Obama on Immigration: "My Position Has Been Very Similar To John McCain's"

There you have it...
The most liberal United States Senator Barak Obama likens his immigration plan to Senator John McCain's:

Barack Obama does not believe his support of drivers licenses for illegal immigrants will hurt him in a general election, as his stance on immigration is very similar to John McCain's.
The "true conservative" may have a problem explaining this away:

Barak Obama was interviewed on ABC's World News Tonight on February 2, 2008:

Senator Barack Obama: "I think they [Republicans] will pounce on any issue that has to do with immigration. But as I said, my position has been very similar to John McCain's, who's maybe the likely Republican nominee. And if he wants to try to parse out this one issue of driver's licenses, an issue of public safety, my response is that we have to solve the overall problem."
That certainly won't help rally the base any in support of Senator McCain.

Flopping Aces says this is "quite telling."

MORE... The Kansas City Star today endorsed McCain because he voted against the Bush tax cuts.
The liberal media is really showing their arse this year, I'd say.

So...let's see if I have this right...

The press and the left approve of McCain so that the right goes unhinged and pushes for Romney, who will be easily beatable by either Obama or Hillary.

I love it. I knew the right was being played, but I didn't know how. Now I see it.

Your conclusion is stupid, Obama is trying to get McCain's hispanic voters.

It is you who are being played, McCain's campaign is $4 million in debt and the republican base is sick and tired of holding their nose for country-clubbers like MCain.

But hey you try getting the vote out for him, raising the money, making the calls since after the primary no democrat will.

Moderate/independent voters have an uphill battle using McCain to defeat either hillary or obama without the Convervative base.

Good luck amigo, you're going to need it.

What everybody overlooks is that the majority of illegals don’t need drivers licenses because they live in the big cities(more jobs) where taxpayers have already invested obscene amounts of money on public transportation projects. Here in san jose ca you go anywhere on a multitude of trains, buses, and shuttles. Why is public transport only good enough for taxpayers and not illegals?

I had decided weeks ago that if McCain got the nomination, I would not vote for him and if close, vote for Hillary or Obama. Coulter is weeks ate but I totally agree with her. Why should I vote for McCain and kick myself for 4 years for my stupidity. I'm going on 7 years for Bush - kicking myself every day for voting for him. I've had enough. Rather than asking myself 'surely it couldn't be any worse under Kerry' all these years of living the Bush nightmare, I will make that decision to find out.

There is an evil cabal of Republican elites who despise conservative Republicans. They do and they believe they can lead these sheep around by the nose. This sheep is not having anything to do with them. I will pick and choose who I support regardless of party affiliation, and I will mark those who ally themself with McCain with the scarlet "A" for asshole.
