Egyptian guards attempted to seal the Gaza border after over 300,000 Palestinians had crossed over into Egypt.
Sadly, when they closed the crossing- they were stoned.

Palestinians stoned Egyptian guards who were trying to control one of the Gaza crossings today.
AKI reported:
For the past two days, more than 300,000 Palestinians have surged across the border into Egypt (photo) to obtain food, medicine and other essential supplies after militants exploded holes in the border fence.Egypt or Israel?
On Friday morning Egyptian authorities moved to increase the number of security personnel in a bid to restore control.
According to the Arab TV network, Al-Jazeera, Palestinians were using bulldozers to open new holes while Egypt while others resisted Cairo's order to close the border.
Palestinians threw stones at Egyptian guards after they raised batons and shields and formed a human wall close to one of three crossings.
Witnesses said guards fired several shots in the air and used water cannon to disperse residents.
The move by the Egyptian authorities reportedly came just hours after US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, urged them to secure the border.
"It is an international border, it needs to be protected and I believe that the Egyptians understand the importance of doing that," Rice said on Thursday.
Israel wants to cut its connections with the Gaza Strip after militants broke open the territory's border at several points with Egypt.

This turn of events is b/c the US is withholding aid to Egypt to force them to close the border, even though Egypt is a sovereign nation acting to help a starving population.
Yet more evidence that the United States is officially Israel's bitch. We are lower than scum. To tell another country that they cannot help a starving, dying civilian population makes us worse than scum. God have mercy on this country! What happened to us?

I love, absolutely love, how the responses to my comment lack any substance and resort to only insults.
If Egypt wants to help people obtain food and medical supplies, which Israel is preventing them from getting (collective punishment is, by the way, illegal), and the US stands in the way of them getting their much needed supplies, that makes the US worse than scum.
My in-laws were in that throng of people getting food. Do they not deserve to eat? They don't support Hamas at all. Yet they are being punished by Israel. For what???
Would it be permissible for the US to deny food and medicine to the people of Iraq b/c some Iraqis are in a militant insurgency that kills American troops? I don't think any decent American would support such a move by our government. Yet we support Israel doing the same thing to the Palestinians and we support our own government punishing those who help.

The only culture of death in this situation is Israel, who murder innocent children yet act as if they hold the moral upperhand. What bull! To be objective, and you can disagree with me if you want, the Israelis have done questionable things to the Palestinians in the past such as humiliation at checkpoints; however, this does not deserve the attention or protests that it is getting. We have thousands dead and millions displaced in Darfur, millions dead in Congo, Syrian aggression against Lebanon, massacres in Iraq, etc. Why does this get the attention that it does? Anti-semitism?
Why the hell didn't I know about 3 million dead in the Congo up until I saw a small headline on CNN.com? Why was the news of 3 million dead so far just a small headline while the main news was Palestinians buying cigarettes and DVDs in Egypt? Fox News is guilty of this too.

Where did you hear this anyhow or is this just your propaganda? I certainly do not consider cigarettes necessary to stave off starvation, and it seems a lot of Palestinians are buying them. Gee, is it any real shock the Egyptians would want to close their border when 300,000 Palestinians are entering Egypt. I think the Palestinians sound more like an angry mob than anything, throwing stones at the Egyptian border guards.

The Hamas terrorists deserve condemnation, however; let us not start to despise the Palestinian civilians. They are poor, uneducated, and ignorant. They are suffering because of Hamas. Why are the West Bank Palestinians still with power. Just like the Iraqi people, they deserve to be liberated from their terrorist leaders. It should be our duty to save them from their leaders and not dehumanize them. Israel should stop playing into the hands of Hamas by cutting off supplies to Gaza. This is what Hamas wants. THis is what Hezbollah wants. Most dangerously, this is what Iran wants.
If you want to hurt Hamas hit the source, Syria. Destroying Gaza only hurts the tail of the snake. Syria is Iran's base in the Arab World. Iran cannot supply Hamas and Hezbollah without Syria's help.

Maybe that Egyptian/Palestinian border would work better if Hamas started lobbing home-made rockets into Egypt. I mean, it's worked so well on the Israeli border.
OTOH, there's not as many innocent people to kill on the Egyptian side (at least within reach of the current rockets), so maybe it's just not as much fun. Or maybe that might encourage the Egyptians to come in and clean the place out.
I'll pay attention to morons like fp just as soon as said moron is willing to admit, in public, that violations aren't exclusively Israeli and that the Palestinians have done wrong, too.

Give me one link that states we are withholding aid or even threatening to withhold aid.
We are not.
On the other hand, it is apparent that Rice is pushing to have the border closed and pretty much, I think that is Egypt's business.
Obviously both Hamas and Fatah have had no problem getting weapons or fighters into Gaza. They have what they need. Why is it in our best interest to keep the Palestinian people miserable?
That's just sick.
Let them buy heating supplies and food and other necessities they can get cheaper in Egypt.
There is just too much hate going around....not a drop of love and forgiveness to be found.
It is always the civilians that have to suffer. I doubt it very much if the terrorist organizations are suffering in the least, and that is because they do not care for the civilians - the civilians are just a means to an end.

This sucks! Gaza is better!" and then went back the next day. He also told me that the price of the AK 47 in Gaza has now dropped to a measly 400 JD's. There is apparently too much supply to the demand. Yay for Open Borders!]
