Bond Set at $25-35,000 For Holy Name Easter Protesters!

They may be sitting a while in their bloody church clothes.

The "Holy Name 6" as they are called by their Leftist supporters were arraigned in court this afternoon.

(Chicago Indymedia)
Bond was set at $25,000 to $35,000 for the six antiwar protesters who screamed and squirted fake blood around on the Catholics attending Easter Mass.
WBBM reported:

CHICAGO -- A judge set bond at $25,000 to $35,000 today for six anti-war protestors following an Easter service disruption at Holy Name Cathedral in the Loop Sunday morning.

Three men and three women were arrested at 735 N. State St. at the 11:40 a.m. service.

Cardinal Francis George was leading services at the Parish Center because of construction at the main Cathedral. The protestors discharged packets of fake blood. Some of it splattered parishioners.

Bond was set at $35,000 for Donte D. Smith, 21 and $25,000 for the five others including: Ephran Ramirez, Jr., 22, and Ryane J. Ziemba, 25, Mercedes Phinaih, 18, Regan Maher, 25, and Angela Haban, 20. Smith has served time in a federal prison in Texas for trespassing on a Native American reservation.

All six protestors were charged with two counts of felony criminal damage to property and two counts of simple battery.

As Cardinal George began his homily, the protesters stood up to stage what they called a Die-In.

The group denounced the Cardinal for meeting this past January with President Bush, who they label a war criminal.

Supporters of the protesters attended the arraignment today and are looking for donors to help raise the bail money for the "Holy Name 6."

MORE... Chicago Indymedia:

Today's hearing was in regards to charges of felony defacement of property at a place of worship in excess of $300; that makes the charge a Class III felony. The fake blood allegedly used in the action stained the auditorium's carpet and 14 chairs, incurring a $400 cleaning bill. According to the prosecuting attorney, the cleaning failed and the carpet will need to be replaced at a cost of $3000. Special conditions have been set for all the arrestees which prevent them from having any contact with Cardinal George, Holy Name Cathedral, or the area of 735 N. State Street.

Good.

Street clowns set themselves up as judge and jury. I believe that's a form of vigilantism, with the vigilante making the law up to suit the negative emotion he/she wants to act out.

Not only did they fail to get any message across, they choose the wrong stage and they are setting a bad example on how to exercise the 'free speach' right, no one is going to be positivily moved by acting like an ass.

They better hope they don't make bail unless those who bail them out are willing to hire bodyguards for them.

Oh christopher, calling them "radical" is giving them too much credit. There are no true "radicals" in the USA. There's a lot of sniveling little pampered attention whores who play "radical" to make themselves feel important, dissident, and edgy. Fact is none of these spoiled little cretins would ever take any real risks that would potentially threaten their lives like say students in Iran who are actually brave and dissident. These little turds know that ultimately they will be treated with kid gloves and suffer no truly threatening consequences for their boring, lame, pedestrian little act.

1) Saddam murdered 350,000 of his own people, including genocide of 5,000 Kurds by Chemical Ali.
2) He invaded Kuwait, murdered, raped, pillaged the people and then set all the oil wells on fire
3) After defeat in Gulf War One he signed agreements with Britain and America overseen by UN agreements as well.
4) He broke every single agreement over a 12 year period.
5) He refused to allow weapons inspectors full access.
6) He paid for the murder of innocent Israeli citizens by suicide bombers from Palestians. Handed out checks personally up to $25K
7) He allowed known terrorist in his land
8) He had members of his regime meet with Al Qaeda
9) He siphoned off billions in Oil for Food Scam with France Jacque Chirac, Russia, China and many other corrupt businesses and individuals across the world.
10) Attempted assasination attempt on a sitting US President. This alone could account for war.

After 9/11 the best strategic military option was to 1) surround Iran and split Iran and Syria who are cooperative Terrorist State enablers and war Proxy Fighters Financiers for Hezbollah in Lebanon 2) take down Iraq's Saddam as a final blow and force Sunni led Al Qaeda to fight in two regions, stretching their operatives and cells beyond safety of Pakistan, plus rat out radical Mosque in SA, Africa, etc, 3) Rebuild human intel and special ops across these regions and reduce dependency on satellite data, in order to infiltrate, build informant base, make new friends of old enemies, plus kick the Russians out - who Saddam loved so much - Stalin worshipper 4) Iraq is best case scenario for a free society in developing in the region and places all tyrannical leaders in the region on notice what can happen within 3 weeks if we so choose to do so again.

Except next time, anytime, we're ever attacked again, no mercy. Leaders in Iran will be taken down and they can rebuild themselves. Syria, same - Assad - dead. End of story. He has supported terrorist that have murdered innocent Americans around the world. He should be dead today.

For all the whining, wimps that hit this site complaining about Haliburton, etc., please let me know the next time you cough up blood for the 2.5 million Sudanese dead at the hands of Chinese and Russian weapons and money that support a corrupt tyrannical regime.

Bunch of phony hypocrites that slay your own nation during a time of war. Saddam had broken all UN agreements for 12 long years! We are legally at war and UN approved by the way. Even China and Russia have approved us still being there. 1441 gave our nation eveything we needed to go in and was not voted by the UN Security Council as illegal.

Take your bogus complaints to the Tibetans where real people are being murdered by a Communist dictatorship that "illegally" took over Tibet!

Bet you whiners will watch the Olympics all summer and just coooo and wooooo over China.

The same China that murdered 60 million of its own people under Communist Mao.

Right now, in Iraq, our soldiers, civilian contractors are 1) saving lives, 2) killing terrorist, 3) building a new nation of Freedom, Justice and Liberty.

Oh and the Iraqis? They don't want us to leave until the job is done. See Surge of Optimism:

Seriously, maybe you should organize some of your church comrades into a counter-protest. These left-wing idiots scatter at the first sight of tough pro-US people advancing towards them. Just look at what is happening in Berkeley lately. Vietnam Vets-turned-bikers are gathering to disperse the Code Pinko girlie-men regularly.

It is quite analogous to the Petraeus troop-surge counterinsurgency strategy.

Hopefully they will learn the consequences of their malicious acts -- a thing that by the gentle washing of their oyster-pure child brains, they are inert -- and from which they have been well-shielded.

"federal prison time for tresspassing":

Remember that Indian Reservations are treaty territories: technically speaking, they're seperate nations and a LOT of interactions with them are handled under Federal laws and by Federal agencies (specifically the FBI and the BIA). Showing up on one uninvited, making a jerk of yourself while you're there, or refusing to leave when you've been asked to, may mean that you're going to be charged under Federal law- not for what you were doing, but for where you were doing it. Especially if you've been enough of an annoyance that the Tribal officials decide to make an example of you.

Agreed - Indian reservations and national parks are subject to federal court. (I once got a parking ticket in Grand Teton National Park that directed me to federal court in Jackson if I wanted to appeal.)

No matter how much you pissed off tribal authorities, it still seems that you have to do quite a bit to end up doing time, as opposed to a big fine.

The original thread is now hopeless, so I'm moving here...

I guess what I'm asking is how do you tell the difference between "Oh, harmless ninnies" and "Shit, we're under attack" during the brief window of time when it actually matters?

Thus how can you blame someone for thinking "Gee, I'm not sure I could tell -- and so I'll take the safe choice, which is to clobber the guy."

(The analysis plays out roughly like this:
- I think it's ninnies and it's really ninnies: no big deal
- I think it's terrorists and it's really ninnies: no big deal
- I think it's ninnies and it's really terrorists: I die
- I think it's terrorists and it's really terrorists: I save my life
Thus the rational strategy is to think "terrorists," even if I turn out to be wrong.)

So I guess I am calling on all Americans to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for this sort of "protest." If some fool does this in your church, assume he's a terrorist. Reciprocate: if you're a cop or if you're on a jury, go easy on other people who have assumed the same.

Sometimes it takes tough love.
You can love them and still tell them their behavior was juvenile, disturbing and against the law.
You can't use what you assume as your rights to trample on the rights of others and I hope the large bonds sent that message loud and clear.

This little bit of theater hasn't gotten much publicity in the MSM, most likely because it makes the "anti war" (no, they're on the other side) protesters look bad.

I wonder what would have happened if following the recent murderous attack on the Merkaz HaRav yeshiva in Jerusalem, a group of anti-jihadis went to a mosque in Dearborn and started spraying fake blood and real lard.

Somehow I don't think the MSM's response would have been the same.

Not sure why the Indian Reservation assumption is continuing here. If you follow the link in Update 2 regard Smith's prior conviction, he trespassed on Ft. Benning a military reservation, not Indian.

He apparently took part in an annual protest of the Western Hemisphere Institute of Security Cooperation (formerly the School of the Americas or SOA), entered the facility through a portion of the fence that the protesters took down, and was arrested.

Military reservation = Federal offense.

Ironically, the annual protest commemorates 6 Jesuits who were killed by SOA graduates in El Salvador in the last millennium.

Sorry but my sympathy level for both you and them is non existent. The hallmark of being an adult is taking responsibility for your own actions. In this case your sister and her friends are going to have to take responsibility for the fact that they just ruined the rest of their lives.

They will probably be charged with the maximum penalty under the law. Chicago isn't Berzerkley and Chicago does not tolerate this kind of crap. Despite the fact that Chicago is run by one of the most powerful Democratic machines does not mean they will look the other way and give them a little slap on the wrist. My guess is they will get the maximum despite all the legal shinola their ACLU lawyers will try to pull.

I would also guess that they will be in solitary within 3 months of being convicted-for their own protection. You see, there are alot of inmates who will take a dim view of these tards, just like most of them take a dim view to child abusers.

And once they get out their lives will be essentially ruined. They will be automatically locked out of about 80% of the jobs due to their records, and those jobs they might be eligible for are ones that they won't do because they might "chip a nail". It also means they can not vote, then can not own a weapon, can not run for elected office and they will probably be monitored by various law enforcement entities for the rest of their lives. As convicted felons they will probably be barred from entering most countries so they can cross off their ideas of leaving the US, too.

I hope their parents have lots of money, because they will more then likely be supporting these tards for the rest of their lives.

He stood up to defend himself and in the crossfire the wasted dude fell and banged his head on the kerb. The cops show up and don't want to hear us and arrest him.
It all got cleared up in the end but had that have gone to court and my friend had to have paid court bonds could he have claimed them back or even sued the police force for wrongful arrest? Also where would be the best place for getting bonded?
