Well, he definitely made it obvious that he knows nothing about the military.
Mandatory health care? Money taken from me for others? Ok. I'll just make my husband quit his job and we can live off the system. At least that way, no one can take my money. I'll just receive it all from everyone else. I understand people wanting a universal health plan, but shouldn't that be just one of the health care options available?

Gateway, I was STUNNED by this statement. I'm trying to contact the Operation Enduring Freedom commander to get clarification on this. My hubby is active duty and just coming back from Iraq this weekend and I can GUARANTEE Barack is full of IT on this one. The U.S. Army is not under-supplied nor would a U.S. solder EVER use a substandard Taliban weapon. What an assinine thing to say. I cannot believe Barack actually let those words out of his mouth.

I have serious concerns about the direction and message of U.S. foreign policy with Barack Obama as Commander in Chief. I'm no fan of HRC, but she is more qualified then him, evident by her willingness to support deposing the Hussein regime and appropriately labelling the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.

Notice how Hillary cannot answer a simple yes or no question about the success of the surge? They are so invested in defeat that they have to lie about the conditions on the ground. She's either lying or ignorant (I believe she's lying..she's actually quite intelligent.. she has no scruples but she's intelligent). When she continues to insist that the surge hasn't produced any progress for the Iraqi government, she's OUT TO LUNCH. The Iraqi Parliament has been more effective than the US Congress and Senate in the last 12 months with far more obstacles to overcome. The surge has produced the desired results and now it's a matter of finishing the job.
Haven't made it to the 'Stan yet, so I am not an expert. The problem I see with this though, as a wise man once said, "(the AK-47) makes a distinctive sound when fired", such that YOU WANT TO SHOOT IN THE DIRECTION OF THAT SOUND. So I would be careful about trying that trick.
IT is too bad the GOP has an equally vapid, tired, bitter, dishonest Beltway Insider with no serious CEO experience or worthy accomplishment running for the Presidency as well...

Okay, Gateway, hubby e-mailed me pretty upset over the Obama transcript. He said this:
1. CPT’s command companies, not platoons.
2. Platoons are not divided up to go to 2 different theaters, EVER.
3. There is no ammo shortage in OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan). Many platoons are deployed to remote sites in the mountains and require aerial resupply. Those resupply missions are dependent on favorable weather conditions.
4. Taliban weapons are usually not very good and we would not use them without a very high level of command approval.
5. The CDR in Chief is so high above the platoon level that comment doesn’t even deserve a response.
He’s just trying to exploit democratic boilerplate about OIF being a diversion from “the good war” (OEF). He’s wrong on many levels. We are winning in OIF. I just left Baghdad. We have everything we need except for our OWN government to be united behind victory in OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom).
Amy, I just want to thank your husband for his service to our country and you for supporting him.

Anon, it didn't take Amy to tell me the a Captain commands a company, not a platoon, as well as units not being split up. The amount of ignorance that Barak showed in those few seconds about the military- the military he seeks to command- is astounding.

Most soldiers and their families that we know, including ourselves, will NOT be voting Obama or Clinton. In fact, we see it as a potential disaster.
The captain who Obama referenced may have actually said what he said... although a commander in chief shouldn't be getting his information about supplies and logistics from an O-3... but I'd lump it in the category of Patrick Murphy, the Iraq veteran who served with my husband in the 82nd ABN in 2003-04 and is now a Congressman from PA. He has also misrepresented the war and equipment on the floor of the Congress saying Bush didn't send troops into battle with the proper equipment because his Humvee didn't have doors. It was either an willful or ignorant mischaracterization because Humvees in the 82nd weren't supposed to have doors. They were designed for easy exit/entry in combat.
But it's easy to spin that as "we have no doors on our Humvees and Bush sent us to Iraq!" I have a hard time believing Obama would make that up out of thin air so I suspect the captain he's reference bears a burden in this fairtale.
Wait a second Norbit. First of all, I don't believe that for one second. Secondly, if it is true....maybe you and your peers in Congress should quit holding up military funding bills in attempts to strong arm the president into pulling troops outta the war. Equipment requires funding. Funding comes from you people, not the president.
Obama also said this last night:

Really? did he just made it up! how can one find out?

OK, let's look at all the different degrees of stupid this is.
First, Obama is claiming that our unarmed troops are grabbing the weapons out of armed Taliban? How exactly does that work? Are our guys throwing rocks at them, knocking the Taliban unconscious, and then stealing their weapons? Maybe we're doing it with slingshots, huh?
Second, stealing AK-47s from Taliban will not solve an ammo supply problem, since AK-47s use different ammo. M-16s fire a 5.56x45mm NATO round while AK-47s fire a 7.62x39mm round. It's worth pointing out that the Taliban are poorly supplied. They have no logistics division supporting them. They are supplied helter skelter, informally and ad hoc. So our guys would be trading a weapon they could get ammo for from our side for a weapon that they would rely on the Taliban to supply the ammo.
Third, the Taliban AK-47s are crap handmade one at a time in gun bazaars like Peshawar. They are knock-offs of the famously loose Soviet AK-47 made by Pakistanis in dirt floor shops not exactly known for rigorous quality standards. It would be nuts to exchange an M-16 for a home-made AK-47, an inferior weapon. The Pakistani ammo is likewise unreliable.
Fourth, there is no time in the last century when US troops have been sent into combat without rifles. The Chinese did, but never the US. Ever.
Fifth, it would be suicide to use an enemy rifle in combat. Some of our troops captured German Schmeiser rifles during the Normandy invasion and amused themselves that night by firing them at the Germans. Nearby US mortar crews, zeroing in on the sound of the enemy rifles, brought fire on them, killing and wounding many. Troops in combat, where the enemy is often obscured, would naturally fire at the sound of AK-47s. You would be crazy to carry one into combat. It's like wearing an enemy uniform into combat.
Sixth, it would double the logistical problem to carry nonstandard weapons. The US Army learned that in the Civil War when it had to supply combat units using a dozen different kinds of ammo. Standardization of weapons ensures that they can all be properly fed with the same ammo.
Now, of course, Obama being ignorant of military history and the military in general doesn't know any of this. Even worse, he lacks the street smarts to know BS when he steps on it. He picks up this BS story and thinks its shinola.
In short, he's an idiot. And his ignorance would kill people if he were ever put in command.
What Osama, I mean Obama, really meant to say is that the Taliban are using Phaser Ones, and our troops are using Phaser Twos (which are better than Phaser Ones). But sometimes, when our Phaser Twos run out of Di-lithium crystal energy, the troops have to use captured Taliban Phaser Ones. Luckily, Obama confirmed that the Taliban doesn't have Photon Torpedoes like our starships!
So don't worry about Obama, he speaks the truth! And he did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night (with free Sci-Fri channel)...
Obama did not mention the name of the man who supposedly fed him this bunch of bunk; in fact, if a military man did tell Obama this, he was probably being facetious. Seems to me the joke is on Obama for repeating such foolishness.

Ummmmm. It's been verified people. And by several sources. The captain who Obama spoke about has confirmed the story. If you want to call him a liar, that's on you.
Actually, it hasn't been verified but debunked. The journalist said the captain said the shortage occurred in training, not combat as Obama claimed. The AK-47s were picked up in addition to their own weapons, not because they lacked weapons as Obama claimed. The only thing Obama got right was that it happenned in Afghanistan.
What this demonstrates is the loose logic with which reporters report a story when they are trying to whittle the facts to fit their political agenda. It also demonstrates the rather desperate and blind attempt by Obama supports to bulldoze a bogus story through.
Maybe it would be easier for the Left to stop lying instead of trying to make the lies work.
What he said, what Obama said about our troops, its an obamination, simply an obamination.
