Sadly, the Code Pink activists did not realize there were 300 angry Cuban-Americans waiting on them in Little Havana.

Code Pink socialists were forced to flee from their planned protest after 200 anti-Castro counter protesters gangrushed their truck in Little Havana!
The Sun-Sentinel reported:
Female peace activists in pink dresses and tiaras demanded the arrest of anti-communist militant Luis Posada Carriles Saturday, but aborted plans for a demonstration in Little Havana after his supporters rushed their vehicle.The Code Pink ladies have another protest scheduled for Sunday.
The activists, from the Codepink anti-war group, had planned to speak to reporters outside the landmark Versailles restaurant to publicize their campaign against Posada Carriles — a former CIA operative wanted in Venezuela in connection with the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner.
However the five women, who were accompanied by at least one man, were met by some 200 irate Cuban-Americans who consider Posada Carriles a champion of freedom. Several charged at the activists' truck as they arrived, tearing at its pink fringe, while others jeered and shouted insults. The truck then drove on.

This is the same Medea Benjamin who once lived in that "socialist workers paradise" of Cuba was deported by ol'Fidel after she wrote an anti-government article in the government-run newspaper for which she worked.
Too bad Fidel didn't just do what he does to others who fail to uphold the party line which is sending her to a mental institution for electroshock therapy.

I don't like code pink and I am no fan of Castro but Luis Posada Carriles gets no respect from me.
He killed innocent Cubans in order to wage a terrorist campaign against Cuba.
That to me is a terrorist and we are being hypocritical if we do not recognize that.
And let me go one step further, he needs to be sent back to Cuba to stand trial.
Please, do not cheer for this guy and his band of terrorists. It is a disgrace that he is walking around free in the United States.
Not that I don't like seeing Code Pinko getting their comeuppance, but I'm with you, TaSS. There's a fine line between freedom fighter and terrorist, and it seems this guy crossed it at some point.
Code Pink and their sister organization International ANSWER have been created to harass refugees and ethnic minorities who have come to the US to get away from dictatorial regimes. They are psychologically warped, vicious, CRUEL individuals who are friends of the dictators and the tyrants from Iran to Cuba to Venezuela and some of the most EVIL killers on the planet and actively attack innocent people who come to the U.S. for sanctuary. They even mess with the people inside those countries who are fighting for freedom by taking their photos and photoshopping their own spoiled brat messages....just like they did with the photo of the Iranian women who were demonstrating INSIDE Iran against the Mullahs. I salute the Cubans...Code Pink deserves this and much much more.

Thank you but I have never had a problem not speaking my mind for fear of being politically correct or even upsetting the "wrong" plgroup.
The man was responsible for planning the bombing of a civilian plane killing 73 innocent people.
Not the only attacks he is responsible for but the conversation stops dead right there.
Do I like code pink? No.
Will I come down on the side of terrorists in order to oppose them? Hell no.

Posada Carriles may have bombed that plane. In other words he allegedly bombed that plane (this is still America, right innocent until proven guilty and all that).
He faced a civilian and military tribunal in Venezuela for those charges and was acquitted. Since Venezuela doesn't have rules against double jeopardy he remained in prison while his case was appealed. That is until he escaped.
Today, a return to Venezuela is not feasible because there are no guarantees of a fair trial due to the consolidation of the branches of government under Hugo Chavez' rule.
Medea Benjamin (evidently) posted at babalu. She said "I once was married to a big buck Cuban sports official . . ." Isn't that a racist statement? Shouldn't Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton be all over her for that?
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter?
Just 73 more people he freed.

Why is terrorism allowed and even encouraged against right wing or colonial tyrannies--see Algeria, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, et al.--and condemned against right wing practitioners? (Also, as a corollary, did any left winger ever waver in their support of N Vietnam because of their pervasive use of torture?) That said, if the guy blew up an airliner, something bad should happen to him. He is not a hero.

lets try this again. Posada Carriles was tried in Venezuela for those crimes and found NOT GUILTY. Repeat, he was tried and found NOT GUILTY. The man, in a duly authorized court of law was found NOT GUILTY of planting the bomb that killed 73 people on a jet liner. Therefore, he was NOT RESPONSIBLE for their deaths. I hate repeating myself and typing in capitals but when I see someone so thick I must.
What part of NOT GUILTY can't you understand? I ass ume that English is a language you do comprehend.
Chavez has already said about him, "he doesn't need a trial; we already know he's guilty." Funny, a jury of Chavez' fellow Venezuelans who saw all the evidence disagreed.
This is a typical case of leftist fascism. Just like they didn't get the result they liked in FL 2000 and kept wanting do overs, here we have it in Venezuela.
Forget it, TaSS sits in the US and has NEVER had to deal with or fight psychopaths like the dictators of those goverments...he/she still believes that you fight those killers with flowers in their gun barrels and that when Iranian students or others from Cuba, Venezuela, etc. say: "I would rather die than live another day under a dictatorship" that that's some romantic statement. You're right. I am a US citizen who is not happy about an accused terrorist, who escaped prison, and is wanted in conjunction with other acts of terror, illegally entering my country and being granted, not only the right to stay but to walk around free.
I've said it before, means does matter. You want to struggle against the regime in Cuba, I'm right with you. You want to defend someone who ran a campaign of terror and killed innocent people, you are on your own.
Code Pink is a left leaning organization that has an anti US agenda, and is harrassing someone who has never been found guilty of anything. They can have their freedom of speech somewhere else, but not in Little Havana.
