Polls: ROMNEY JUMPS 9 IN MISSOURI--- Since Florida! ...Update: Mitt Wins Maine!

UPDATE: Mitt Romney easily wins Maine, via Instapundit.

Romney Jumps 9 In Missouri Since the Florida Primary...
Is this the start of a national trend?

Dan Riehl reported...
The latest Rasmussen Report shows a stunning development:

The three-way race to win Missouri’s Republican Presidential Primary couldn’t get any closer—three candidates are within four points of each other in a poll with a four-point margin of sampling error.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows John McCain narrowly on top at 32% followed by Mike Huckabee at 29% and Mitt Romney at 28%. Ron Paul picks up support from 5% while 3% still plan to vote for some other candidate and 3% are not sure.

Just 57% of Likely Primary Voters are “certain” they have settled on their final choice for Tuesday’s election and 10% say there’s a “good chance” they could change their mind.
Dan Riehl also notes that Mitt has higher favorables than McCain.

I'm glad to hear the good news about Romney, for the past two days on the radio, the media has been digging his grave and counting him out early like they did in every race so far.

Romney is doing very well, but is not getting any Real Conservative endorsements. Only a few radio shows have spoken out for him, but none of the 'leadership'.

I will not vote for McCain.

P.S.
Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, had 59% of the vote with 3% of the towns holding caucuses reporting. Ron Paul trailed with 19%, John McCain had 18%, and Mike Huckabee and undecided votes each had about 2%.

snip...
Kim Pettengill, who has been a party activist for more than three decades, said Saturday's was the largest Kennebec County caucus turnout since 1980, the year Ronald Reagan won his first GOP nomination for president.

8 Simple reasons conservatives will never vote for John McCain

1. He voted against tax cuts (called them "tax cuts for the rich").

2. McCain-Feingold - limited political free speech

3. McCain-Kennedy - open borders with no consequences

4. McCain-Lieberman - global warming tax .50 cents on the gallon

5. Voted against drilling in ANWR - energy independence anyone???

6. Sided with Democrats on terrorist interrogation techniques

7. Has been heavily anti-corporation in rhetoric (I didn't manage for profit)

8. Said Alito was too conservative - SC appointees incredibly important issue

The man has sided with liberals on almost every major issue since the 2000 election.

Conservatives WILL stay at home if this man is nominated. Please support Romney or Huckabee as a viable alternative.

The concept that conservatives won't vote for McCain because he's "liberal" is absurd. The core aspects of conservatism is a small government and a strong military. Everything else is side dressing. McCain has supported both aspects for years.

Plus every domestic issue doesn't mean anything if we lose the war against Islamic jihad-fascism. The war on terror is still the most important issue facing the country today.

McCain has proven himself to understand the nature of the fight and is the best option to be Commander - in -chief. Do you really trust Hillary, Obama or even Romney to be in control of this aspect? I didn't think so.

Vote for a strong military.

Vote for the troops.

Vote to win the war on terror.

Vote for McCain.

I trust Romney on defense, although McCain does have that nuke-the-moon side that would be a bit more frightening to our enemies, possibly. On the other hand, I consider immigration a national security issue that McCain cannot be trusted on.

So, I prefer Romney, but will vote for either man in the general because either Hillary or Obama would be a nightmare.

If it must come down to McCain, I'll vote for him, but though he is pro Iraqi war, just about everthing else screams democrat. But rather than sit home or write in a vote like I'm hearing or voting for Hillary like Ann Coulter said so foolishly, I'll hold my nose and vote for McCain over Hillary, at least he's not a socialist. I'd like to see Romney smear him but if not, I refuse to forfeit my vote.

Conservatism contains both issues and principles. Mitt Romney hid in Europe during Vietnam just like Bill Clinton. Mitt became a Governor in the same state that elected Ted Kennedy, Deval Patrick, John Kerry , Mike Dukakis and Barney Frank. Mitt was a liberal who supported state dictated healthcare and sometime in 2005 he suddenly became more conservative to run for President. Thanks but no Thanks. I will reluctantly back McCain

Thanks Anonymous for giving us such insight into the mind of a McCain voter. How much have you actually researched Romney's record? Have you done any research at all?

Compare the records of Romney and McCain. One is the record of an achiever and problem solver who kept true to conservative principles. The other is the record of a legislator who consistently voted against conservatism.

John McCain has been an obstacle in the Senate for Republicans. This is a man who was one of two republicans to vote against the Bush tax cuts. This is a man who compromised with liberals on Supreme Court Justices when no compromise was needed. This is a man who wants to raise fuel taxes, who does not want to drill in Alaska, believes in man made global warming and wants to close down Gitmo.

McCain is wrong for the country and wrong for the Republican party.
