Obama: "I Seek Daily to Imitate His Faith" ...Until Today
“I constantly remember Rev. Wright as the shepherd who guided me to my commitment to Christ one Sunday morning at Trinity. I often consider, as I work in the Senate how he lives his life-a life of service to Trinity, Chicago and the nation; his activism on behalf of causes that few would champion and his dogged commitment to the first principles of love for God and fellow man. And in my personal walk, I seek daily to imitate his faith."
Barack Obama on Rev. Jeremiah WrightBut, that all changed today after the Reverend's preaching from this weekend.

5 Days Before He Announced His Candidacy
Obama threw the Reverend under the bus today.
This probably doesn't fit anymore either:
"I could no longer disown him as I could disown my white grandmother."Rev. Wright joined his white grandmother today:
And, don't forget Obama's line on "white folks greed":
"It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That's the world! On which hope sits!"The New York Times has a transcript of the senator's remarks today, via Instapundit.

So Obama has heard too much? And it only took one speech at the National Press Club. What do I think? I think it's bull crap.
Let me explain something. Twenty years and over 1,000 Sunday church services' and he never heard anything in Wright's Rants to convince him to leave that racist church?
Lets put it this way. Yesterday in 55 minutes Obama heard from Wright what he didn't in the possibly 62,400 minutes had he only attended an hour service for each Sunday over past 20 years. Or, in 3,300 seconds Obama heard enough from Wright to denounce him. But in the 3,744,000 seconds he attended Wright's sermons over a 20 year period he heard nothing to make him leave. Right.
The biggest problem Obama has is that he stayed at TUCC for so long to establish his street credibility with the black community. His worry was being perceived as "black enough" for the African Americans, but also being thought of "white enough" to be able to make a universal appeal to white voters as well. He wanted to have it both ways.
Jeremiah ended all that. He has not formally disowned Wright because he would lose his 94% black vote. Obama is as opportunist and expedient as Hillary...and I never thought I would find that in any candidate, bar none! He stayed too long at TUCC to be believed, which is why he didn't disown Wright in Philadelphia. Let's thank J Wright for unmasking Obama, once and for all, for the charlatan/ regular old politician that he really is.

Obama on decades old "friendships":
Wright = "i didn't know"
Rezko = "i didn't know"
Ayers = "i didn't know"
i can see the 2012 headline now..
Iran nukes NYC, Los Angeles & Salt Lake City!!
President Obama.. "i didn't know"..
btw: doesn't the fact that "we" found out more about Obama's friends in approx 2 months than "he" supposedly has in approx 2 decades strike anyone else as not passing the smell test??

I won't pretend to be alone in this analysis, but here goes.
In the beginning there was the obamster: A pristine hope-monger. There was also al sharpton, who questioned the obamster's "authenticity". There was also john lewis (democrat congressperson, and, I believe, a former preacher), who held a bidding war between the obamster and shillary for his super-delegate support. (shillary won, with a commitment to lewis's campaign of $5,000/month for lewis's convention vote.
The obamster had worked vewy, vewy hard for years to convince everyone around him, except white, Christian, non-terrorist, non-marxist patriots, to believe he was an "actual" black.
By the obamster's own admission (in his book) the best way to gain the favor of white folks was to fool them into thinking he didn't hate them, which he did. Hate them, that is.
Joe biden, (democrat, plagiarist, owner of a mini-hairfarm), pronounced the obamster fit for polite company because he bathed occasionally, and spit the marbles out of his mouth when he spoke.
The l.a. times pronounced the obamster to be electable as the "Magic Negro". Unlike sharpton and jackson, the obamster might be able to fool whites into voting for him.
Since liberals would vote for a mutant salamander if they thought it could win, and who now hated shillary because she didn't hate America enough, the issue of "authenticity" became irrelevant.
John lewis jilted shillary when his own district voted for the obamster. Al sharpton and jackson both went awol when the obamster won primary, after caucus, after primary, after primary.
Now that the obamster's drug use, along with his anti-Christian, anti-Second Amendment, racist, and anti-American biases have been exposed and left unanswered, he has only one actual hope left. He must depend on his black supporters to remember that he is still just lying to Whitey to regain their complacency, and he must depend upon Whitey to ignore his hatred toward them.
The first is a given. The second is now an impossibility. The obamster's campaign and head are about to explode, and the clintons are ecstatic.
I'm pretty happy, myself. "Operation Chaos" is succeeding. Thanks, Rush!
I believe Wright's comments yesterday were too arrogant and posionous for Obama. Obama obviously accepts some premise of the Liberation Theology.
But today we witnessed perhaps less of a true disownment because of a different in ideology but rather disownment due to personal hurt that Wright would continue to speak at the determent of Obama's political career. Every is asking, "Why would Wright do this to Obama?" It's gotta hurt.
Obama maybe very sincere when he says he is repulsed by the comments. I knwo I was angry all day at the racist remarks. I can only hope Obama has the same sort of racial sensitivity, since he is part white, toward everyone offended by Wrights' remarks.
Isn't it just a gift from the Gods that the Rev. Wright seemed to give Obama this great seconds chance to have that conversation on race.
What BS !!
Frankly, the whole thing felt fishy from the beginning. Making it worse was the effort to blame Clinton for setting up the Nation Press Club affair where Wright could oh so well re-self destruct. But, of course, it would be topped off by Obama's attempt at a Sister Soulja Moment.
Only a political novice would ever believe that this was a coincidence. Even Karl Rove isn't this obvious.
The whole thing is just too easy that it stinks to high heaven.
And, of course, it still doesn't explain why Obama sat in Trinity UCC for 20 years ?

Wright distraught over Obama

Hey, Amy, there was nothing new in wright's recent speeches. Neo was quite correct when he pointed out that the obamster has yet to explain 20 YEARS of so-called unconsciousness. The obamster is lying, again.
Hey. As long as Wright was raging against the rest of us, that was just fine and dandy with Obama. However, now that "HE" is the object of Wright's outrageous statements, why that's suddenly terrible!!! Sorry, Barack...no sale...and no free pass either. And Claire McCaskill repeating the same old talking point (ad nauseum)that this is just a distraction by Republicans aint going no where either. Too little and too frigging late!
Are white people the only people who take cruises? On the couple of cruises I've taken there have been people of all different colors.

talk about liars, they take the cake..
however, proving them to be the liars they are will also be a piece of cake.. don't they realize their "just words" have been recorded.. duh!!

BEAR, that was brilliant.
Personally, I think that Obama is really coming out on this only because he realized "Whoops, it's not good for me." He's worried about his campaign, that's all. I'm curious how he's going to explain the other 20 years. Obama van Winkel?
It's interesting that, all of the sudden, he's offended, and Mrs Anti-American Michelle is offended too. Suddenly! Out of the blue! It just doesn't add up.
Sorry Obambi, but it doesn't add up. You got some explaining to do. Start with 20 years in Adolf's church and why you didn't walk out there. Then continue with the appearence of the first videos showing Adolf Wright's screaming and why you didn't walk out on him then. But now, when Wright merely REPEATED his crap, you're offended?
Oh yeah, right...

did Oprah ever say why she left Wright's Compound??

I agree with cornhusker. Mr. Wright's hate-filled hogwash at the NPC was nothing new. But he painted Mr. Obama as a typical disingenuous politician; that was new, and intolerable to the rookie senator. And by only now throwing Mr. Wright under the bus with his grandmother, Mr. Obama has proved his 20-year pastor to be, like the proverbial stopped clock, accidentally correct.
While it was necessary, Mr. Obama's press conference yesterday was merely the final act in what seems like a Greek tragedy. And, while we can all empathize with the pathos of this episode it must also be recognized that the presser was simply another step in the evolution of the Senators position regarding the controversial Reverend Wright.
It reads almost like a chapter out of genesis. In the beginning there was Wright......Proffered as Mr. Obama's spiritual advisor-by both the candidate and his campaign-he was instrumental in the development of the crucial political base that ultimately catapulted Obama into the U.S. Senate. But, recognizing a potential liability he was scratched from the campaign's public kick-off because he said "some pretty hard things" in his sermons. Iteration 1...
Then Wright's hateful and divisive rhetoric becomes known to the national mainstream media, and is rightfully publicized; although never really to the extent, nor with the concomitant outrage, that it would have been for anyone else. At first he tried to explain away these terrible diatribes away as mere sound bites taken out if context. He went on to say that he had never heard any such hateful rhetoric in all his years at TUCC, and vouched for both Wrights character as well as his bona fides. Iteration 2...
But the controversy continued. As more evidence of Wright's true outlook surfaced Obama started to get hard questions about his weak response to the controversy (iteration 2-remember). Sensing that this most recent explanation would not play in Peoria-so to speak-Mr. Obama delivered his address in Philadelphia in March; an address that was breathlessly hailed as revolutionary, post racial, post partisan, and pronounced the matter closed (not so fast Keith Olbermann). In this address Mr. Obama said many things. Among these were the facts that racism still existed, shouldn't be decried as simply PC speak by the right wing haters, and, predictably, that government could get us out of this mess by seizing all the assets of rich folks and corporations and distributing it to the rest of us (a la class warfare). He also revised his excuses for the good Reverend. He put forth the out of context argument once again pointing out all of the fine work that TUCC did for Chicagoans. He also pointed out that Wright's outlook had been formed by his experiences with racism throughout his life-and therefore should be understood and implicitly tolerated by the oppressive society at large. He also deftly inserted the fact that he had indeed heard Wright say some controversial things but only on a very few occasions. The bottom line of his lauded speech was that Wright said some bad things over the years, Obama knew about it-but never heard the specific remarks that had been publicized, and we all had to understand and accept it. Iteration 3...
During the run up to the Pennsylvania primary Wright became a topic of discussion again in conjunction with "bittergate". Obama chose to address this latest eruption by going directly to the people in a legitimate, hard hitting, news forum-the View. Here he refined his iteration 3 excuses further. Now he claimed that he would have had to straighten out Wright on that hate speech-BUT-since Wright had retired and had apologized for the ugly remarks anyway he decided to let it all remain in the distant past. Although I never heard Wright's apology, the MSM did plenty of apologizing for him chastising anyone who brought up the subject as "spreading that poison" (as Joe Klein from Time put it). Iteration 4...
Which brings us to the present... If all Wright had done was appear on Bill Moyers cavalcade of softball questions, identity politics, and left wing propaganda agendas, as the erudite intellectual the MSM desperately wanted him to be then it would have been lauded by the punditry as proof that Wright, and Obama by extension, had been unfairly stigmatized by the forces of hate (read; anyone who doesn't buy into their agenda).
But Wright had to prove that he could out-hate everyone else. Not only did he re-iterate and re-inforce his known pronouncements, but he went a bit further over the edge revealing new twisted conspiracy fantasies and a dark separatist agenda. And then came the unkindest cut of all; he implied that Obama was merely denouncing him out of political expedience-that he was simply telling people what they wanted to hear to get elected. Enter yesterday's famous presser and Obama denunciation of Wright's ideals. Iteration 5...
It's a shame that it took his phony-baloney job being on the line to force the great reconciler to denounce obvious hateful speech, outlook, and intent. Furthermore, it still doesn't answer why the champion of great judgment tolerated, and in effect legitimized, this outlook for nearly 20 years-let alone subject his children to it. My intuition is that Wright's outlook obviously appealed to Obama's chip-on-the-shoulder wife.
Hitchcock commented extensively on the film depiction of direct violence as being unnecessary. He believed that given the proper set-up, your own imagination would connect the dots, as necessary, to provide a more horrible vignette than could ever be provided by the director. On his association with Wright, we can't rely on a direct answer from Obama so we can only fill in the blanks for ourselves. He better hope he hasn't set us up for a dramatic finale to his own political horror movie.

excerpt:
[It’s all about him! How dare Jeremiah Wright sabotage Obama’s chances for the Presidency! He’s on a book tour; he’s an egomaniac; he is a loose canon; he has his own agenda, etc., etc…
All true, but irrelevant. As they breathlessly and plaintively inquired as to whether, finally, Obama can move on from Reverend Wright, they missed, by a country mile, the defining issue surrounding Obama’s untimely and feeble attempts at resuscitating his badly tarnished image. For, if any blame is to be assigned for the resurgent spectacle of his former pastor and “spiritual mentor” which now haunts him, it rests squarely on the shoulders of Barack Obama, not Jeremiah Wright.
Far from settling the toxic matter of his association with his pastor’s divisive and inflammatory posturing definitely, Obama’s speech on race left too many questions unresolved. The speech left a residue of festering sores which Obama should have known would re-emerge. The moment he compared the racist diatribes of Jeremiah Wright with his white grandmother’s fear of getting mugged, he gave his lunatic pastor a get-out-of-jail-free card.
...
"In short, he gave his pastor the green light to perform his odious ministrations, which he now finds so objectionable," John Kinsellagh of the Beacon Street Journal wrote. "The chickens have come home to roost for Obama because he is the one who tried to excuse and justify the pernicious views of Jeremiah Wright. By his racial and moral relativism, Obama has let a very spiteful genie out of the bottle. He will not be so easily coaxed back in."]
Obama's Chickens Come Home to Roost
excerpts:
[To the National Press Club, Wright reiterated his claim that AIDS was created by the United States government as a racist plot to kill blacks; he explained that Obama's "distancing" himself from Wright was only a political calculation "based on electability, based on sound bites, based on polls"; and he also repeated his praise for Louis Farrakhan--the anti-Semitic, quasi-fascist, dictator-loving leader of the Nation of Islam--as "one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st century." This part of his message was reinforced by the entourage he brought with him to the event. The Washington Post explains that the audience included Marion Barry--the crack-smoking former mayor of Washington, DC--Malik Zulu Shabazz of the New Black Panther Party, and Jamil Muhammad of the Nation of Islam. And adds: "a member of the head table, American Urban Radio's April Ryan, confirmed that Wright's security was provided by bodyguards from Farrakhan's Nation of Islam."]
[The purpose of Obama's famous speech on race was to make Wright seem reasonable, understandable, even mainstream. The Obama campaign's hope, no doubt, was that this would make the Wright story go away. But Wright interpreted it as an invitation. If he's so understandable and mainstream, why not go on a media tour to explain himself to the world? And why not use Obama's own arguments to justify himself and browbeat his critics?
All of this is why it is no use for Obama to backpedal from his association with Reverend Wright, or to denounce him now, six weeks too late. It was Obama who sought to provide the Reverend Wright with immunity from criticism--and he can't complain when the reverend tries to take full advantage of that immunity.
This is the final collapse of the noble promise of the Obama campaign. The man who had once put himself forward as the candidate who would transcend racial politics once and for all has ended up legitimizing a Christian equivalent of Louis Farrakhan--and injecting him into the American political debate.]
Amen..
