Uribe Humiliates Ecuadorean Leader For FARC Ties-- Forces Him to Walk Out of Summit ...Update: Clashes at Venezuela Border!!

UPDATE: Venezuelan soldiers cross into Colombia!

Noticias reported (translated):

In an obscure incident, a unit of the DISIP has crossed the border area and has entered into Colombian territory in Paraguachón. The inhabitants have surrounded the patrol and not have allowed the Venezuelan officers recovered.

Apparently, the unit of the DISIP was pursuing a vehicle.

The group of citizens Paraguachón has proffered insults against the DISIP in Venezuela and, before his aggressive attitude, units of the National Guard have crossed the border to assist and protect them.
FOX News reported that Colombia is showing images of the Venezuelan troops on national television.

President Uribe of Colombia publically shamed Ecuadorean Leader Rafael Correa at a summit today in Santo Domingo for taking cash from FARC terrorists.

Correa walked out.
Uribe waited for him to return to continue.

Uribe then read from a captured FARC letter:

Mr Uribe said Reyes had written to Farc leader Manuel Marulanda saying: "We wait for the visit of the Ecuadoran security minister and he has greetings from President Correa to commander Marulanda."
It made for good TV...

Colombian Leader Alvaro Uribe tore into Ecuadorean Leader Leftist Rafael Correa during the Latin American Summit today in the Dominican Republic.
Correa walked out during the exchange.
The Colombian government captured FARC terrorist computers this week that held information that linked Correa to the FARC rebels.
Bloomberg reported:

Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe tore into his Ecuadorean counterpart Rafael Correa during a regional summit, accusing the socialist leader of receiving campaign money from Colombian guerrillas.

Uribe, speaking to 15 Latin American presidents during the Rio Group summit in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, said Ecuador isn't an ally in the fight against terrorism and acknowledged he didn't inform Correa in advance of a military operation in Ecuadorean territory last week that killed top rebel leader Raul Reyes.

"I didn't inform him of the operation because we have not received cooperation from his government in the fight against terrorism," Uribe told the leaders.

Correa walked out of the room during Uribe's speech, prompting the Colombian leader to stop and say he wouldn't resume until his Ecuadorean counterpart came back to hear the charges. Minutes earlier, Correa called Uribe's version of the military operation a "farce" and said "Colombia shelters more terrorists than anyone."
Colombian forces ambushed FARC leader Raul Reyes a week ago. The computers in Reyes possession contained damning information on FARC activities including:

-- FARC connections with Ecuadorean president Rafael Correa
-- Records of $300 million offerings from Hugo Chavez
-- Thank you notes from Hugo Chavez dating back to 1992
-- Uranium purchasing records
-- Directions on how to make a Dirty Bomb
-- Meetings with "gringos" about Barack Obama
-- Information on Russian illegal arms dealer Viktor Bout who was captured this week
-- FARC funding Correa's campaign

It was a nice haul.

UPDATE 2: Another FARC leader was killed today.
Hat Tip Babalu
Iván Ríos, a member of the FARC’s Secretariat, is dead.

Chavez gives money to FARC.
FARC gives money to Correa.

Heck, just take FARC out as the middle man and let Chavez fund Correa instead.

They found notes on:

"-- Meetings with "gringos" about Barack Obama"

on a terrorist's computer??? Can you reference that and are there any more details?

Probably no significance, but a slight chance of something huge that the U.S. voters might need to know about.

Well that laptop computer from FARC honcho Reyes is indeed garnering lots of attention...

From the CounterTerrorism blog:

Provocative material in FARC computers needs broad disclosure and analysis

In that CT blog posting there was a link to the Columbian newspaper El Tiempo regarding e-mails: Reyes PC shows Chavez proposals regarding exchange of hostages for emprisoned guerillas

(I can read it fine but I'm not much of a translator)

This is an attempt at manipulating world opinion... Chavez to look like a humanitarian and FARC to get some people back...

Uribe's name makes an appearance in these e-mails...

Meanwhile there seems to be a bit of domestic trouble within FARC....

The CounterTerroism blog site had a link to the following: Colombia: Rebel killed by his security

BOGOTA, Colombia - A top rebel leader was killed by his own chief of security, who gave Colombian troops the leader's severed hand as proof, the defense minister said Friday. Ivan Rios was the second top rebel killed in a week, a major setback for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the country's largest rebel force...

(skip)

Thursday night, he said, a guerrilla known as Rojas came to the troops with Rios' severed right hand, laptop computer and ID, saying he had killed his boss three days earlier.

It was unclear what motivated the killing, but Santos said it was to "relieve the military pressure" because the rebels were "surrounded, without supplies and without communication."
