Are Liberal Executives Wiping Out Conservative Talk Radio?
Conservative talk radio host and activist Melanie Morgan was cut from KSFO talk radio yesterday.
Melanie left this statement for her loyal listeners:
I lost a job today, but I didn't lose a child. I didn't lose a limb. And I didn't lose my passion for our troops. Her voice of reason will surely be missed.
My great friend Debbie Lee, whose son Marc Alan Lee, the first Navy Seal to die in the fighting in Iraq, called me to console me about being laid-off today.
I was thunder-struck by her deep generosity, AND the fact that everything in life must be kept in perspective.
Yes, I was laid off and I am sorry to be leaving all my friends from ABC/Citadel Broadcasting. I have some personal grieving to do. And I lost the ability to speak to millions of listeners at KSFO, and on the Internet. (Temporarily.)
But I will NEVER forget the true loss and grief of Gold Star Families who have suffered real agony in the name of our Country, those who fight for the rights of all us to live, breathe and enjoy our freedom.
I want to thank all the KSFO listeners who have supported our causes over the years, and urge them to stay tuned to Lee Rodgers and Officer Vic, as well as my friend Brian Sussman.
I love you all and I'm grateful for nearly 15 years of fellowship, friendship, passion and committment.
I'm not done yet --we've got a lot more work ahead of us.

Michelle Malkin has more on the decision by Citadel-ABC Broadcasting.
Brian Maloney at The Radio Equalizer has been following the story for months and reported that there are now calls for failed CEO Farid Suleman of Citadel to step down.
Farid Suleman is a committed liberal.
Citadel's stock is down 87% in just the last year.
Yet, Farid still has a job(?)
It looks like it's almost as if Farid is running the business in the ground on purpose. How can you possibly achieve such miserable results?
And, how do you manage to keep your job with results like this?
Or... Maybe ABC just wants out of the radio broadcasting business?
I'm not the only one wondering what is going on here.
JD Long left this comment on Radio Equalizer:
You may not be willing to make this connect-the-dots, but I will.Yes, liberals are certainly getting a kick out of this bad news.
1.) Suleman is a noted liberal.
2.) He goes to great lengths to acquire the largest Talk Radio network there is; ABC networks.
3.) The year of a Presidential election, he runs it into the ground.
Suleman has everything to gain politically from this debacle; and is set financially already from his grossly inflated compensation.
Somewhere, George Soros is laughing out loud.
ABC-Citadel will have a tough time surviving this downturn.
But, maybe that was the plan.
Or, maybe it's just an accident?
UPDATE: Radio Equalizer has more on the Partisan Motives behind this week's bloodbath.

re: [I'm not the only one wondering what is going on here.]
i've noticed my local station used to render a fair & balanced "lib & con" set up of alternating talk show hosts.. hence, i knew what was going on on both sides of the isle.. however, since they "re-arranged" all the daytime talk show hosts to libs only, i hardly listen to station anymore..

This same guy at Citadel is also responsible for dumping John Batchelor from WABC about 2 yrs. ago. Watch them. They are going to close down any dissenting voices on radio.
My favorite talk show host in DC, Chris Core, from 630 WMAL was also let go quite unexpectedly. Yesterday was a sad, sad day for all his loyal listeners, myself included.

Willing as I am to consider MSM malevolence as a viable explanation for just about anything, does anyone have a source that would show the RATINGS for the canceled shows ?
Perhaps it really is just a case of a steady and irreversible decline in the audiences listening to these shows. Hard to believe that 'successful' efforts would be deep-sixed just to suit an agenda. 'Failing' efforts on the other hand might well be given the boot whatever their orientations.
This story requires more study. A lot more study.

Fanning the Flames (10/06)
Melanie Morgan's swing from liberal to right-wing radio shouter may not have happened overnight, but it's permanent -- and profitable
excerpt:
[If you're kissing this off as the rantings of a couple of "hate radio" wingnuts, be advised that your family and friends may be listening. "The Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan Program" is the fourth-highest-rated morning show in the supposedly liberals-only San Francisco market. Has been for years; sometimes it's been higher.]
FIRE THIS MAN
[As another wave of destructive layoffs hit Citadel- ABC Radio today, the man responsible for his company's spectacular collapse still refuses to take responsibility for the extraordinary damage he has done to the nation's largest and most successful talk radio stations.
Between burned investors, compromised radio stations and a talk format now in poor shape going into a crucial election season, failed CEO Farid Suleman is busy making enemies from coast- to- coast.]
aah, somehow i don't believe it's so much
the ratings as it is KSFO's ranking CEO..

Just for one second, let's assume that there isn't some big conspiracy. Let's assume that there may be a financial reason. What were her ratings? You rant on and on but never once mentioned her ratings. What was her salary? Was she getting paid much more than she was worth?
Finally, I thought that conservatives understood money and market forces. Since Citadel was/is losing money (as you rightly pointed out) maybe, just maybe, they couldn't afford her.
I'm a KSFO Morning Show listener, so for the conspiracy buffs: No.
Lee Rodgers has made it clear more than once this week that this is strictly a financial decision by the parent company, one with which he disagrees vehemently on air but has no power over.
Morning Show ratings are consistently among the highest in the area, but Citadel Broadcasting lost over $800 million and is making very large, across-the-board cuts even in profitable units. Not just conservative talkers, but liberal talkers and non-air staff across the country are being cut.
