation]. Therefore, the administration pushes very hard to present the city in a holy and Islamic way. However, a close look at the Internet activity of the city reveals that something else is going on in the city.

The blogger then gives a list of ten sex-related terms and shows how Google Trends reveals that Qom is the top Iranian location where these terms are looked up in Google.

Thank goodness those Iranian mullahs are able to keep their sexual urges in check.

Dems Attack Freedom of Speech!... Will "Rush" Legislation!

DEMOCRATS WILL ATTACK FREEDOM OF SPEECH ON MONDAY!!!
Phony Outrage over a Phony Scandal hits the House!

Democrats are planning on introducing legislation on Monday attacking Rush Limbaugh over the lies perpetrated by the Soros-backed Media Matters!
Michelle Malkin has the rundown on the Democratic attack on ALL AMERICANS!
Michelle adds this:

Here is what this phony fiasco is really all about: It’s about the MoveOn.org Democrats trying to save face in the aftermath of the disastrous “General Betray Us” smear. They want their own moment of righteous (or rather, lefteous) indignation, their own empty proof that they really, really, really do support the troops. They want to shift attention away from MoveOn.org, its bully tactics, and its thug brethren at Media Matters. They are making a pathetic attempt to equate the “Betray Us” attack–which was deliberately timed for publication and maximum p.r. damage to our military command when the world was watching our top general in Iraq testifying in Congress–with a radio talk show host’s ruminations about anti-war soldiers who have faked their military records/history.
John Gibson proved that Media Matters was lying.
But this is not stopping the democrats from attacking this nation's sacred Freedom of Speech!

What's worse for Democrats is that the media reported the truth last week on the epidemic of phony soldiers.

Rush was right!
And, there is even a website devoted to the phony soldier problem.

The problem is sooo bad that the Department of Veterans Affairs even has posters to help the publi identify phony soldiers!

Here are a few of the posters:
There was the phony antiwar hero Jesse MacBeth who lied about his service and the atrocities he committed in Iraq:

Resident Alien Carlos Riosvalle did not serve in any war- anywhere. He was sentenced April 9, 2007, in Multnomah County for multiple counts of Theft by Deception:

Elvin Swisher faked military metals he did not earn, while he went around presenting military metals to a fathers of a fallen soldiers:

Roy J. Scott, 71, of Port Angeles, Washington pleaded guilty August 31, 2007, to Use of an Altered Military Discharge Certificate to obtain VA Compensation and Medical Benefits, and Unlawful Wearing of United States Military Medals and Decorations.

As you can see from this poster campaign- phony soldiers is a serious problem.
But, democrats still insist on attacking your Freedom of Speech!

And, it's only so they can pretend that after all of their rhetoric, attacks on the military, and legislation, that they really, really, really, really, really, do support the troops.

Don't believe it.
As Dan Riehl posted on the antiwar party today:

The comment by Ray: A six to one ratio in any war is remarkable and a clear sign that staying the course is basically all that's required to secure victory. Since the anti-war Left refuses to accept that some wars do indeed need to be fought and also won, they've no choice but to make the worst of every bit of news out of Iraq. If we can't question their patriotism, we can at least expose their lack of logic and dedication to failure.
The outrage is phony.
The support for the war is phony.

But, the phony soldiers are real.
There are several other phony soldiers now under investigation. They have cost the government $1.4 million.

Don't allow Democrats to restrict your Freedom of Speech!

Iran Thanks Columbia Students For Restraint... Donates 100 Books to University (With Dumb Blonde Video)

Update and Bumped: Dumb Blonde sets Columbia University students straight-
(Warning on language)

Thanks Serendip

The Iranian Regime was very pleased with the great respect and restraint of the Columbia student body.
Especially impressive to Iran was the non-reaction by the students to the attacks on the Zionists.
This was the same respectful student body that mobbed the Minutemen speakers last year.

Thrilled with the successful lecture by President Ahmadinejad at Columbia last week, the regime in Iran has sent 100 anti-American, anti-Zionist books to the university as a special gesture of thanks.
The university will no doubt be very pleased with the shipment.

Mahmoud returned home to a hero's welcome after his very successful lecture at the prestigious American university where he attacked Jews and dismissed homosexuals. (ISNA)

It was a great win for the brutal regime to be legitimized by the prestigious university.
Fars News reported:

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- An Iranian state institution gifted 100 volumes of books on the US occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan to the library of Columbia University.

The books which contain hundreds of caricatures on the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan have been gifted by the director of the Foundation for Safeguarding and Promotion of the Values of the Sacred Defense (i.e. Iraqi imposed war on Iran 1980-1988).

"To honor the self-restraint and patience of the Columbia University students during the address of Dr. Ahmadinejad and to appreciate their freedom and justice-seeking spirit, one hundred books on occupation (of Iraq and Afghanistan) along with the English translation of the book 'There was God and nothing else' by the honorable martyr and scientist the late Dr. Mostafa Chamran will be gifted to this university," the Foundation's director Mir Feysal Bagherzadeh said on Sunday.

The Book 'Caricatures on Occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan' is a collection of the masterpieces of the world's famous caricaturists and has been released by the said foundation.
Is it really surprising that people are asking,
"Have American academics lost their collective minds?"

Maybe Iran will send a picture book of this... Auschwitz Photos.

Americans Continue to Choose Unbiased News

FOX News continues to crush the competitors. But, not everyone is happy about this. (DC Indymedia)

Americans expect the media to tell the truth.
That's why the Media Matters episodes this week are so infuriating.

Media Matters first slandered Bill O'Reilly for his discussion with black liberal Juan Williams.
Then the dishonest Leftist group blasted Rush Limbaugh for his comments against the rash of antiwar phony soldiers propped up by the liberal media and liberal senatorial candidates.

News Busters wrote more on this horrible Leftist organization, Media Matters:

Media Matters’ links to Hillary are at once intimate and multitudinous, and the organization’s devotion to her is nothing short of profound. In 1996 (eight years before Media Matters’ creation), the then-conservative David Brock was commissioned (with a $1 million advance) by the Simon & Schuster subsidiary Free Press to write a hard-hitting expose of Hillary. But the book, completed in 1997, turned out to be nothing more than a tepid, distinctly sympathetic account of the former First Lady’s life. That same year (1997), Brock publicly announced his political epiphany, unequivocally recanting his previous negative writings about the Clintons and embracing the liberal/Left cause. During this period, Brock developed a close relationship with Neel Lattimore, Senator Clinton’s openly gay press secretary and close confidante. Brock would eventually hire Lattimore as a director of “special projects” for Media Matters.

Brock’s affinity for Mrs. Clinton grew over time, and vice versa. According to Glenn Thrush of Newsday, Hillary “advised Brock on creating” Media Matters in 2004, “encouraging the creation of a liberal equivalent of the Media Research Center, a conservative group that has aggravated Democrats for decades.” Thrush reports that Hillary still “chats with [Brock] occasionally and thinks he provides a valuable service . . .” “For her part,” Thrush adds, “Clinton’s extended family of contributors, consultants and friends has played a pivotal role in helping Media Matters grow from a $3.5 million start-up in 2004 to its current $8.5 million budget.”

Media Matters and Hillary Clinton are further linked by their respective relationships with three of the most influential leftist operatives in the world—George Soros, Morton Halperin, and John Podesta. All three of these men are intimately involved with a vital think tank called the Center for American Progress (CAP)—which, according to Cybercast News Service’s research, “was instrumental in getting Brock’s media group off the ground”; which helped launch Media Matters on May 3, 2004; and which maintains a tight bond with Brock’s organization to this day...

CAP is heavily funded by the aforementioned billionaire financier George Soros, and in turn works closely with Media Matters to remove potential roadblocks (like Don Imus) from Hillary Clinton’s path to the White House. According to Bill O’Reilly, some of the money Soros gives to CAP eventually finds its way into the coffers of Media Matters, though Media Matters disputes this.
Yet, the liberal media this week was more than willing to spread the lies by the Leftists at Media Matters.
After O'Reilly was attacked this week by the Soros-linked Media Matters and mainstream media outlets including CNN, CBS, Chicago Sun-Times, etc. he had this to say about the the corrupt American media:

Failure leads to desperation. "The Factor" has been number one for six consecutive years and defeats our cable news competition combined. The other cable news outlets are ratings disasters.

Last night, "The Factor" had six times as many viewers as CNN at 8;00 p.m. But that is no excuse for being dishonest.
Truly Americans expect more and that explains the rise of FOX News despite the constant attacks by the Leftist propagandists.

Europe Again Asks Citizens to Identify Themselves By Race

The EU is working out its modern version of the Nuremberg laws.

In the last century, certain Europeans were asked to identify themselves.

Ramadan Violence Down-US Deaths Down in Iraq

Five million children started classes this week in Iraq.

Despite previous warnings from Al Qaedathat it would increase attacks, violence in Iraq during Ramadan has fallen by almost 40 percent from last year, the U.S. military said on Sunday (Reuters).

US military deaths were at their lowest point in 14 months in September.
AFP reported:

US military losses in Iraq for September stood at 71 on Sunday, but the toll remained the lowest monthly figure since July last year, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.

The US military on Sunday announced the death of another soldier, saying he died when his unit was hit by a bomb and came under small arms fire in eastern Baghdad on Saturday. A second soldier was injured.

The figure marks the fourth consecutive drop in the monthly death toll following a high of 121 in May. June saw 93 deaths, July 82 and August 79, while the monthly toll in July 2006 was 53.

The latest death pushed the overall toll of American losses since the March 2003 invasion to 3,802.

A surge in US troop numbers saw an extra 28,500 personnel deployed from mid-February, mainly in Baghdad and the neighbouring province of Anbar, although commanders said most were not in combat positions until May.

US commanders say the strategy is starting to work and that levels of violence are dropping, allowing for a possible drawdown of the 160,000 or so troops now deployed.
The LA Times can't help themselves and open with this biased headline- "Petraeus admits to rise in Iraq violence."

It is so sad that our media has been diminished to a big anti-Bush propaganda outfit.

MORE: John Wixted notes that it's not just US military deaths that are down.

And more amazing news HERE.

Myanmar Officials Hide Bodies- UN Delegate Arrives for Show

Ko Hla: A high school student was shot down in South Oakkalapa Township yesterday. The student’s parents managed to get his body but the military search the whole quarter and took the body by force, later.

(Niknayman)
Ko Hla: Today, there were troops in the downtown Yangon. They search every bag and if someone got caught with camera in it, they would arrest him. They arrested anyone that they suspect - even the locksmith from Annaw-ya-htar Road was arrested. Received this news when the Internet connection was back for a while.

Ko Hla: From Internal Source: Now, a split within Myanmar’s ruling junta has emerged. Several ministers such as Aung Thaung, Maung Thaung, Kyaw Hsan, Maung Oo and Thein Zaw are on Gen. Than Shwe side. Generals split between those who want to follow General Than Shwe and those who want to follow Gen. Maung Aye. According to a brigadier general, Gen. Maung Aye gave command the military force to short to the people who loot and destroy public’s properties. But Gen. Than Shwe followers do not agree with that command. That BG also suggests the protesters should not shout slogan against the entire military force.

Ko Hla: In Mandalay, monks have requested people to watch out for own security due to military and thugs raids in monasteries. Monks suggested fellow-monks and people make warning sound by hitting hollow-wood-gongs or tin-containers when soldiers, police or stranger com in to quarters. This kind of arrangement should be announced in Yangon city as well.

Serious Violations Admitted By the UN Human Rights Council

Anne Bayefsky wrote a piece for the National Review Online this week on the atrocious record of the "revamped" UN Human Rights Council:

When President Bush told the United Nations General Assembly this week “the American people are disappointed by the failures of the Human Rights Council,” his words could not have been more timely or deserved. He pointed out “This body has been silent on repression by regimes from Havana to Caracas to Pyongyang and Tehran — while focusing its criticism excessively on Israel.” On Friday, the Council piled the dung heap higher. It wrapped up another session in Geneva by adopting two more resolutions against Israel and no resolutions critical of the human-rights record of any of the other 191 U.N. member states.

This brings the total of anti-Israel resolutions and decisions adopted by the “Human Rights” Council — in only the first 15 months of its operation — to 14. Another four very weak decisions and resolutions have been applied to Sudan. And the Council finally decided to hold a special session of the Council on Myanmar. So adding up the highly selective concerns of the U.N.’s lead human-rights agency: 74 percent of the Council’s moves against individual states have been directed at Israel, 21 percent at Sudan, 5 percent at Myanmar, and the rest of the world has been given a free pass.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour, in orange scarf, sits with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at US & Israel bash. (EYE on the UN)

EYE on the UN released this information this week on the recent actions by the UNHRC and it is shocking:

Today, 74% of Council moves against individual states have been directed at Israel, 21% at Sudan, 5% at Myanmar, and the rest of the world has been given a free pass.

***

"Human Rights" Council Resolutions and Decisions Critical of the Human Rights Records of Specific States

TOTAL: Israel -- 14 (74%). Sudan -- 4 (21%). Myanmar -- 1 (5%). Rest of the world -- 0

Israel: 10 resolutions, 4 decisions, in addition to holding 3 special sessions; Sudan: 1 resolution, 3 decisions, in addition to holding 1 special session;
Myanmar: 1 decision to hold a special session (to be held Tuesday, October 2)

Explanatory Note
The word "criticism" is taken to mean any suggestion, however weak, that a specific country is responsible for human rights violations. It does not imply an equally negative condemnation of the states listed. In particular, the resolutions and decisions on Sudan do not contain the same direct condemnation leveled in the resolutions and decisions on Israel. More background. Decisions to hold a special session of the Council are included since they imply a negative assessment of human rights protection by that state, although they are procedural resolutions. Decisions to provide technical assistance to specific states concerning human rights problems are not included.
The anti-Semitism at the UN is so obvious today that even the council's president Doru-Romulus Costea admits it.
The Jerusalem Post reported:

The United Nations Human Rights Council has not managed to deal fairly with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the council's president Doru-Romulus Costea told a Spanish newspaper on Saturday, according to Israel Radio.

Doru admitted that he was dissatisfied with the fact the council had overly focused on the degree of human rights violations by Israel.

"The body which I head must examine the actions of both sides equally, and we have not done that," said Costea. "Clearly, from now on things need to change."

Israel Radio reported that earlier this week, US President George Bush criticized the UN Human Rights Council, saying that it had put too great an emphasis on Israeli actions.
But, don't hold your breath for any changes from this bunch.
The institutional hatred of Israel runs deep at the UN.
Even though President Bush was bold enough to point out the issue, the thugocracies won't be be changing their tune any time too soon.
Don't forget that Libya, Iran & Cuba are planning the next UN Racism Conference!

This Time... Islamists Succeed in Attack on Ancient Buddha

Earlier in the month, a group of armed men arrived in the village of Jehanabad saying they were mujahedeen, or Islamic fighters, and told residents they wanted to blow up the 7-meter (23-foot) statue.
They were not successful.

But, this did not stop the Islamists.

Swat, the land of romance and beauty, is celebrated throughout the world as the holy land of Buddhist learning and piety. Swat acquired fame as a place of Buddhist pilgrimage. There are now more than 400 Buddhist sites covering and area of 160 Km in Swat valley only. The Swat region is linked by road and by air with Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Peshawar in Pakistan.

Today the Islamists came back to destroy the ancient Buddha of Swat.
They had much better luck.
Times of India and Thanos at LGF reported:

PESHAWAR: A seventh-century Buddhist relic in Pakistan was damaged when Islamic militants blasted it with dynamite, police said on Saturday.

They said that the militants used home-made bombs to try to blow up the mountainside engraving, a Buddhist pilgrimage site, and fired at it using automatic weapons.

"Late on Friday, militants attempted to blow up the engraving but they could only damage it partially," local police official Masood Khan said, adding it was the second attempt to destroy the relic, in Swat in northwest Pakistan.

A local museum official said thousands of Buddhist pilgrims came to the region every year despite security threats to visit the image of Buddha sitting cross-legged, and criticised authorities for failing to protect it.

The incident recalled the internationally condemned destruction of the huge Bamiyan Buddhas in neighbouring Afghanistan by the hardline Taliban regime in 2001.

Swat is known for its Buddhist heritage and archaeological sites and attracts large number of tourists, mainly from Buddhist countries.

Jerusalem Post Makes HUGE ERROR-- Misreports Honor Killing

UPDATE The Jerusalem Post responds:

In the context of the Hamas-Fatah power struggle, Fatah officials and security agents have distributed a video documenting the alleged killing of a 16-year-old girl in the Gaza Strip.

But it has emerged that that the footage was taken in Iraq, where a 16-year-old girl was killed for "dishonoring" her family.

Fatah claimed that the victim was Nahed Juha, a 16-year-old girl who was indeed killed together with her two sisters, Lina and Suha, in the Gaza Strip last July.

Fatah security officials even provided reporters with two "eyewitnesses" who claimed that that had witnesses the lynching of Nahed Juha.

For the past few years, both Fatah and Hamas have been involved in a smear campaign against each other. The two parties have devoted tremendous efforts to manipulate the media, often feeding reporters with false information.

Last week Fatah managed to sell another hoax to reporters when it claimed that its security forces had discovered rocket launchers in Bethlehem that were directed against Jerusalem. It later turned out that the "rockets" were simple pipes that has been set up by children who were trying to imitate Hamas.
MORE from the J-Post...

Some are now trying to claim that this is "Jewish
propaganda" and that the whole affair was a "zionist plot to
defame Islam."

Of course this is ridiculous and says a lot about Fatah's
credibility. They even provided false witnesses.
IMRA has more on the story.

Original post:
** I am a HUGE fan of The Jerusalem Post but today they made a
MAJOR MISTAKE...

Thanks to Carl in Jerusalem for the tip.
The Jerusalem Post claims today that an honor killing caught on tape occurred in Gaza recently:

After more than 20 years in the business, and just when you think you've seen it all, there's always something that shocks you more than ever.

This time it's the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl in the Gaza Strip. Her crime: "dishonoring" her family. Of course, there is no way to verify the allegations against her and other females who have fallen victim to "honor killings."

The gruesome murder occurred a few weeks ago, when the girl - who looks much younger than her age - was dragged into the street and handed to an mob of angry young men.

Eyewitnesses told The Jerusalem Post that many of those who participated in the lynch were Hamas members and relatives of the girl.

A five-minute video obtained by the Post over the weekend reveals the savagery and mercilessness of the killers.

What's really disturbing is that none of those at the crime scene tried to intervene to save the girl's life.

More than 20 young men are seen beating, stabbing and kicking the little girl before smashing her head with large stones.

THIS IS NOT TRUE...

The killing actually took place in northern Iraq.

This video grab is from the honor killing in northern Iraq in April of this year.
Notice the same sweater.

(Warning: It is a very gruesome video!)
** Publius Pundit posted the video back on April 30, 2007.

I wrote more about the killing and a protest in Kurdistan in response to the killing HERE.

Du'a Khalil Aswad, a 17 year old Kurdish girl was murdered by public stoning after running away from home for a so-called honour crime. Du'a was a member of Iraq’s Yezidi religious minority from the village of Bahzan in northern Iraq. She was killed by a group of men and in the presence of a large noisy crowd in the town of Bashika, near the city of Mosul. Some of her relatives may have participated in her stoning.

Amnesty International reported that Du’a Khalil Aswad’s murder is said to have been committed by relatives and other Yezidi men because she had engaged in a relationship with a Sunni Muslim boy and had been absent from her home for one night.
Stop Honour Killing posted an article on the brave women in the region protesting against honour killing after the death of Du'a Khalil Aswad.

UPDATE: I have contacted a Jerusalem Post staff member.
They wrote back and are checking it out.
I am sure they will handle this in a professional manner.

UPDATE 2: Charles Johnson says 2004- But it is definitely the same video that was making the rounds earlier this year.
(Actually I believe LGF means 2007 not 2004.)

These video grabs were taken by the Daily Mail back in early May after the story hit the mainstream media.

UPDATE 3: This killing was the excuse Al Qaeda gave when they blew up the Yazidi Iraqi villages in August. The Al Qaeda mastermind behind the Yazidi community attacks was later killed by the Allied forces in Iraq.

UPDATE 4: The Jerusalem Post has removed the article.

UPDATE 5: Roger Simon has an idea what may have happened here.
Blue Crab Boulevard has more.

UPDATE 6: Charles Johnson posts a reply by the auther:

Thanks, but it appears we were the victims of a hoax. the film was taken in Iraq, not Gaza. we have been misled deliberately...we have removed the story..apologies!
Roger Simon was correct.

Tim Rutten at the LA Times agrees that it was a big win for the Iranian leader:

His Columbia engagement gives him what he wants -- legitimacy -- and his hosts look rude to Islamic eyes.

One of the world's truly dangerous men, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, left New York a clear winner this week, and he can thank the arrogance of the American academy and most of the U.S. news media's studied indifference for his victory...

Bollinger clearly had an American audience in mind when he denounced the Iranian leader to his face as a "cruel" and "petty dictator" and described his Holocaust denial as designed to "fool the illiterate and the ignorant." Bollinger's remarks may have taken him off the hook with his domestic critics, but when it came to the international media audience that really counted, Ahmadinejad already had carried the day. The invitation to speak at Columbia already had given him something totalitarian demagogues -- who are as image-conscious as Hollywood stars -- always crave: legitimacy. Bollinger's denunciation was icing on the cake, because the constituency the Iranian leader cares about is scattered across an Islamic world that values hospitality and its courtesies as core social virtues. To that audience, Bollinger looked stunningly ill-mannered; Ahmadinejad dignified and restrained.

Back in Tehran, Mohsen Mirdamadi, a leading Iranian reformer and Ahmadinejad opponent, said Bollinger's blistering remarks "only strengthened" the president back home and "made his radical supporters more determined,"
Rutten goes on to describe that this was not the first time that Columbia has invited a Jew-hating world leader to speak on campus.
It looks like some things never do change.

The children stayed up late to offer the great president flowers.

Vaclav Havel Condemns World's Non-Reaction to Slaughter in Burma
Via Glenn Reynolds and Comment As Free:

In the coming days - perhaps even hours - the destiny of Burma (also known as Myanmar), and the fates of over 50 million Burmese, will be decided. Today's crisis has been brewing for many years. But nobody knew with any precision just when open revolt against Burma's military dictatorship would erupt.

I fear that, with only a few exceptions, most countries have been surprised and caught off guard - once again - by the rapid course that events have taken in Burma. So they seem to be completely unprepared for the crisis and thus at a loss as to what to do.

How many times and in how many places has this now happened? Worse, however, is the number of countries that find it convenient to avert their eyes and ears from the deathly silence with which this Asian country chooses to present itself to the outside world.

In Burma, the power of educated Buddhist monks - people who are unarmed and peace loving by their very nature - has risen up against the military regime. That monks are leading the protests is no great surprise to those who have taken a long-term interest in the situation in Burma.

An overwhelming number of Burma's Buddhist monks have found it difficult to bear the central and regional governments' efforts to corrupt their monastic orders, and to misuse the example of the monks' self-restraint to increase the pressure on other believers. Of course, without universal and coordinated international political, economic, and media support for these brave monks, all development in Burma may quickly be put back nearly 20 years.

Beyonce Knowles refuses to alter show for Muslim authorities in Malaysia and has cancelled her show scheduled in Kuala Lumpur.

Contact Music and Religion of Peace reported:

BEYONCE KNOWLES's upcoming concert in Malaysia has been cancelled, reportedly after the R+B superstar refused to tone down her stage show in order to perform.

The singer had been due to make her debut in Kuala Lumpur in November (07), but was recently warned by organisers to cover up onstage to avoid offending fans in the predominantly Muslim country. Speaking in August (07), Razlan Ahmad Razali, the chairman of Pineapple Concerts, said, "We've informed Beyonce's management about this issue of clothes... Beyonce won't be able to do the kind of show here that she does elsewhere." Malaysian students recently threatened to boycott a concert by Gwen Stefani, because of her raunchy reputation, but Stefani toned down her show accordingly.

Another Suspect Clinton Donor Vanishes- Winkle Paw Is Gone!

Winkle and the Paw Family from San Francisco are huge donors to the Democratic party. Suitably Flip reported that Winkle made more than $150,000 in political contributions to at least 40 Hsu-favored candidates and committees since 2004. 6 other members of the Paw family (all holed up in that cozy green house in Daly City) gave another $143,000.

Clarice Feldman and Flip Pidot reported on the mysterious disappearance of Clinton maga-donor Winkle Paw this week.

Doug Ross suspects he found a lead to Winkle's disappearance.

A Bad Week For Media Matters- Caught in Another Lie

It was a horrible week for the liberal Soros-backed Media Matters.
It was also a horrible week for their partners in the mainstream media.

First the liberal group lied about Bill O'Reilly- and got busted!

Liberal reporter and commentator Juan Williams who was holding the racial conversation in question with O'Reilly is still defending O'Reilly.

So how did the Left respond?
Williams was slammed and called a "happy negro" for defending O'Reilly!
Funny... This did not seem to get any media attention. Is there any more proof needed to show how biased and corrupt today's mainstream media has become?

Then they lied about Rush Limbaugh...

Pelosi: "Border Fence Terrible Idea"

Open Borders Pelosi criticizes the border fence between the US and Mexico.
Via Drudge and USA Today:

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called a plan to build fencing along parts of the Mexico border a "terrible idea" that overlooks local communities.

Pelosi made the comments during her trip to the Rio Grande Valley for the annual Hispanic Engineering, Science & Technology Week conference at the University of Texas-Pan American.

"I have been against the fence, I thought it's a bad idea even when it was just a matter of discussion," said Pelosi, D-Calif. "These are communities where you have a border going through them, they are not communities where you have a fence splitting them."

Last year, President Bush signed the Secure Fence Act requiring the construction of fencing along the 2,000-mile border. The plans call for about 370 miles of fence and 200 miles of vehicle barriers, including concrete barriers, by the end of 2008.

Pelosi also touted legislation known as the DREAM Act that would make it easier for some illegal immigrants to receive higher education benefits. She spoke at a conference that drew more than 5,000 students for activities designed to inspire careers in science and technology.
On June 28, Pelosi had this to say:

"The principles that we have on our -- on the House side in terms of the Democrats are that we will secure our borders."

Buddhist Leader Dalai Lama Extends Support to Burmese Protesters... From Spain

He's certainly not the bravest Buddhist monk on the planet...

But it was nice of him to extend his words of encouragement:

I extend my support and solidarity with the recent peaceful movement for democracy in Burma. I fully support their call for freedom and democracy and take this opportunity to appeal to freedom-loving people all over the world to support such non-violent movements. Moreover, I wish to convey my sincere appreciation and admiration to the large number of fellow Buddhists monks for advocating democracy and freedom in Burma.

JUNTA CRACKDOWN IN MYANMAR!

UPDATE: Media says the death toll is much higher than what is being reported.
Myanmar Soldiers Fire on Students and Journalists!

The brutal murder of Japanese journalist Kenji Nagai at the hands of the military junta was caught on tape for all the world to see.

HotAir posted the video.
Burmese blogger Ko Htike posted the photos.

Asahi.com reported on the death of the Japanese journalist Kenji Nagai:

Kenji Nagai, 50, was shot through his right chest during a military crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrations around the Sule Pagoda in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar's largest city, the officials said. He likely died instantly, they added...

It was his first visit to Myanmar, and he entered the country with a tourist visa, according to Myanmar's state-run television.

Japanese video journalist Kenji Nagai, is seen in this handout photo taken in April, 2003 in Amman, Jordan. Nagai, 50, has been killed during a government crackdown on a democracy demonstration in the Myanmar capital of Yangon, Japan's Foreign Ministry said on September 27, 2007. (Handout via Kyodo/Reuters)

The official junta news service said that "warning" shots had been fired "over" the crowd.

The military junta also fired on school children in Rangoon!
Democratic Voice of Burma reported:

Sep 28, 2007 (DVB)–Government security forces beat up and fired upon young students in front of a school during yesterday’s brutal crackdown on large-scale protests in Rangoon, according to witnesses.

A group of students was marching from Pansodan bridge to the high school in Tamwe township, while many other students were inside the school compound. Soldiers and government guards fired automatic weapons into the air and at chest-level to prevent marching students from reaching the school.

“There were primary-grade students studying inside the school and some of them were hit as well,” said one of the witnesses.

Parents waiting to collect their children from school were also among those hit by bullets.

“They also rammed a truck with its headlights on into a crowd of students before arresting them at gunpoint,” said another witness, who stated that about 300 students were arrested in the crackdown.

“Teachers at the school had to take all the children and their parents inside the school building and give them shelter,” the witness continued.

A businessman from Singapore was shot (photo above) when he and his wife were traveling through Rangoon and their car that was blocked by riot police.
He describes the shooting at Ko Htike:

I am a Singaporean working in Myanmar for the past 11 years.
I was on my way to office( near Thuwana area) at around 4 to 4.30pm when the riot police block the road near "Super one, ILBC area". I stop my car with my wife and walk out. suddenly riot police and soldiers drove the truck around the corner and start firing shots at the crowd. we quickly ran to the side and squat down near the wall.

The soldiers came down and start to shoot at us. I was shot twice but i did not know what hit me. My both leg were bruised. the soldiers and police kicked us and the rest of the crowds into the drain and shouted that they would kill us if we look at them.

We were forced to stay in the drain for 15 mins and gather by the into a group.
A commander came and gather his troops and drove off to Tamwe direction.
After that ,i looked at my injures and and found injures on my left and right legs.
My wife found the "40mm riot control munnition" empty cartridge that the soldiers shoot at me.

I would like the embassy and media to know the actions of this army.
We are just ordinary citizen going to work and they just shot at us for no reason.
Imagine what they would do to the protesters!

I would like the Singapore government would make a strong stand against this violence crack down on the monks and people.

This Day in US History... Dems Slaughter 300 Black Republicans

Grand Old Partisan reminds us of this sad day in American History:

On this day in 1868, a mob of Democrats massacred nearly 300 African-American Republicans in Opelousas, Louisiana.

The savagery began when racist Democrats attacked a newspaper editor, a white Republican and schoolteacher for ex-slaves. Several African-Americans rushed to the assistance of their friend, and in response, Democrats went on a "Negro hunt," killing every African-American (all of whom were Republicans) in the area they could fnd.
Emerson Bentley, the white man who was murdered, was editor of a Republican newspaper in the community.

Unreal!... Democrats Redeploy Veteran's Benefits to Philippines

The democrats talked about helping veterans...

They just didn't say which country's veterans they were going to help.

The US lost thousands of soldiers securing freedom in the Philippines during World War II. Now, Democrats are going to give benefits to Filipino veterans while taking money from US veterans. (Photo of World War II Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Philippines)
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) at The Times-Gazette reported:

As a member of the House Veterans' Affairs (VA) Committee, the work of helping to ensure that those who have worn a military uniform receive the benefits and respect to which they were promised, is often rewarding.

A recent Veterans' Affairs Committee meeting took an unusual twist, which many people are surprised to learn about when I tell them.

This story is about a two-part process that led to unbelievable decisions.

First, the Veterans' Committee took away benefits from some very deserving American veterans.

Second, the committee gave benefits to veterans of another country who don't live in the United States, and never have lived in this country or been American citizens. I opposed both actions.

I am against the Filipino Veterans Equity Act of 2007 (H.R. 760). This legislation will provide benefits to Filipino World War II veterans.

These veterans were members of the Philippines military. They fought in the Pacific Theater, presumably on behalf of their native country.

They are citizens of the Philippines and not U.S. citizens. While these Filipino troops may have fought bravely, side-by-side, with American soldiers, they should be looking to the Philippines for veterans' benefits.

The United States has obligations to American veterans. We should not be held responsible for the benefits of the Philippines or any additional countries.

The Filipino veterans' provisions in HR 760 are similar to a plan passed by the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee.

If signed into law, it would provide full veterans' status to World War II era Filipino soldiers and even their survivors.

This would include pay for service related disabilities, survivor pay for service-connected deaths, as well as pensions and death benefits.

Those who are living in the Philippines, and are not U.S. citizens, would receive $6,000 to $8,400. Low-income widows would receive $3,600.

I have witnessed some contentious hearings in my years in public service. VA Committee Chairman Bob Filner, D-Calif., was determined to pass the Filipino Veterans Equity Act. When the exchanges between the chairman and ranking member (and former chairman) Steve Buyer, R-Ind., became too heated, Filner ordered a recess to plot strategy with the Democratic majority.

The measure passed on a straight party-line vote and Filner refused to recognize any additional Republican amendments.

Providing veterans' benefits to Filipino service members is only half of the issue.

Perhaps more egregious is how the Democrats offset the cost of the new benefits. Because of House PAYGO rules, any new entitlement spending (such as the Filipino Veterans Equity Act) must be funded by either a corresponding cut in existing spending or matching revenue gains.

In this case, the Democrats on the Veterans Committee voted to save nearly $1 billion by eliminating a $2,200 special monthly payment to veterans who are less than 100 percent disabled, but 60 percent or greater disabled.

Paying Filipino service members who served alongside American troops in the Philippines during World War II sets a dangerous precedent. There were certainly brave Koreans and Vietnamese who served alongside Americans during the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts.

There are some Afghanis and Iraqis who are serving nobly with their American counterparts today. The Filipino Veterans Equity Act makes it logical for the United States to pay foreign fighters from these conflicts future benefits as well.

It is outrageous that U.S. veterans who have a high level of disability have lost up to $2,200 per month in benefits.

Rather than using U.S. tax dollars to pay American veterans who have sacrificed, Chairman Filner and the Democrats on the Veterans' Affairs Committee decided that paying non-U.S. citizens was a more important national priority.

This does not serve our nation.
Hat Tip George M. Lauer

UPDATE: PST314 comments below that the benefits were owed to the Filipino soldiers since the islands were part of the American Commonwealth at that time and the benefits were promised them.

Busting the Bad Guys East of Baghdad

Pushing the bad guys out
Thursday, 27 September 2007

East of Ramadi, an Iraqi Policeman marches through a field in Abu Bali during a sweep for insurgents in clearance missions. Photo taken by U.S. Army Spc. Ricardo Branch 1st BCT Public Affairs.BAGHDAD — A year ago the area to the east of Ramadi was a haven for insurgents who attacked the city. These days much has changed in the surrounding rural lands of the east.

The once violent lands of the east are patrolled and guarded by the Abu-Bali Iraqi Police (IP) and Soldiers from Company A, 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment. Their latest mission was a joint operation, which gathered intelligence and pushed insurgents further from the city of Ramadi and its outlying towns.

“Today, we did routine clearance missions east of Ramadi,” said 1st Lt. Cory Sharbo, a platoon leader with Co. A, 3-69 Armor. “Normally we work alongside the IP, but today we’re only here to supervise.”

Sharbo, 25, from Pittsburgh, Pa., said that the area they patrol is much different than what people at home would normally expect when they think of Iraq.

“Everyone always thinks that it’s all desert,” Sharbo said. “Lots of the Soldiers look at this area we’re in with an almost Vietnam-style terrain with canals, tall grass and sweltering heat.”

During the operation, IPs scoured the surrounding countryside of Abu Waitha and began walking through neighborhoods greeting locals and asking if they needed any assistance. While they were meeting the locals, the IPs asked about terrorist activity in the area.

Sharbo said the mission was important because it served as a show of force for the IPs.

“Since we came into this area, the IP have shown lots of improvement,” he said. “They are more organized, able to do handle the different tasks required of a policeman and now handle detainees real well – they are running the show here...”

“The mission today helped a lot to cement the local support for the police and Coalition force efforts here,” Sharbo said. “The insurgents closed off all the business here and people were prisoners in their own homes. Now people can come and go as they please.”

For the Soldiers working in Abu Bali, serving with the Iraqi Security Forces and seeing the effects of their combined efforts on the people is a good feeling.

“Most of the success here is from the Iraqi Police,” said Spc. Dustin Dunckel, an infantryman with Co. A, 3-69 Armor. “They are from this area, and know the people and the land. By us building up a strong police force here, we’ve established a confidence among the IPs and the people.”

The missions the troops conduct with the Iraqi Security Forces are a far cry from the combat the troops experienced less than six months ago.

“When we first got here there were lots of improvised explosive devices, sniper and mortar fire here,” said the 26-year-old, Lansing, Mich., native. Dunckel added, “Working with the Iraqi Security Forces and patrolling the area has made this place safer now. The groups here are proud and stern Iraqis who I can trust to do their job well.”
(Story by U.S. Army Spc. Ricardo Branch, 1st BCT Public Affairs)
And, here is another story from the Iraqi News:

Life returns to normal in al-Mutanabbi St. after curfew lifted

Baghdad, Sept 23, ( Voices of Iraq) – Many Iraqi intellectuals and writers rejoiced at the Iraqi government's decision lifting a long-imposed curfew on Baghdad's al-Mutanabbi Street on Friday afternoons that aimed at putting an end to attacks against worshippers.

Al-Mutanabbi Street, named after one of the greatest Arab poets, was once the center of Baghdad's intellectual and literary life. In March 2007, a car bomb was detonated in the poet's street, killing 30 book merchants, buyers, and publishers, and wounding dozens others. The blast also destroyed many buildings and bookstores, including al-Maktabah al-Asriyya [The modern bookstore], the oldest of its kind in al-Mutannabi, in addition to al-Shabandar Café, considered by many as one of Baghdad's most famous landmarks.

In an interview with the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI), Fadil Thamir, the head of Iraqi Writers' Union, said, "The lifting of the curfew will help restore the cultural life to the street."

The curfew put an end to all cultural activities and gatherings in al-Mutanabbi and prevented scores of Iraqi intellectuals from practicing their Friday morning habit of buying books from the street.

"The terrorist attack that ripped through the street a few months ago targeted the Iraqi mind and a great cultural symbol (the street)," Thamir indicated.

Suheil Najm, a translator and writer, said that Iraqi culture will flourish despite all security, social, and political complications. "The existence of al-Mutanabbi is an indication of Iraqi cultural cohesion."

Meanwhile, Nasir Falih, an Iraqi poet, said that the lifting of the curfew that had been imposed on Friday afternoons demonstrates a remarkable improvement in the security situation in the capital.

"This means life has returned to normal in the street," he noted.

Describing the street as "one of the main victims of the new situation in Iraq," Ali al-Fawwaz, an Iraqi poet and critic, said that the street's literary cafes have turned into a political battlefield, given its location in the hot spot stretching from al-Bab al-Muazzam neighborhood, al-Fadl, Bab al-Sheikh to al-Maydan.

"Restoring cultural life to al-Mutanabbi means restoring life to all of Baghdad's streets and alleys," al-Fawwaz concluded.
Haider Ajina comments:

Targeting Baghdad's intellectual and literary center by the terrorists was aimed to break the spirit of the thinkers, poets and writers of Baghdad. The attacks tried to once again stifle intellectual freedom as the Baathists did. This has obviously not succeeded since the continued improving security in Baghdad is reviving al-Mutanabbi Street- Thanks to what we call the Surge or "Operation Rule of Law".

The news from MNF-Iraq brings to light the improvement and success we are now having in training the Iraqi police IP. The Iraqi Army IA has been proving itself thanks to our training and back up and now the IP will have its turn to provide security. With the Iraqi Army taking over more and more responsibility we are able to focus more efforts on developing and training the IP.

I have noticed that very little coverage was given to the speech the Iraqi Prime Minister Noori Almaliki gave at the UN. In fact The Iranian President had more coverage.

The Iraqi PM started his speech by Saying (my translation), "I am honored to speak to you as the First head of a Constitutional Government Representative of a free Iraq and its people, who’s obligation is to advance democracy, peace, freedom and cooperation with the International community."

What a great introduction and our Media reported little of it. How many heads of government in the Arab world can claim this same honor?

Why can the Iraqi PM claim this? Thanks to or men and women in Iraq tireless efforts, that is why.
Regards,
Haider Ajina

First Las Vegas-Style Casino Opens in Iraqi Quagmire

Good news from Iraq?

An American-style casino opens in Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan. (Kurd.net)

The first American-style casino is opening in Iraq.
Lawk Salih reported:

Sulaimaniyah, Not to be outdone by the establishment of the American University in Kurdistan autonomous region so called 'northern Iraq' in the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah, a ballsy Russian businessman, Vitaly Kouznetzov, has helped bring another, sexier, slice of American life to the Iraqi Kurds: he's brought a touch of Las Vegas to that same Kurdistan's cultural capital with the launch of an American-style casino.

Sulaimaniyah is located near the border with Iran (Iranian-Kurdistan), and has long been considered a bastion of liberalism in a part of the world known more for intolerance and chaotic bloodshed.

Public Radio International (PRI) interviewed Mr. Kouznetov, and in it he explains to his bemused interviewer, Lisa Mullin, just how he has managed to open a casino in a Muslim country riven by civil strife and religion-inspired killing.

Money to be made?

Very good customers, he notes - just look at their cars. Good peoples, different people.

Not at all worried about security, huh?

Actually, security is very good, he says, much to Mullin's surprise. Of course everyone is armed. Everyone carries Kalashnikovs, but we have a room by the door where they can check them, one hour, two hours, however long they need.

Booze? Just beer. Well, that's better than nothing. We hear it's hot there.

Iraqi Kurdistan is a secular region, and the most secular city is Sulaimaniyah, the Kurdistan's cultural capital.
And, local children started classes this month...

Good for the US Senators---

Pass it on- "Our Cause"
With trust in the federal government at an all-time low since the beginning of this year, it is good to at least see the two sides come together to condemn the slaughter in Burma.

(BBC)
President Bush released this statement today in support of the democracy protesters:

The world is watching the people of Burma take to the streets to demand their freedom, and the American people stand in solidarity with these brave individuals. We feel admiration and compassion for the monks and peaceful protesters calling for democracy. Every civilized nation has a responsibility to stand up for people suffering under a brutal military regime like the one that has ruled Burma for too long. I call on all nations that have influence with the regime to join us in supporting the aspirations of the Burmese people and to tell the Burmese Junta to cease using force on its own people, who are peacefully expressing their desire for change. By its own account, the Junta has already killed at least nine non-violent demonstrators, and many others have been injured and arrested as they seek to express their views peacefully.

I urge the Burmese soldiers and police not to use force on their fellow citizens. I call on those who embrace the values of human rights and freedom to support the legitimate demands of the Burmese people.

The Horror!! 19,000 Dead Terrorists in Iraq

To the Horror of Democrats & Terrorist Regimes- The US Is Winning in Iraq
And, quite impressively...

For the first time sine the war began the US military has released data on militants killed in Iraq.
USA Today reported:

More than 19,000 militants have been killed in fighting with coalition forces since the insurgency began more than four years ago, according to military statistics released for the first time.

The statistics show that 4,882 militants were killed in clashes with coalition forces this year, a 25% increase over all of last year.

The increase in enemy deaths this year reflects more aggressive tactics adopted by American forces and an additional 30,000 U.S. troops ordered by the White House this year.
This is not good news for Michael Moore's Minutemen:

Via Iraq Coalition Casualty Count 9-27-2007.

And, to add insult to injury--
Fewer Saudis are choosing to explode in Iraq today.
It is truly a bad day for US democrats.

Oh... And, the US military had their lowest number of fatalities this month than they have had any month all year.

Iran & Zimbabwe To Form Coalition of Peace

Halleluiah!

The anti-American leaders of Iran and Zimbabwe met at the UN this week and decided it was high-time they formed a Coalition of Peace.
Where Hezbollah and Hamas fit in with this new coalition was not discussed.
Fars News reported:

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- The leaders of Iran and Zimbabwe are looking to form a self-styled "coalition for peace".

The government in Harare confirmed President Robert Mugabe and his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discussed the formation of such a coalition on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

"The United States and its allies are so bloodthirsty they don't want to see peace anywhere in the world," deputy information minister Bright Matonga told AFP.

"Our leaders are saying there is a need for like-minded countries to come together and form a coalition that will discuss constructive developmental issues."

The Herald newspaper quoted Zimbabwe's ambassador to the United Nations, Boniface Chidyausiku, as saying Mugabe and Ahmadinejad discussed "areas of mutual interest" in New York.

"The leaders also discussed the need to come up with a coalition for peace in response to the aggression of global bullies," Chidyausiku added.

Mugabe has forged new alliances with countries in Asia as well as buttressed ties with traditional US foes such as Cuba and Iran.

Commentators saw the idea of a formal alliance among states in the US doghouse as a logical move.

Lawyer and political analyst Johannes Tomana said the coalition would work if members are committed to its objectives.

"If they are coming together for a common goal and have unity of purpose there is no doubt that it will work," Tomana said.

"It's a question of determination. Look at what Britain has done. It has managed to rope in the EU into its bilateral row with Zimbabwe and the entire bloc has rallied against Zimbabwe."

Augustine Timbe, a commentator for the Chronicle newspaper, said Iran and Zimbabwe "share a common pain inflicted by the West" and should find more countries in similar circumstances to form an effective alliance.

The burgeoning alliance between Zimbabwe and Iran has again highlighted the rift between Mugabe and his former Western allies who have imposed sanctions on his government.

Matonga argued that events in Iraq meant the United States should be slapped with sanctions.

"Bush is the tyrant and a hypocrite for that matter. Look at what he has done to Iraq. There is no functioning government anymore," he said.

"He turns a blind eye to the damage he has caused in Iraq and Afghanistan and now he wants to usurp the powers of the UN and punish those who do not share his thinking.

"The US should have sanctions imposed on it and not the countries that Bush says should be punished."
The first act by the Coalition of Peace will be to wipe Israel off the map.

CRACKDOWN IN BURMA- China & Russia Block UN Action!

UPDATE: NINE ARE DEAD!

The BBC again has video of the protests in Rangoon HERE.

Burmese blogger Ko Htike has several photos of the brutal beatdown by the junta including this one.

Democratic Voice of Burma reports that residents surrounded the security forces who raided the monastery:

Local residents in South Okkalapa township have surrounded security forces who returned to Ngway Kyar Yan monastery to arrest the abbot following last night’s raids.

At least 130 monks were detained in the raid on the monastery, and personal belongings including robes, rice and 2,000,000 Kyat in cash were seized.

Security forces returned at around noon today to arrest the abbot and took up positions surrounding the monastery.

But hundreds of thousands of local residents, outraged by the raids, surrounded the troops, shouting anti-government slogans and demanding the immediate release of the detained monks.

“The military is surrounding the monastery and firing warning shots to disperse the crowds, but people are standing firm,” said a bystander.

The latest reports from the scene say that more people are joining the crowds.

The Democratic Voice of Burma reports on new rounds of violence in Rangoon:

Sep 27, 2007 (DVB)—About 700 monks and civilians were arrested late last night following a brutal attack by the military on at least three monasteries in Rangoon.

At the Ngway Kyar Yan Monastery in South Okkalapa township eyewitnesses described the scene of the arrests as unbelievable.

"Many spots of blood could still be seen in the morning in the monastery compound and nearby," one witness said.

Eyewitnesses said three trucks filled with soldiers arrived at the monastery at about 12:15am this morning. When the monks refused the soldiers' demand to open the gate, a fight broke out in which both sides hurled bricks at each other for about 20 minutes.

In this photo made available by the Democratic Voice of Burma, soldiers man a checkpoint Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in downtown Yangon, Myanmar. Overnight Myanmar security forces raided two Buddhist monasteries beating up and hauling away more than 100 monks following a day of violent confrontation. (AP Photo/Democratic Voice of Burma, HO)

China and Russia blocked firm statements against the junta at the UN:

"What's going on in Burma is outrageous," U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said after a luncheon meeting of ministers from the eight major industrialized nations. "The regime needs to stop using violence against peaceful people and get to a dialogue so that they can have reconciliation."

China and Russia contend that the situation in Myanmar is an internal affair and doesn't threaten international peace and security — as required for Security Council action — so getting them to agree to the press statement was considered a positive step.

Tammy Bruce Outs the Far Left "Gestapo" Media (Video)

Tammy Bruce talks on The O'Reilly Factor about the serious gestapo-like tactics of the Far Left-mainstream media alliance. This includes the familiar practice of smearing individuals who they do not agree with (Example: O'Reilly) or who carry an opposing message (Example: Petraeus) without any basis of reality to their charges.

Tammy Bruce explains that the Left does this so that the person who is being attacked will then be marginalized- their voice silenced:

Tammy Bruce at her blog adds this:

In actuality, Media Matters' message, when they attack a Bill O'Reilly is really a message to everyone else: Look at what we do to him if he says something we can twist. Imagine what we can do to you. Also meant as an intimidating warning is the fact that MM (the new SS) tapes and watches everything non-leftists do and say in the media.

Ultimately, you will see these sorts of attacks ramped up as we move into the 12 months prior to the '08 election. The left, Soros, and his political and media thugs, cannot withstand independent voices and they will work overtime to silence them. Let's make sure these new gestapos fail.
Bill O'Reilly is dealing with the smear merchants in the mainstream media right now who have dishonestly portrayed him as a racist by cherry-picking from a radio interview he had with liberal commentator Juan Williams.
Of course, all of the mainstream media outlets are running with this flimsy story that is based on a lie- Pretty sick stuff!

Earl Ofari Hutchinson comes to Bill's defense.

Brian Maloney offers Bill O'Reilly some sage advice.

Silly Leftist Jon Stewart Props Up Bolivian Marxist Evo Morales

LEADING LEFTIST COMIC APPLAUDS MARXIST PRESIDENT EVO MORALES...

Unbelievable...
Jon Stewart and fans at The Daily Show shower Bolivian Marxist President Evo Morales with praise!

The audience thinks it was especially wonderful that Evo's government took control of private industry!... Now, that got a big round of applause.
And, when Evo Morales bashes Bush- He's da bomb!

Jon Stewart and his hip Leftist crowd bought into Evo's Marxist rant-
like a bunch of foolish adolescents- who skipped history class to go get high:
(8 minutes- nothing but praise)

Is it really that surprising that the leading Leftist comic on television is promoting communism?
But, Evo is a Native American communist- Isn't that cool?
...An Indigenous Communist? ...Sweet!

Here is the former coca farmer and Hugo Chavez lackey with a painting of one of his idols:

Former Bolivian Congressman and political dissident Jose Brechner wrote in with this about the shocking display on The Daily Show:

Thank you Jim, I saw John Stewart´s show earlier today. Morales is so limited that he can´t grab a joke. He becomes very agressive when somebody in Bolivia asks him a question that he couldn´t understand. Imagine this guy as Ahmadinejad, he looks quiet and humble, but if he would have the power he´d kill us all.

What worries me more, is the favorable reaction of the American public towards this guy. He was at The Cooper Union in Manhattan and the students loved it when he said that capitalism is the origin of all evil.
Worrisome, indeed!

Related... Gorbachev warned Russia lately of the growing threat of Stalinism.
He needs to come deliver that same message here.

Ayatollah Ali Sistani Blasts Foreign Media For Bogus Reporting!!

“Be as a great mountain – he added – immoveable before the attempts of some media to attack our unity, exaggerating the number of the victims and speaking of confessional war”.

Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani
Asia News
September 26, 2007
Hello, Lancet?... Hello?

The powerful and revered Iraqi spiritual leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani issued a statement today blasting the foreign press for making it sound like Iraq is in a civil war.
Maybe Ayatollah Sistani reads the blogs?
Iranian Mehr News reported:

TEHRAN, Sept. 26 (MNA) – The Iraqi spiritual leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani has issued a statement demanding resistance against certain Arab satellite news networks which try to convince the viewers that Iraq is entangled in a tribal war, AFP reported on Wednesday.

The statement was issued after a group of Iraqi tribes met with Ayatollah Sistani in the holy city of Najaf.

“Your country is rich and I want you to set aside differences between yourselves and your Sunni brothers and stand like a formidable mountain against attempts by certain satellite networks which try to disrupt this unity because these networks exaggerate about the reports of deaths and explosions and depict them in a way as if tribal war is underway in Iraq,” the statement read which was released by the information office of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council.

It is the first reaction by the grand ayatollah against foreign media which try to inflame hatred among Iraqi civilians.

Certain Arab networks such as Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera exaggerate about the scope of explosions and armed struggles in Iraq.

These networks do interviews with certain persons who claim the government is unable to establish security in Iraq.

In their interviews with these people the networks try to convince the viewers that Iraq is entangled in communal clashes.
It's too bad that Joe Biden and the other foolish US senators would have read this before they voted to split Iraq into pieces today!

(How does the US Senate divide another foreign sovereign democracy into pieces, by the way?... No wonder the democrats call the US occupiers. They don't want it but think Iraq is theirs to divide up, anyway.)

Wife of Kidnapped Israeli Soldier Confronts Ahmadinejad at UN

The wife of kidnapped Israeli soldier Ehud Goldwasser confronted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the United Nations yesterday.

In the front row at yesterday's press conference Karnit Goldwasser held pictures of captive Israeli soldiers before she confronted the Iranian president. (YNET)

Karnit Goldwasser was surprised at the respect that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was recieveing from the media in New York.
YNET reported:

"He came in and started to smile at everyone. The reporters gave him great respect... As he walked by me he said hi to me, because he still didn't know who I was. He thought I was one of the supporting journalists, and that he was walking into a place where everyone loved him. He seemed very pleased," Goldwasser recounted.

Goldwasser said she was not afraid to present the president with her question, and asked him, "Hello, my name is Karnit, the wife of Ehud Goldwasser, the soldier who has been held captive for over a year. Since you are the man that is behind the kidnapping due to the aid you grant Hizbullah, why don't you allow the Red Cross to visit the two soldiers?" she asked.

The president ignored the question.

Katie Couric Comes Clean

Katie Couric makes up for disappointing her fans while in Iraq...
Today's Examiner report on a speech by CBS "Evening News" anchor Katie Couric, of course, follows the admission earlier this week that The New York Times gives discounts to antiwar liberal democratic groups.
Katie spouted off about every liberal talking point in the book during her speech at the National Press Club Tuesday evening:

“Everyone in this room would agree that people in this country were misled in terms of the rationale of this war,” said Couric, adding that it is “pretty much accepted” that the war in Iraq was a mistake.

“I’ve never understood why [invading Iraq] was so high on the administration’s agenda when terrorism was going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan and that [Iraq] had no true connection with al Qaeda.”

Further, Couric said the Bush administration botched the war effort, calling it “accepted truths” that it erred by“disbanding the Iraq military, and leaving 100,000 Sunni men feeling marginalized and angry...[and] whether there were enough boots on the ground, the feeling that we’d be welcomed as liberators and didn’t need to focus as much on security.” She added “I’d feel totally comfortable saying any of that at some point, if required, on television.”

"...The whole culture of wearing flags on our lapel and saying ‘we’ when referring to the United States and, even the ‘shock and awe’ of the initial stages, it was just too jubilant and just a little uncomfortable. And I remember feeling, when I was anchoring the ‘Today’ show, this inevitable march towards war and kind of feeling like, ‘Will anybody put the brakes on this?’ And is this really being properly challenged by the right people? And I think, at the time, anyone who questioned the administration was considered unpatriotic and it was a very difficult position to be in.”
Here's another look at Katie's Botched War effort:

Only a liberal could make this war look like a failure at the expense of the nation.
It's just too bad "everyone in this room would agree" that the liberals control the American media.

Flopping Aces has more.

UPDATE: As if the ugly mainstream media could not get more twisted- they are now playing gotcha games with dead soldiers.

Children of Che Visit Iran

Two siblings of murdering revolutionary figure Che Guevara traveled to Iran this week to visit with high-ranking officials of the regime.
Mehr News reported:

Two children of Ernesto Che Guevara met Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi here on Tuesday.

Aleida (pictured) and Camilo Guevara are currently visiting Iran and are scheduled to meet with high-ranking Iranian officials.

The culture minister paid tribute to Che Guevara and said Iran and Cuba have one point in common, which is the fact that both have experienced U.S. hostility.

Saffar Harandi added that Cuba has made good progress over the years, and congratulated Aleida and Camilo on their country’s great progress in the fields of education and health.

He went on to say that Cuba’s independence has been the main factor driving its development and expressed hope that Cubans’ resistance would always be inspired by Che.

Aleida Guevara said she was glad to be able to visit Iran, adding, “We are here as representatives of Cuba to announce the solidarity of the Cuban nation with the people of Iran.”

She added, “Every Cuban individual learned the motto ‘I can’ and was able to make good progress and improve their standard of living.”

Born into a middle-class family in Rosario, Argentina, Che Guevara was a strong opponent of U.S. influence in the Third World. He helped guide the Castro regime on its leftward and pro-Communist path.

He disappeared from Cuba in 1965, reappearing the following year as an insurgent leader in Bolivia. He was captured by the Bolivian army and shot near Vallegrande on October 9, 1967.

The BBC reported:

Thousands of Burmese Buddhist monks and other protesters have been marching in Rangoon despite a bloody crackdown by police. At least one death is reported.
Monks' shaved heads stained with blood could be seen at the Shwedagon Pagoda where police charged against protesters demanding the end of military rule.

Some marchers started for the city centre while others headed for the home of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Security forces reportedly ringed six monasteries on the ninth day of unrest.

This is a battle of wills between Burma's two most powerful institutions, the military and the monk-hood, and the outcome is still unclear, the BBC's South East Asia correspondent, Jonathan Head, reports.

One unidentified person was shot dead and five received gunshot injuries, Rangoon hospital sources told Reuters news agency.

Bangkok Pundit is following the protests in neighboring Burma.
Pajamas Media also reported on the growing democracy protests.

Noted pro-democracy politician Win Naing was arrested overnight at his home in Yangon.

Security forces fired shots above the crowd. Earlier, soldiers sealed off the Shwedagon Pagoda, the focal point of the recent demonstrations against decades of military rule. Police used tear gas and beat Buddhist monks who tried to enter the shrine. (Euronews)

Bollinger Backlash: Iran Blames Zionists & Neocons-- Students & Faculty Weep For Mahmoud

What's more nuts?
The fact that Iran blames Zionists and Neocons for Bollinger's opening remarks or the fact that Columbia professors and students think he was attacking Mahmoud with pro-Bush "talking points"?
The New York Sun reported:

Students at the university's School of International and Public Affairs said they were planning to send a petition to Mr. Bollinger later this week telling him that his behavior was out of line...

A professor of history, Eric Foner, said faculty members objected more to the content than the form of Mr. Bollinger's remarks. "He accepts as true claims that are being made about Iran's role in Iraq, which are being put forward by people whose credibility on weapons in the Middle East has not always been 100% reliable," Mr. Foner said.
Meanwhile in Tehran...
Iranian politicians say that President Bollinger of Columbia University was goaded on by Zionists and Neoconservatives who hold so much power on today's liberal university campuses.
Mehr News reported:

Columbia University President Lee Bollinger’s insult to Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad seriously lowered the status of the university, MP Kazem Jalali said here on Tuesday.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a Majlis session, Jalali said Bollinger was goaded on by the Zionists and the U.S. neoconservatives.

Ahmadinejad delivered a speech on Monday at New York’s Columbia University.

The school’s president used disrespectful epithets in his introduction of the Iranian president.

Ahmadinejad responded by saying that Bollinger’s remarks were an insult to the intelligence of the audience, adding that that he had fallen under the influence of hostile elements in the U.S. press and political scene.

Jalali, who is also a university professor, praised Ahmadinejad’s decision to speak at the university, saying it proved that Iranians favor negotiation and interaction.

Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaeddin Borujerdi told reporters it was expected that some Zionists would protest against Ahmadinejad’s speech at Columbia, but the university president’s disrespectful words came as a surprise.

“The rhetoric he used was not becoming for an academic and a host,” he added.

MP Ali Abbaspur stated that the insult to the Iranian president was the result of the “arrogant nature” of the university’s officials.

Bollinger's introduction was “very harsh”, said Hamid Dabashi, (pictured) a professor of Iranian studies at Columbia University.

“Inviting him and then turning around and alienating and insulting an entire nation, whose representative this man happens to be, is simply inappropriate,” the Associated Press quoted Dabashi as saying.

Meanwhile, the presidents of six leading Iranian universities wrote a letter to Bollinger, criticizing him for insulting the Iranian president.

Bayefsky: "What Ahmadinejad Said Was a Declaration of War"

United Nations expert Anne Bayefsky editor at EYE on the UN was interviewed about Ahmadinejad's talk today.

Bayefsky explained that what Ahmadinejad said today was nothing short of a declaration of war and that as far as he is concerned the nuclear issue is over. Ahmadinejad also rejected Zionism, saying it was 60 years of illegitimacy.

Bayefsky was a guest today on the Glenn Beck Show and spoke about Ahmadinejad's rant at the General Assembly.

Bayefsky also reveals that this was Mahmoud's forum and he was loving it:

"...With 119 countries out of 192 member states belonging to the non-aligned movement. 56 of those non-aligned countries the single largest voting block make up the Organization of Islamic Conference. The UN is their playing field. They know it. And Ahmadinejad enjoyed every minute of it today."
Anne Bayefsky also reveals this shocker- That Iran currently sits on the Disarmament Commission at the UN.
And, Iran of all countries, is helping plan the next Conference on Racism.

Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi Talks About Homosexuality & the Mullahs on Glenn Beck

Iranian human rights activist Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi joined Glenn Beck today to talk about all of those homosexuals that don't exist in Ahmadinejad's Iran.

It is interesting as Glenn Beck noted- the Columbia University audience only reacted negatively when Ahmadinejad said there was no homosexuals in Iran, not when he talked about wiping out Israel.

Michelle Malkin did an interview for HotAir yesterday with Banafsheh down at Columbia University protesting the Ahmadinejad speech.

Ahmadinejad Meets With US Islamic Leaders

Iranian Mehr News is reporting that Ahmadinejad met with US Islamic leaders today in New York City:

Today, all nations are seeking peace, freedom and lasting security, Iranian President Mahmud Ahamdinejad said in a meeting of U.S. Islamic leaders on Monday.

People everywhere are seeking real freedom and feel weary of the current world conditions, he noted.

The only way to put the world affairs back into order is to return to justice and the worship of God and that is what the hearts are yearning for, he stated.

The president said the U.S. administration with its great financial resources is trying to prevent people from discovering the truth.

Iran condemns the production and use of nuclear weapons and believes that major powers should destroy their nuclear arsenals, Ahmadinejad said.

He pointed to Israeli crimes against Palestinians, saying, “Resolutions issued regarding the situation in Palestine are not implemented and I feel sure that American people do not like this and admit that Palestinians are right.”

Holocaust became a pretext for the occupation of Palestine and driving millions of people out of their homes and it is important to study various dimensions of this phenomenon, the president stated.

FATWA ON BOLLINGER! ---Tough Questions For Ahmadinejad

Iraqi-American Haider Ajina sends a list of questions for Mahmoud.
Don't expect the any Western media outlet to ask these questions of Ahmadinejad any time too soon.

Greetings Jim,

I have been very surprised that no one is putting some hard question to Ahmadinejad like the following:

** Who is Imam Almehdi?
** What has to happen before Almehdi returns?
** What is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad doing for the return of Almehdi?
** When is Armageddon coming and what is he doing to prepare his country for it?
** What has happened to Ayatollah Mohammad Kazemeni Boroujerdi and his followers...(Boroujerdi advocates separating religion from politics and government as do many Shia Muslims in Nejaf, Iraq).

** What does he think of Ayatollah Mohammad Kazemeni Boroujerdi ideas regarding religion and politics?
** What is the power of the supreme leader and supreme council, who elects them and how do they get on the ballot?
Why does the supreme council have to approve all who go on a ballot for elections?

And on and on...

His answers to a few of these questions and others like them will reveal how out of touch he is with ordinary Muslim and Shiite beliefs. The questions will also show the danger of his belief and what a farce the claim is of democracy in Iran.
And, Iranian-American Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi sends the latest from Iran--- A FATWA ON BOLLINGER:

I just heard from Iran...one of the big time
Ahmadinejad supporters, member of the Majles has attacked Bollinger and has
called for the Mullahs to put a fatwa on him and the various heads of
Columbia for insulting Ahmadinejad!
The Iranian Republic News Agency also lashed out at Bollinger:

"It is a shame for an academic center that such hateful and impolite words are uttered by its president. It is regretful that the media owners easily elicit what they want the president of a reputable university to say in his lecture," they said in the letter.

"Your statement about Iran was full of undocumented charges brought by the media and some of which were the outcome of misunderstanding which needs dialogue and closer study," it said.
Yes- We must really study if the Holocaust was an actual event.
Blah-

And, another member of the Iranian Parliament lashed out at Bollinger, via IRNA:

Member of Parliament (Majlis) Abdolmajid Shoja said on Tuesday that the offensive behavior of Columbia University chancellor towards President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad betrayed the US administration's weakness in facing Iran.

Shoja also told IRNA that all nations worldwide respect their guests, but he (chancellor of Colombia University) insulted the high-ranking Iranian official (president) in a country which claims to be cradle of democracy, culture and civilization.

They had better raise their critics and viewpoints in form of questions, he said, adding that the US academic could have spoken to Ahmadinejad more politely.

He said that the US tries to wage a propaganda campaign to suffocate Iran's voice, adding that Iran is the symbol of rightness in the world, therefore, the US does not want its voice heard by other nations.

Bush Addresses United Nations- Cuban Delegation Walks Out

Good!... Good for President George W. Bush!
The Dissident President gave his speech promoting freedom at the United Nations today.
Bush also lashed out at a few brutal regimes.
It was too much for the Cuban delegation...

They walked out!
HotAir has the video.

U.S. President George W. Bush addresses the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at UN headquarters. (AP Photo/Ed Betz)

President George W. Bush is speaking at the United Nations.
Here are a few points from his talk to the General Assembly that did not go over too well with the Marxist Cuban Delegation:

Every civilized nation has a responsibility to stand up for people suffering under dictatorship. In Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Zimbabwe, Syria, and Iran, brutal regimes deny their people the fundamental rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration. Americans are also outraged by the situation in Burma, where a military junta has imposed a 19-year reign of fear.

Today, President Bush announced a series of steps to help bring peaceful change to Burma. The President urges the United Nations and all nations to use their diplomatic and economic leverage to help the Burmese people reclaim their freedom. The United States will:

Tighten economic sanctions on the leaders of the regime and their financial backers. Impose an expanded visa ban on those responsible for the most egregious violations of human rights, as well as their family members.

Facilitate the efforts of humanitarian groups working to alleviate suffering in Burma.

The United Nations must insist on free speech, free assembly, and, ultimately, free and competitive elections in Cuba as the nation transitions from the long dictatorship of Fidel Castro.

The United Nations must insist on freedom for the people of Zimbabwe. President Robert Mugabe's government has cracked down violently on peaceful calls for reform, and forced millions to flee their homeland.

The United Nations must live up to its promise to promptly deploy peacekeeping forces to Darfur. The U.S. has provided more than $2 billion in humanitarian and peacekeeping aid to Darfur since 2005, and has responded to the repression in Sudan and genocide in the Darfur region with tough sanctions against those responsible for the violence. The President looks forward to attending a Security Council meeting on Peace and Security in Africa, chaired by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Mahmoud was not impressed much, either.

Ahmadinejad Embraced By Anti-Zionist Jews in New York

Sometimes life offers you something that challenges all reason...
Yesterday, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attacked Israel and cast doubt on the Holocaust.
Yesterday, leaders of a Jewish sect embraced Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

(ISNA)

The Iranian Republic News Agency announced on Sunday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would meet with political and religious leaders while in the United States:

He added that talking with independent and popular US scholars will be among other programs of the visit... Ahmadinejad further announced that delivering a speech at Columbia University and holding discussions with a number of American Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders will be among his other programs.
On Monday, Mahmoud was embraced by leaders of the Natorei Kartai sect in New York City.

(ISNA)

The Jerusalem Post reported on the meeting Monday:

Natorei Karta spokesman Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss on Tuesday called Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad "an advocate of peace," on the eve of the group's meeting with the controversial leader in New York.

GP on the BBC

I was asked to participate in a discussion today on BBC radio on Ahmadinejad's speech at Columbia University. The question we are lookuing at is: "Does freedom of speech end when denial of the holocaust starts?"

The programme airs today (Tuesday) between 1800 and 1900 London time and 1300 and 1400 East Coast Time in the States.

The Ugly Side of Another Failed Black Democrat

On July 30th 1866:

White Democrats, led by police, attacked a convention of Black and white Republicans in New Orleans. More than 40 persons were killed, and at least 150 were wounded. Gen. Philip H. Sheridan, Military commander of the state, said, "It was not riot; it was an absolute massacre...which the mayor and the police of the city perpetrated without the shadow of a necessity."
Those ugly democratic attacks continue to this day.
At The New York Times today, another failed black leader, Bob Herbert, attempts to rewrite history with his ugly hit piece "The Ugly Side of the G.O.P." . And, of course, MoveOn.org's favorite discount rag is more than happy to push the democratic line:

I applaud the thousands of people, many of them poor, who traveled from around the country to protest in Jena, La., last week. But what I’d really like to see is a million angry protesters marching on the headquarters of the National Republican Party in Washington.

The G.O.P. has spent the last 40 years insulting, disenfranchising and otherwise stomping on the interests of black Americans...

...Republicans improperly threw black voters off the rolls in Florida in the contested presidential election of 2000, and sent Florida state troopers into the homes of black voters to intimidate them in 2004.

Blacks have been remarkably quiet about this sustained mistreatment by the Republican Party, which says a great deal about the quality of black leadership in the U.S. It’s time for that passive, masochistic posture to end.
Of course, Herbert has no facts to back up his liberal talking points.
If Herbert was honest at all, maybe he would report which party has really helped the blacks in this country.

Deroy Murdock wrote a brilliant history lesson at National Review that Herbert ought to read some time. Not only does Murdoch go over the numerous lynchings, murders and violent attacks on blacks by democrats, but he adds these facts that Herbert failed to mention in his liberal smack piece today:

Republicans also have supported legislation favorable to blacks, often against intense Democratic headwinds:

In 1865, Congressional Republicans unanimously backed the 13th Amendment, which made slavery unconstitutional. Among Democrats, 63 percent of senators and 78 percent of House members voted: "No."

In 1866, 94 percent of GOP senators and 96 percent of GOP House members approved the 14th Amendment, guaranteeing all Americans equal protection of the law. Every congressional Democrat voted: "No."

February 28, 1871: The GOP Congress passed the Enforcement Act, giving black voters federal protection.

February 8, 1894: Democratic President Grover Cleveland and a Democratic Congress repealed the GOP's Enforcement Act, denying black voters federal protection.

January 26, 1922: The U.S. House adopted Rep. Leonidas Dyer's (R., Mo.) bill making lynching a federal crime. Filibustering Senate Democrats killed the measure.

May 17, 1954: As chief justice, former three-term governor Earl Warren (R., Calif.) led the U.S. Supreme Court's desegregation of government schools via the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision. GOP President Dwight Eisenhower's Justice Department argued for Topeka, Kansas's black school children. Democrat John W. Davis, who lost a presidential bid to incumbent Republican Calvin Coolidge in 1924, defended "separate but equal" classrooms.

September 24, 1957: Eisenhower deployed the 82nd Airborne Division to desegregate Little Rock's government schools over the strenuous resistance of Governor Orval Faubus (D., Ark.).

May 6, 1960: Eisenhower signs the GOP's 1960 Civil Rights Act after it survived a five-day, five-hour filibuster by 18 Senate Democrats.

July 2, 1964: Democratic President Johnson signed the 1964 Civil Rights Act after former Klansman Robert Byrd's 14-hour filibuster and the votes of 22 other Senate Democrats (including Tennessee's Al Gore, Sr.) failed to scuttle the measure. Illinois Republican Everett Dirksen rallied 26 GOP senators and 44 Democrats to invoke cloture and allow the bill's passage. According to John Fonte in the January 9, 2003, National Review, 82 percent of Republicans so voted, versus only 66 percent of Democrats.

True, Senator Barry Goldwater (R., Ariz.) opposed this bill the very year he became the GOP's presidential standard-bearer. However, Goldwater supported the 1957 and 1960 Civil Rights Acts and called for integrating Arizona's National Guard two years before Truman desegregated the military. Goldwater feared the 1964 Act would limit freedom of association in the private sector, a controversial but principled libertarian objection rooted in the First Amendment rather than racial hatred.

June 29, 1982: President Ronald Reagan signed a 25-year extension of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The Republican party also is the home of numerous "firsts." Among them:

Until 1935, every black federal legislator was Republican. America's first black U.S. Representative, South Carolina's Joseph Rainey, and our first black senator, Mississippi's Hiram Revels, both reached Capitol Hill in 1870. On December 9, 1872, Louisiana Republican Pinckney Benton Stewart "P.B.S." Pinchback became America's first black governor.

August 8, 1878: GOP supply-siders may hate to admit it, but America's first black Collector of Internal Revenue was former U.S. Rep. James Rapier (R., Ala.).

October 16, 1901: GOP President Theodore Roosevelt invited to the White House as its first black dinner guest Republican educator Booker T. Washington. The pro-Democrat Richmond Times newspaper warned that consequently, "White women may receive attentions from Negro men." As Toni Marshall wrote in the November 9, 1995, Washington Times, when Roosevelt sought reelection in 1904, Democrats produced a button that showed their presidential nominee, Alton Parker, beside a white couple while Roosevelt posed with a white bride and black groom. The button read: "The Choice Is Yours."

GOP presidents Gerald Ford in 1975 and Ronald Reagan in 1982 promoted Daniel James and Roscoe Robinson to become, respectively, the Air Force's and Army's first black four-star generals.

November 2, 1983: President Reagan established Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a national holiday, the first such honor for a black American.

President Reagan named Colin Powell America's first black national-security adviser while GOP President George W. Bush appointed him our first black secretary of state.

President G.W. Bush named Condoleezza Rice America's first black female NSC chief, then our second (consecutive) black secretary of State. Just last month, one-time Klansman Robert Byrd and other Senate Democrats stalled Rice's confirmation for a week. Amid unanimous GOP support, 12 Democrats and Vermont Independent James Jeffords opposed Rice — the most "No" votes for a State designee since 14 senators frowned on Henry Clay in 1825.

"The first Republican I knew was my father, and he is still the Republican I most admire," Rice has said. "He joined our party because the Democrats in Jim Crow Alabama of 1952 would not register him to vote. The Republicans did. My father has never forgotten that day, and neither have I."
Maybe next time Herbert really wants to help out the blacks in this country, he will condemn the party with the only former Ku Klux Klan Kleagle sitting in the US Senate.
If he really wanted to be honest and cared about helping blacks, that would be a good start.

More... Heather Mac Donald writes more about the "orgy of Jena coverage that will impede performance improvement and strengthen the black victim mentality."
Via Michelle Malkin

UPDATE: Michael Menkus sends a report on another Dem Slaughter of Blacks and Republicans:

I saw your post about the New Orleans Massacre. In 1870, Georgia had one as well. Basically, the Democrats in the General Assembly expelled all of the newly elected Black Legislators under the claim that Blacks could vote but were not allowed to hold office. Several hundred armed Blacks and Republicans marched from Albany GA to Camillla GA. As they arrived at the Courthouse Square, the whites of the town fired upon the marchers. As the marchers fled, the Sheriff's men pursued the blacks and killed the wounded and the ones that they could catch.
See HERE and HERE.

Well, at least democrats are making some slight progress, anyway.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni Speaks Out Against Ahmadinejad At UN Protest

We call on the United Nations to lock its doors to Ahmadinejad with a sign saying- "You have no place among Free Nations!" Iran is not only a threat to Israel and a threat to its neighbors but Iran is a threat to the entire world.

Tzipi Livni-
Israel Foreign Minister
Outside the United Nations
September 24, 2007
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni gave a very moving speech today outside the United Nations. This is a very important video:
(2:00 minutes)

Tzipi Livni:

Today we call on the United Nations to live up to that promise "Never Again" -Not for the past but for the future.

We call on the United Nations to lock its doors to Ahmadinejad with a sign saying- "You have no place among free nations!"

"This is not a rally of fear- It is a rally of determination!"
This video was sent by some very concerned Jewish friends at the protest today in New York City outside of the United Nations.

Iranian-Americans -1 Moonbats -0

Friend Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi an Iranian-American and fellow bloggers were at the Anti-Ahmadinejad protests today outside of Columbia University.

The moonbats made a showing today at Columbia University complete with their "Ahmadinejad is bad but Bush is worse" orange sign.

Front Page wrote a piece on Banafsheh back in March 2005:

Banafsheh's father is a celebrated journalist and writer whose two main passions in life were Cinema and geo-politics. He was one of the pre-eminent champions of world cinema in Iran and Iranian cinema abroad. When the revolution began, though he had plenty of job opportunities outside Iran and could have fled, he chose to stay behind along with quite a few friends and relatives in order to protect the integrity of social evolution that was occurring in light of the revolution. He was put under house arrest for several years.

Banafsheh's mother was one of the managing directors of the Iranian National Handicraft Center in the ‘70’s. This was a wonderful organization that through sales in various specifically designed cooperative stores set up by the ministry of commerce, around Iran, artisans and crafts people were able to sell their and did not have to go through the bazaars where they may have been cheated. It was a win/win situation for all. This organization did so well, that my mother was asked to open the N.Y. based headquarters in ’72. My mom turned it into a successful enterprise there too and returned to Iran in ’74 where after a serious of promotions she was advanced to managing directorship of the Iranian Customs administration. Since the revolution when she left Iran and came back to the U.S., she has been an activist.
Banafsheh comes from a proud Iranian family. She has no love for the regime in control of Iran. Banafsheh has lived through the nightmare of the mullacracy.

So today when the moonbats confronted Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi outside of Columbia University about how Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Regime were so much better than George Bush- It was on!

They decided to confront Banafsheh (in gray shirt) on the evils of the "Bush Regime".

A small group of obnoxious Leftists were planted on the street across from Columbia with their banner, "Ahmadinejad is bad but Bush is worse."

It was a bad move.

It was a very bad move.

Rocco DiPippo from The Autonomist was there and is going to post video and photos from the protests at Columbia University.

Also in attendance at the protests were the pro-regime folks who decided to dress like their buddy Mahmoud.

One of them even favored Ahmadinejad...

...Leisure suit and all.

Jules Crittenden is following the Iranian news to see how they're going to explain Bollinger's speech.

Fred Thompson today spoke out for the Iranian students who cannot.

More From the Anti-Ahmadinejad Protests

Kesher Talk was there.

AHMADINEJAD at Columbia University

A SHAMEFUL DAY FOR AMERICAN EDUCATORS...
Mahmoud's live on WCBSTV

The President of the University Lee Bollinger is currently talking about free speech- too bad that doesn't mean free speech for all.
What a disgusting display!

WCBSTV also has a video of the outraged protesters outside of the campus HERE

Well, the kids rushed the stage when the Minutemen were there...
What sort of response will they give Mahmoud?

(AP Photo/Jason DeCrow)

Again-- Like he did on 60 Minutes Mahmoud is going down his list of democratic talking points.
It looks like he is shooting for a standing ovation from the dhimmis.

Pajamas Media has a Mahmoud-Roundup.
HotAir is recording the speech.

Mahmoud is bashing Israel for "terrorizing" the Palestinians for 60 Years!

SO FAR... Not a peep from the audience. Not one peep!
The audience is his to lose. He has them in the palm of his hand.
They are cheering him on now!
Good Lord!
* * * * *

They are cheering the genocide promoter again.
This country is in worse shape than we realized.
Now, Ahmadinejad is lying about the treatment of non-Muslims in Iran.
(More applause)
I guess no one at Columbia saw this news today.

Mahmoud is explaining that the Iranian nation is a victim of terrorism.
Mahmoud says his government was the first to fight terrorism.
How sad... He is shifting the blame for terrorism on the US and the audience is eating this crap with serving spoons.
How very sad.
The schools in this country are failing miserably.

Mahmoud is pushing for more research on the Holocaust and the audience is not saying a word- not a peep.

FOX News has a pretty good report on the talk so far.
President Bollinger said:

"Ahmadinejad's denial of the Holocaust might fool the illiterate and ignorant... When you come to a place like this it makes you simply ridiculous... The truth is that the Holocaust is the most documented event in human history."
But, from the applause Mahmoud's getting from the university audience, Bollinger is the one who looks ridiculous.

Mahmoud Ahadinejad is winding up his speech.
He was a huge hit at the university!
Obviously, the students did not rush the stage during this talk.

Meanwhile...
The leading democratic blog compares Ahmadinejad with another world leader:
Ahmadinejad and Bush: Parallels and Second Comings

After all, they are both enemies to the American Left.
Well, Bush is anyway.

More--- BG commented below that Mahmoud claimed during his talk today that there was no problem with homosexuals in Iran. That they just don't have them.

Really?
Maybe it's because they EXECUTE THEM!

JUBA IS DEAD!

Al Qaeda sniper Juba is dead.

And, Michael Totten reports that it's all but over for Al Qaeda in Iraq.

In related news... Hillary says she wants to join the defeatists in her party and cut funding.

The Protesters Are Starting to Gather at the UN and Columbia University!

For some reason Columbia University believes it is appropriate to host a man who openly promotes the slaughter of Jews in Israel.
But, the university will not allow the founder of the Minuteman Project to speak on campus!

A Jewish boy walks past posters posted on the wall of New York's Columbia University against Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's scheduled speech at the university the following day. Ahmadinejad landed in New York City Sunday night.
There was a dinner planned later in the evening on Sunday.
Reportedly, 1500 Iranian Regime supporters were invited to the private gathering.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad released this statement upon arriving in New York City:

"No one has the right to use force in international relations, occupy others' lands or resort to terrorism. These are the clear stands of the people of Iran and this course will continue," stressed the president.
Except, of course when the regime does resort to terrorism as reported today at Iran Focus.

Iranian human rights activist Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi sends the latest on the developing Mahmoudapalooza in New York City:

On Sunday evening Ahmadinejad had a diner party for 1500 Iranians of the regime’s supporters in the U.S.

It is said that he may be staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Manhattan, though it’s not sure. Also this evening 60 minutes showed an interview with him that was done with him last week.

Now today from this afternoon on, through the evening and late into tonight protestors have gathered already outside of Columbia University. All of them are against him but a small few say that they think that it’s okay that Columbia gave him a forum because the students will challenge him and they won’t let him get away with his usual evasions. Others are just angry at the whole thing and are there to punish Columbia as well show their hatred for Ahmadinejad.

Tomorrow people will be gather at around noon to continue the protest. Ahmadinejad’s event is said to begin at 1:30 and it will go to 3:00 PM though now I’m hearing that he has only accepted to stay for 45 minutes at Columbia. The questions that people, both students and other attendees (such as the press) will be asking him had to have been submitted and approved beforehand.
HERE is a schedule of Monday protests.

The LA Times is calling Mahmoud a hero among Arabs- That's very questionable. It would be more accurate to say he is a hero among American Leftists.

Related... The Iranian Regime is blaming the Zionists for the assassination last week of the anti-Syrian Christian Lebanese politician Antoine Ghanem.
That's a stretch.

UPDATE 2: Ahmadinejad met with members of the disgusting anti-Zionist Jewish Group in New York this morning.

UPDATE 3: Lie #1 for the day: Mahmoud says Iran will not attack Israel-
Fact: Iranian proxy state Hezbollah has already attacked Israel.

UPDATE 4: Democratic Candidate Mike Gravel says, "Let Ahmadinejad Go to Ground Zero."
Mahmoud is making lots of fans among democrats!

UPDATE 5: From Banafsheh- New York Sun reports that the state of New York is considering taking state funding away from Columbia.

UPDATE 6: Mahmoud is talking with the National Press Club- It's no wonder this group's approval ratings suck air.
How many Americans does this regime have to kill before the American Left quits playing nicey-nice?

Mahmoud asked the Press Club, "Why there is not more research done on the Holocaust?"

UPDATE 7: The silly Leftist Ahmadinejad sympathizers are gathering on campus.
Columbia University will not allow outside Jewish Groups or other protest groups on campus today.

Today's Media Tripe-- Rudy Is Soft on Terror

Yesterday, it was the news that democratic-General Petraeus-bashing MoveOn.org gets super discounts from The New York Times...

Today we are supposed believe, according to The Washington Post, that Rudy Giuliani is soft on terror.
This is, of course, America's mayor who told the Saudi Sheik to stick it after 9-11.

But, the shamefully biased media is pushing that Rudy is soft on terror... while ignoring the pitiful bunch of democrats (Example: Hillary Clinton) rushing to cut and run from the fight against Al Qaeda in Iraq.

Buddhists monks march down the street in Yangon, 23 September 2007. Tens of thousands of people flooded onto the streets of Myanmar's main city to join protesting monks in the strongest show of dissent against the ruling generals in nearly two decades.(AFP)

A massive protest was held today in Rangoon against the ruling junta. Tens of thousands joined in with thousands of monks who have been leading the growing protests against the brutal military rulers in control of the nation.
The BBC reported:

Tens of thousands of people have marched through Burma's main city of Rangoon in the biggest of a mounting wave of anti-government protests.
Eyewitnesses said the number of monks and civilians demonstrating was more than 30,000, with some activists saying 100,000 were involved.

Some monks carried placards calling for better living conditions and national reconciliation, witnesses said.

The military government has so far showed restraint against the protests.

Monks are highly revered in Burma and any action against them would spark an outcry.

But there are fears of a repeat of 1988, when the last democracy uprising was crushed by the military and some 3,000 people were killed, correspondents say.

Five columns of monks, one reportedly stretching for more than 1km (0.6 miles), entered the city centre to cheers and applause from thousands of bystanders.

"People locked arms around the monks. They were clapping and cheering," one witness told Reuters news agency.

Many of the civilians who joined in pinned small pieces of the monks' robes onto their clothing; some were in tears.

New York Times Will Run Anti-Ahmadinejad Ad Monday

"Ahmadinejad Is a Terrorist"

This FULL RATE ad will appear in The New York Times on Monday.

Sadly, this Pro-American Freedom's Watch ad did not get the same discount as the liberal democratic group MoveOn.org did when they called General Petraeus a traitor.
It appears to work that way at The New York Times.

Freedom's Watch will release this ad tomorrow in the New York Times:

September 21, 2007 - Washington, D.C. - Friday Freedom's Watch
President Bradley A. Blakeman released a statement and a copy of the
print advertisement it has requested to be run in the Monday edition
of the New York Times.

"Freedom's Watch could not sit back and allow a terrorist to come to
America masquerading as a world leader. We have an obligation to warn
the world of the dangers of a nuclear Iran and to uncover the true
intent, that being, the destruction of the United States and the State
of Israel. Let's be clear, Iran today kills American soldiers in Iraq
and they will not stop there," said Bradley A. Blakeman, President of
Freedom's Watch.

Barry Rubin Releases- The Truth About Syria

In one week...
Another anti-Syrian Lebanese Christian politician is assassinated in Beirut. A massive bomb killed Antoine Ghanem outside of his home in a Christian neighborhood on the outskirts of Beirut. He was the seventh anti-Syrian politician assassinated in the last two and a half years in Lebanon.

This week there was news that dozens of Syrians and Iranians were killed in chemical explosion near Halab, Syria. The Jerusalem Post claimed that, "The joint Syrian-Iranian team was attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a Scud missile when the explosion occurred, spreading lethal chemical agents, including sarin nerve gas."

In another report this week, the Times of London claimed that Israeli commandos secretly seized samples of nuclear material and took them back to Israel for examination before Israel later blew up the nuke site in Syria.

These were the headlines.
And, it just happened that the news this week did not include stories about Arab suicide bombers making their way into Iraq through Syria or car bombs from Syria blowing up in Baghdad.

All of these stories have one thing in common.
They were coordinated by the evil regime in control of Syria.

Author Barry Rubin, director of the Global Research for International Affairs (GLORIA) Center, recently published The Truth About Syria on one of the most dangerous and influential countries in the Middle East. Rubin describes Syria as a 72,000 mile time bomb waiting to go off.

Barry Rubin describes the the history behind this "powderkeg" of the Middle East. He also talks about the rise of the unassuming ophthalmologist, Bashar Assad. Rubin also discusses the role of Syria in current Middle Eastern terrorism and violence.

As any ordinary observer can see, the Middle East is a very unstable and has been for some time. No country encapsulates the dysfunction of the Middle East more than Syria. Barry Rubin does a great job of pointing this out and then in discussing the many facets of Syria that make it a central player in Middle East turmoil. Rubin has an in depth knowledge of Syria and the role it plays in the Middle East. In his book The Truth About Syria, it becomes clear that this little country has done more to create confusion, poverty and murder in the Middle East than any country its size. After reading the book, how can not marvel at the ignorance of the current Speaker of the House for visiting this regime earlier in the year? This Middle Eastern country is truly one of the greatest threats to Israel and the United States today.
You can purchase The Truth About Syria at Amazon.com.

Close Your Eyes... Is that Mahmoud Or a Democratic Politician?

Close your eyes and it's not clear if that's Nancy Pelosi or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad hit all the democratic talking points tonight in his interview on "60 Minutes" with correspondent Scott Pelley .

If "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley wasn't so soft on the Iranian dictator he might have asked him about horrible Evin Prison, the crackdown on women, or the hanging of homosexuals after Mahmoud spouted off all of the democratic talking points.
Sadly, the "60 Minutes" host Pelley couldn't argue with him.

Instead, "60 Minutes" turned a lot of their liberal viewers onto this Holocaust denier and liar.
Figures.

UPDATE: Daily Kos thinks that "60 Minutes" was too hard on Mahmoud(?)

UPDATE 2: GOP Vixen has a must read on Ahmadinejad.

Columbia Bans Jewish Groups From Campus During Ahmadinejad's Talk!

Columbia University will not allow non-campus Jews from gathering at the university while the Holocaust denier Ahmadinejad is speaking on Monday!

Holocaust denying dictators-- YES.

(Poster via Doug Ross)
Protesting Jews-- No.
This is the first time that a college campus has closed itself off from the Coalition for Jewish Concerns (AMCHA) during an event.

Obviously, "Free Speech" is not for everyone!
IMRA reported:

OUTSIDE DEMONSTRATORS DENIED ACCESS TO COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY;
AMCHA THREATENS LEGAL ACTION

AMCHA - the Coalition for Jewish Concerns is planning a major counter - vigil of conscience at 115th and Broadway as Ahmadinejad speaks at Columbia University on Sept. 24th at 12:30pm.

AMCHA has also sent the attached letter to Columbia University president Lee Bollinger, protesting Columbia's decision to close the campus to outside demonstrators.

As the AMCHA letter indicates, "This limitation on non-University affiliated persons is particularly inappropriate here where the speaker and his considerable entourage is not affiliated with Columbia University."

Rabbi Avi Weiss, National President of AMCHA, indicated that "We've raised a voice against Palestinian disinvestment conferences at Ohio State, Duke, and Michigan amongst others. This is the first time a university campus has been closed off to us."

Should the university not grant AMCHA the right to protest on campus, AMCHA, as the letter indicates, "will consider pursuing legal remedies."
Columbia officials also ban students from enrolling in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at the campus.

UPDATE: Charles Johnson has a list of the anti-Ahmadinejad protests being held tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: Only days ago, Columbia University announced that it would deny the founder of the Minutemen Project Jim Gilchrist from speaking on campus in October.

Ahmadinejad Leaves For New York- Will Meet With Politicians

Ahmadinejad says that he will meet with "independent US politicians" while he is in New York- Mehr News.

(ISNA)
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left for New York City today. He said he will present the regime's solutions to the world.
Iranian Fars News reported:

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran on Sunday for his third trip to the United States, saying the visit was a good chance to present Iran's solutions for the problems of the world.

Ahmadinejad, who is due to address the UN General Assembly in New York and hold other meetings, said he would be meeting "intellectuals and independent US politicians" on his trip to Tehran's arch foe.

"The General Assembly of the United Nations is a good opportunity to present the solutions of the Iranian people to solve the problems of the world," the president told reporters before leaving.

"The United States has had influence in international relations since World War II but the American people have suffered in diverse ways and have been deprived of access to accurate information," he added.

"We need to take advantage of such opportunities to present the positions of the Iranian people as they (the Americans) are very keen to hear them."

Since taking office, Ahmadinejad has addressed the UN General Assembly in both 2005 and 2006.

During his two-day sojourn in New York, the Iranian president, who will be accompanied by a group of high-ranking officials, is also scheduled to attend bilateral talks with several of his counterparts and meet Iranians residing in the US.

Ahmadinejad is also set to use a speech at a leading US university to challenge George W Bush at a time of high tensions with Washington over his country's pursuit of nuclear technology.
Ahmadinejad says he will meet with independent scholars in New York:

He added that talking with independent and popular US scholars will be among other programs of the visit.

Ahmadinejad further announced that delivering a speech at Columbia University and holding discussions with a number of American Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders will be among his other programs.
It was announced yesterday that Mahmoud would meet with Bush critics while he was in New York including survivors and bereaved families of the 9-11 attacks.

Glenn Reynolds has an idea on how to sabotage Mahmoud's visit.

Old Gray Lady Decides She Needs New Underwear After All

With its stock prices falling to record lows, The New York Times decided to finally come clean on its super-discounts to liberal democratic groups.

The New York Times ad revenue declined a stunning 3.2% in August.
Their shares set new 52 week lows two days in a row in September.

With this in mind...
The Old Gray Lady today admitted finally that it gave the liberal democratic group MoveOn.org a discount ($64,575) on its disgusting "Petraeus-Traitor" ad.

The NY Times also admitted that it did not give the same price to conservative Freedom's Watch but charged them full price ($142,083)- more than twice the amount that they charged the liberal democratic group!

The New York Times reported today:

President George W. Bush called the ad “disgusting.” The Senate, controlled by Democrats, voted overwhelmingly to condemn the ad.

Vice President Dick Cheney said the charges in the ad, “provided at subsidized rates in The New York Times” were “an outrage.” Thomas Davis III, a Republican congressman from Virginia, demanded a House investigation. The American Conservative Union filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission against MoveOn.org and The New York Times Company. FreedomsWatch.org, a group recently formed to support the war, asked me to investigate because it said it wasn’t offered the same terms for a response ad that MoveOn.org got.

Did MoveOn.org get favored treatment from The Times? And was the ad outside the bounds of acceptable political discourse?

The answer to the first question is that MoveOn.org paid what is known in the newspaper industry as a standby rate of $64,575 that it should not have received under Times policies. The group should have paid $142,083. The Times had maintained for a week that the standby rate was appropriate, but a company spokeswoman told me late Thursday afternoon that an advertising sales representative made a mistake.

The answer to the second question is that the ad appears to fly in the face of an internal advertising acceptability manual that says, “We do not accept opinion advertisements that are attacks of a personal nature.” Steph Jespersen, the executive who approved the ad, said that, while it was “rough,” he regarded it as a comment on a public official’s management of his office and therefore acceptable speech for The Times to print.
The Old Gray Lady has some explaining to do.

The fact that The New York Times would just happen to make this "mistake" on the very day that the general in charge of Operation Iraqi Freedom is to testify in Congress about the significant gains in Iraq makes this admission even more troubling.

This is a very serious violation of trust by The New York Times.
Kudos to Bob Owens for catching this awful misdeed.

UPDATE: Roger Simon wonders how deep the intstitutional bias goes in the paper's structure.

UPDATE 2: MTC corrects MoveOn in their attacks on Rudy.

20,000 Protest Military Junta in Burma!

Meanwhile, over in the junta...
The largest protest in nearly 20 years was held today against the junta in contol of Burma!
Over 20,000 marched in the rain today against the military rule.
The BBC has video (HERE) from the extraordinary protests.

20,000 protested against the brutal military junta today in Rangoon, Burma.
The AP reported:

YANGON, Myanmar - Riot police and barbed wire barricades blocked hundreds of monks and anti-government demonstrators from approaching the home of the detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Sunday, in a new show of force against a rising protest movement.

Led by Buddhist monks and joined by nuns, some 20,000 people protested against the junta on Sunday and shouted their support for Suu Kyi, who made her first public appearance in four years on Saturday when a crowd of monks and sympathizers was permitted to pass her house.

On Sunday, a small crowd of about 400 — about half of them monks — split off from the main demonstration and tried to approach Suu Kyi's home again but abandoned the attempt after their path was blocked by riot police and barbed wire barricades.

The monks carried carried a large yellow banner that read: "Love and kindness must win over everything."

The demonstration was the largest since 1988, the year Suu Kyi, the daughter of independence hero Gen. Aung San, took up leadership of a pro-democracy movement. Then, the military fired on peaceful crowds, killing thousands and terrorizing the country.
The people of Rangoon held hands to form a barrier between them and the junta police.

Is Venezuela Mining Uranium For Iran?

It's no secret that Hugo Chavez and his "brother" Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are very close.

It's also no secret that the two share a hatred for America and are working together on several projects.

The two regimes opened a facility earlier this year producing tractors. Flags of Iran and Venezuela greet you as you enter the VENIRAN tractor plant in Venezuelan provincial capital of Ciudad Bolivar.

Ciudad Bolívar is the capital of Venezuela's southeastern Bolivar State (the province with the big green circle and blue stripes below).

Amazones State is in southern most Venezuela Province (in white). It next door to the Bolivar State.

VCrisis wrote about the Venezuela-Iran uranium rumors last year:

Originally posted 8 September 2006 | Camilo Ospina, on the day he was sworn in as Colombia’s new ambassador to the Organization of American States, stated in a speech titled “Geopolitics in Latin America” that Venezuela had two clandestine uranium mines and warned of the risk presented by this fact.

It is entirely possible that the trust bestowed upon him by the absence of any news media and the presence of an academic audience conspired to lead the diplomat into stating with total self confidence that “if I were asked about a risk, something that would make me very nervous, I would say that I get very nervous about the two factories, the two uranium mines that are present at this moment in Venezuela.”

He stated further that “if you were to go straight in the direction of Arauca, arrive at the border and penetrate about 400 kilometers beyond, you will find two factories, one is a bicycle factory and the other a motorcycle factory. These two factories are a façade for a uranium excavation.”

And he concluded: “Venezuela has no means of enriching uranium, but Iran does. If that came about, we would have a real problem.”

This is not the first time that there is talk of supposed uranium mines, nor of their relation to Iran. Earlier reports link Venezuelans, Cubans and Iranians to secret mining activities in the state of Amazonas, but the lack of proof kept the topic on a speculative plane and in the realm of conspiracy theories.

The transcribed statements indicate that the mines do exist and could very well be one of the reasons for the close ties between Hugo Chávez and Mahmud Ahmadinejad, the fundamentalist president of Iran. Furthermore, they would explain Venezuela and Cuba’s opposition to the decision by the International Atomic Energy Agency to submit the case of Iran to the Security Council and the announcement by Chávez himself, in May of 2005, concerning his interest in having that country furnish him with nuclear technology.

The two brothers celebrated the opening of the Veniran tractor plant earlier this year.

Bush: "Democratic-Socialist Agenda Will Get Vetoed"

The actual title of this latest liberal hit piece on Bush by AP writer Jennifer Loven is:
"Bush: Kids' health care will get vetoed"
...But with a headline like that you know its just the typical Loven smear on Bush.

How the AP can justify keeping this liberal writer Loven on the payroll is beyond comprehension. This is one of those articles by Loven where you don't have to read any further than the headline to know it is an inaccurate liberal smear on Bush.

It is truly pathetic how liberal our American media has become.

By the way- the real story behind this outrageous headline is that Bush will veto the democratic-socialist plan to expand government and increase spending by "extendiing government-covered insurance to children in families who can afford private coverage, and smacks of a move toward completely federalized health care."

Enough said.
Thank God for the alternative media.

Israel Vows to Wipe Syria Off the Map

Israel vows to put an end to the evil Assad Regime if Syria ever uses chemical weapons in an attack on Israel.

Israel issued the threat after the news this week that a chemical weapons explosion in Halab, Syria killed dozens of Iranians and Syrians. The explosion at the Syrian test site spread chemical weapons including sarin gas.

The Daily News and Global Incident Map reported:

Israeli officials vowed to wipe Syria off the map if it is attacked with chemical weapons like one that reportedly exploded in July at a secret Syrian base staffed with Iranian engineers.

Politicians in Israel said yesterday they were not picking a fight with their neighbor, but pledged to forcefully retaliate if chemical warheads come screaming across its shared border.

"We will not attack them first. But if they ever use these weapons against Israel, then we must be clear — it will be the end of this evil and brutal dictatorship," Yuval Steinitz, a right-wing member of the Israeli parliament, told the Daily News yesterday.

Sparking shock waves across the Middle East was a report in Jane's Defence Weekly about an accidental explosion at a top secret Syrian base in July.

Citing Syrian intelligence sources, the report claimed a team of Iranian and Syrian engineers were killed July 26 while trying to arm a Scud-C missile with a mustard gas warhead.

Syrian official news agency, SANA, reported that least 15 Syrian military personnel had been "martyred" and 50 others injured in the blast near the northern city of Aleppo on the Turkish border. It claimed the early morning explosion was caused by the high temperatures.

The SANA report mentioned nothing of Iranian personnel killed in the mishap.

Jane's said dozens of Iranian workers were among those who died when a fire in the missile's engine triggered the explosion and release of a toxic cloud of lethal chemical agents banned under international law.
In related news... The Times of London is reporting that Israeli commandos secretly seized samples of nuclear material and took them back to Israel for examination before Israel later blew up the Syrian nuke site... A laboratory confirmed that the unspecified material was North Korean in origin. America approved an attack.

MUSLIM GROUP BLASTS COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY!

Muslims Against Sharia blasted Columbia University for inviting the world's foremost anti-Semite to speak on campus.

A Muslim Organization blasted Columbia University for inviting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak on campus on Monday:

Muslims Against Sharia condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the decision of Columbia University to provide a speaking venue for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Apparently letting Akbar Rafsanjani speak at the National Cathedral was not the height of American Dhimmitude, because providing a venue for the world's foremost anti-Semite, whose proclaimed goal is the destruction of the USA and Israel, definitely takes the cake. What is surprising is that we don't hear any complaints from Columbia alumni who should be ashamed of their silence.
This is from the group's website:

Brothers and Sisters!
Do not make the next generation of Muslims clean up your mess!
Fight Islamic Fascism now, so your children won't have to!
Meanwhile... The Columbia Dean says that the university would invite Hitler as well!
Actually, Columbia did invite Hitler.

Burma's detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi met with the Buddhist monks who have been staging daily protests against the brutal military junta in control of the country.
The BBC reported:

Burma's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has greeted Buddhist monks protesting against the military junta.
Apparently unable to hold her tears, Aung San Suu Kyi came out of the house she has been detained in since 2003 as the monks were let through a roadblock.

At least 2,000 monks are staging a sixth day of protests through the streets of the main city of Rangoon.

Up to 10,000 marched through Mandalay with protests also taking place in five townships across Burma.

Ms Suu Kyi has spent 11 of the last 18 years in detention.

One Free Korea reports on the Unseen Courage of Burma’s Monks
Joshua Stanton explains the significance of the protests:

If you remember that the bemedalled thugs who rule Burma shot down 3,000 people in the streets of Rangoon in 1988, then you understand how much courage it must require to go back into those same streets to protest what may be East Asia’s second most brutal regime...

The media haven’t been paying nearly enough to this story. It started in mid-August, when the government announced drastic fuel prices increases — the price of gasoline rose 80% and the price of diesel doubled. The protests started on August 19th, when 500 protestors marched in the streets of Rangoon. By August 22, the protests had taken on an overtly political character, when pro-democracy activists joined the protests. The government responded by sending its thugs into the streets to beat them; dozens have been arrested, perhaps even hundreds. On Wednesday, the government upped the ante with tear gas and warning shots.
Truly.

POPE BLASTS TERRORIST KILLERS & Their Contempt for Life!

This latest speech by Pope Benedict XVI won't go over very well in the caves of Pakistan.

The Holy See addressed the religious oppression in Muslim nations in a speech to PARTICIPANTS IN THE MEETING ORGANIZED BY CENTRIST DEMOCRATIC INTERNATIONAL
Here is the Pope on religious freedom:

Another cause highly esteemed by all of you is the defence of religious liberty, which is a fundamental, irrepressible, inalienable and inviolable right rooted in the dignity of every human being and acknowledged by various international documents, especially the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The exercise of this freedom also includes the right to change religion, which should be guaranteed not only legally, but also in daily practice. In fact, religious liberty corresponds to the human person’s innate openness to God, who is the fullness of truth and the supreme good. An appreciation for religious freedom is a fundamental expression of respect for human reason and its capacity to know the truth. Openness to transcendence is an indispensable guarantee of human dignity since within every human heart there are needs and desires which find their fulfilment in God alone. For this reason, God can never be excluded from the horizon of man and world history! That is why all authentically religious traditions must be allowed to manifest their own identity publicly, free from any pressure to hide or disguise it.

Moreover, due respect for religion helps to counter the charge that society has forgotten God: an accusation shamelessly exploited by some terrorist networks in an attempt to justify their threats against global security.

Terrorism is a serious problem whose perpetrators often claim to act in God’s name and harbour an inexcusable contempt for human life.

Society naturally has a right to defend itself, but this right must be exercised with complete respect for moral and legal norms, including the choice of ends and means. In democratic systems, the use of force in a manner contrary to the principles of a constitutional State can never be justified. Indeed, how can we claim to protect democracy if we threaten its very foundations? Consequently, it is necessary both to keep careful watch over the security of civil society and its citizens while at the same time safeguarding the inalienable rights of all. Terrorism needs to be fought with determination and effectiveness, mindful that if the mystery of evil is widespread today, the solidarity of mankind in goodness is an even more pervasive mystery.
Weasel Zippers passed this on...
Pope Benedict XVI attacked Muslim nations on Thursday on their horrible record of religious freedom.
The Daily Mail reported:

The Pope has again risked provoking the wrath of the Islamic world, by criticising its treatment of Christians.

Benedict XVI attacked Muslim nations where Christians are either persecuted or given the status of second-class citizens under the Shariah Islamic law.

He also defended the rights of Muslims to convert to Christianity, an act which warrants the death penalty in many Islamic countries.

His comments came almost exactly a year after he provoked a wave of anger among Muslims by quoting a Byzantine emperor who linked Islam to violence.

Yesterday, near Rome, the 80-year-old pontiff made a speech in "defence of religious liberty", which, he said "is a fundamental, irrepressible, inalienable and inviolable right".

In a clear reference to Islam, he said: "The exercise of this freedom also includes the right to change religion, which should be guaranteed not only legally, but also in daily practice."

Addressing the problem of Islamic extremism, he added: "Terrorism is a serious problem whose perpetrators often claim to act in God's name and harbour an inexcusable contempt for human life."

Last September, radical British Muslims said Pope Benedict should be executed for "insulting" the Prophet Mohammed.

Angry Muslims Clash in Dhaka Over Offensive "Cat" Cartoon

The "cat" cartoon offended their religion.

Police broke up a protest today by hundreds of angry Muslims upset over the publication of an offensive cat cartoon.
AKI reported:

Dhaka, 21 Sept. (AKI) - Police in Bangladesh broke up a protest by hundreds of Muslims in the capital Dhaka over the publication of a cartoon that they say offended their religion.

A report on the local newspaper The Daily Star said that several hundred activists of six Islamic organisations began the protest march outside the capital's Baitul Mokarram mosque after Friday prayers.

Bangladesh's caretaker government suspended the publication, Alpin, a weekly satire magazine of leading Bengali daily Prothom Alo. The magazine's publishers also apologised and appealed for forgiveness for the drawing.

The cartoon shows a small boy referring to his cat as "Mohammad cat". The image provoked outrage and protestors said that it was a deliberate attempt to ridicule Islam's Prophet Mohammad.

The cartoonist, Arifur Rahman, was arrested on 17 September by the police.

The Daily Star reports that the editors from several leading newspapers including Prothom Alo have appealed for forgiveness.

The editors urged the country's religious leaders or ulema to consider the newspaper's apology and also called for calm and restraint.

Paris-based press freedom group, Reporters Without Borders, has called for the release of Arifur Rahman.
The demonstrators demanded the execution of the paper's editor, Matiur Rahman- BBC.

Bill Clinton Cabinet Member Linked to Hsu Scandal?

Suitably Flip reveals today's "Hsocking Hsu Secrets!"

Flip flips to find that Bill Clinton's cabinet member and current Dean of the New School's Milano School , Fred Hochberg, (pictured) has a curious connection to jailed Clinton mega-donor Norman Hsu:

Ever since Hsu became a major fundraiser, there have been notable similarities between his and Hochberg/Lillian Vernon's contributions that strain the limits of coincidence. Not only is there significant overlap among several far-flung candidates who wouldn't typically be of much interest to New York businessmen, but the size and timing of many of the transactions further suggest the efforts are coordinated...

Yes, Fred Hochberg, a dean at the school where Hsu served as a trustee, one of Hsu's fellow HillRaisers, CEO of the company that officially bundled at least one of Hsu's direct contributions as recently as this summer, and the apparent architect of Hsu's favored candidate slate, was installed as one of the country's senior-most federal policymakers by Bill Clinton.
Fred Hochberg and his life partner Tom Healy hosted a fundraising event at their home in New York with Hillary for Minnesota senatorial candidate Amy Klobuchar in 2006.

Hochberg is a huge Clinton donor and has been for several years.
He continues to be a big democratic donor.
Now, he is curiously linked to Hsu.
This Hsu story is starting to get interesting.
There is much more including the Clinton scandal Hochberg was named in at Suitably Flip.

The Anchoress has more on the "incurious press" ignoring this million dollar scandal.

Lebanon Lays to Rest Another Anti-Syrian Politician

A car bomb killed Anti-Syrian Christian leader Antoine Ghanem on Wednesday.

It wasn't the first assassination in Lebanon since the country declared freedom from Syria in 2005.
There were several other brave Lebanese anti-Syrian politicians who were murdered before Antoine Ghanem:

Rafik Hariri -February 14, 2005
Samir Kassir -June 2, 2005
George Hawi -June 21, 2005
May Chidiac (attempted assassination) -September 25, 2005

Pierre Amin Gemayel -November 21, 2006
Walid Eido -June 13, 2007
Antoine Ghanem- September 19, 2007

Antoine Ghanem was just the latest anti-Syrian victim.

John McCain to Code Pink: "We Won't Choose to Lose!"

John McCain spoke to the NRA today in Washington DC.
During the speech he was interrupted by wild Leftists from Code Pink.
Video of his response to this horrible Anti-American group is HERE:

Via Instapundit

Here is part of John McCain's terrific speech earlier today:

Let's be clear. If Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or John Edwards are elected President, they will go after the rights of law abiding gun owners -- just as Bill Clinton did when he was president. Moveon.org, which seems to be calling the shots in the Democratic Party these days, will have more influence on gun control in the Oval Office, not John Dingell. These Democratic candidates voted to ban guns or ban ammunition or to allow gun makers to be sued out of existen ce as Senators. Think how much worse it would be if they had the power to appoint Supreme Court Justices, name Attorneys General and use the full power of the federal government.

In the coming month we will face a fork in the road. We can pursue our opportunity for victory in Iraq, strengthen our hand in the larger war against Isl amic extremists, and make our nation more secure. Or we can fold our tents, embolden our enemies, throw a region into instability, and increase the risks faced on our home soil. Which way requires greater leadership?

Our defeat in Iraq would be catastrophic, not just for Iraq, but for us, and I cannot be complicit in it. I will do whatever I can to help avert it. That is all I can offer my country.
Right on!

Kamangir noticed something odd about the photos of the new "Iranian Thunderbolt at Zionists" planes in the Iranian News:

The emblem.

On the left: The emblem on the side of the plane "built by the Islamic Republic”, On the Right: The Lion and Sword emblem of Pahlavi Dynasty.

The following is a translation by Iraqi-American Haider Ajina translation of an article in Iraq’s paper Sot Aliraq from September, 19 2007:

"Anbar awakening committee vows to eradicate Alqaida before the end of the year"

Sheik Ahmed Abu Reeshah, who became tribal chief and head of the Anbar awakening committee after the assassination of his brother Abdul Satar, promised that Alqaida will be eradicated before the end of the year. He reaffirmed that the committee will avenge the killing of his brother and take revenge on Alqida. This he said in an interview with Alarabiah Chanell on Tuesday the 18th.

Sheik Ahmed added ‘All of Anbar has to avenge the killing of the Sheik, within a year no one will hear of Alqaida any more.
