Obama on Wright: "I Seek Daily to Imitate His Faith"

Bob McCarty and Ironic Surrealism II discovered this article written last month about Obama and Jeremiah Wright by Rev. Barbara Reynolds in a Louisiana Weekly column:
"America Needs Jeremiah Wrights"
...For 20 years, Rev. Wright has been a “friend, mentor and pastor.” This is how Sen. Obama described him in a letter dated February 5, 2007.Umm. Now- is it OK to tie Barack Obama to his pastor, mentor and father figure, Jeremiah Wright?
In that letter, the senator wrote “I constantly remember Rev. Wright as the shepherd who guided me to my commitment to Christ one Sunday morning at Trinity. I often consider, as I work in the Senate how he lives his life-a life of service to Trinity, Chicago and the nation; his activism on behalf of causes that few would champion and his dogged commitment to the first principles of love for God and fellow man. And in my personal walk, I seek daily to imitate his faith.”
Barack Obama wrote that letter about Wright 5 days before he announced his candidacy for president.
UPDATE: Doug Ross-- "You don't need a weatherman to know which way Obama's faith blows."

McCain’s televangelist ally believes God damns America
Since Democrats began complaining about (and the media kept ignoring) the controversial relationship between John McCain and radical televangelist John Hagee, the Texas megachurch pastor has kept a fairly low profile. It’s hardly surprising — McCain probably encouraged him to avoid major media attention, and Hagee, anxious to help his political ally, obliged.
In fact, a month ago today, the New York Times ran an edited interview with Hagee, in which the Times’ Deborah Solomon asked, “Let’s talk about your much-quoted comment that Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for a gay rights parade in New Orleans.” Hagee responded, “We’re not going down there.” He called the subject “off-base.”
Now, however, Hagee is willing to go down there.
On September 18, 2006, Pastor John Hagee — whose endorsement Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said this past Sunday he was “glad to have” — told NPR’s Terry Gross that “Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.” “New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God,” Hagee said, because “there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came.”
On his radio show yesterday, right-wing talker Dennis Prager asked Hagee to respond to “the various charges made against him” in a fact sheet put out by the Democratic National Committee. Asked about his comments on Hurricane Katrina, Hagee said “the topic of that day was cursing and blessing.”
Hagee told Prager, “What happened in New Orleans looked like the curse of God, in time if New Orleans recovers and becomes the pristine city it can become it may in time be called a blessing. But at this time it’s called a curse.” When Prager sought to clarify if Hagee believes “God’s hand” was responsible for Katrina “because of a sinful city,” Hagee responded, “That it was a city that was planning a sinful conduct, yes.”
Obviously, Hagee is entitled to his religious beliefs, but I suspect the notion that a deadly, devastating hurricane was the result of divine intervention and God’s “judgment” is the kind of thing most Americans would find kind of nutty.
Atrios adds a great point: “God Damns America … and it’s okay as long as conservatives think so.”
I also think that al-'Bama's pastor has a lot to emulate, I hate those honky bastards almost as bad as meathead. I think that Wright should be running for president then meathead could 'feel the love.'
BTW, it's really good that Hagee was able to bring McCain into the fold. I imagine that after listening to Hagee's sermons for twenty years McCain has been properly bleached?
Of course we believe everything that KOS says, why he's the most fair and balanced person on the face of the earth, isn't he? He wouldn't, like, be a Prog operative would he?
Pretty funny, meathead. After bashing Republicans for years over relatively slight connections to one nutcase preacher or another, "The chickensssssss . . . . . . are coming hoooooooome. . . . . . to rooooooooooost" to quote one of your faves.
If 'Progressives' (or whatever those backward looking Stalinists are calling themselves now) could bash Rev Pat Robertson or Oral Roberts or Jerry Falwell, then it would appear to be only fair to clobber Obama about the hateful preacher he has associated himself with, voluntarily, for *TWENTY* years.
Lotsa luck spinning this one, you hypocrite.
Wow.
Even though I grew up in Pennsylvania, I actually lived in New Orleans all that time!
New Orleans IS America!

"Rev." Wright is the gift that keeps on giving. And Obama and his worshipers are, despite all their alleged education and ""intelligence" still think that Obama is still electable. They might also be stupid enough to think that they can intimidate us with their constant screeches of "racism" at all who do not worship the Obamamessiah and with their plans to "Recreate '68".
I am going to make a prediction. After November the suicide rate among the LLL Moonbat crowd is going to rise sharply. One can only hope that they just kill themselves instead of becoming splodydopes. if they start doing that kind of shite there will be many of them dying either by "suicide by cop" or "riding the lightning".

aah, the trolls will never get it, but why should they.. knowing the difference between calling on God to Damn America! before the fact vs saying God punished America after the fact has absolutely nothing to do with their loony tune tales.. not to mention the knowing what the difference between an "endorsement" vs a "uncleship; relationship; friendship; mentorship; advisorship; etc", but i digress..

When Will We Admit the Truth About Barack Obama?
And what is he? What is the truth about Barack Obama? You won't hear it from the Sean Hannitys of the world, who will tell us that he is a "good man" with bad ideology. Such people are simple telling you what they're supposed to believe; it's what "fair and balanced" commentators do, the stuff of "acceptable" conservatives. The truth about Obama is that he is not a good man.
He is a bad man.
Good men don't turn a blind eye to unrepentant ex-terrorists; support vile, anti-American bigots; lie about their core beliefs; and look down on traditional Americans. Most significantly, good men don't allow beautiful babies -- the least among us -- to be discarded like refuse and die miserable, lonely deaths in dark utility rooms. In fact, if we cannot call Obama a bad man, there is no such thing as a bad man. And calling him a good man doesn't just strain credulity, it puts it in the hospital in traction.
Ah, yes, hope, change, unity, infanticide, bigotry, terrorism, Obama . . . good? We all know what is wrong with this picture.

How Dare They Ask Dems Tough Questions!
By Larry Elder (smackdown)
Thursday, April 24, 2008
excerpt:
["Sen. Obama, you also oppose Bush tax cuts, and claim that they take money away from the Treasury. But President Kennedy signed across-the-board tax cuts in the 1960s and said, 'It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low -- and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut rates now.' Was he wrong?"]
[Obama at first accepted the premise of Gibson's question -- that capital gains tax cuts actually generate more tax revenue. Obama said he considered the tax hike a matter of "fairness" -- that the rich need to pay more. But then he promptly contradicted himself. The tax hike, said Obama, will actually raise enough revenue to pay for his social programs -- including the government takeover of health care -- and pay down the federal debt. Huh?
Gibson, as well as his co-host, George Stephanopoulos, caught flak from analysts and pundits for asking such a question, and for spending time on "trivial" matters like Obama's 20-year relationship with his racist, anti - Semitic, anti - American, conspiracy - believing pastor.
I agree. We need more substantive questions:]
[Sen. Obama, singer Alicia Keys says the government invented gangsta rap. She said it causes black rappers to kill each other, thus preventing the emergence of another "great black leader" like Tupac Shakur. Does this make Reverends Jackson and Sharpton insecure about their status as "great black leaders," since the government allows them to remain alive?]
[Sen. Clinton, you say that you intend to fight the war on terror differently than President George W. Bush. There is a rumor that you intend to tell Islamofascists that the 72 brown-eyed virgins all look like former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Is this true -- I mean about the rumor?]
Feel free to use any or all,
Charlie. Again, no charge.]

Black Liberation Theology

[Cone's Black Liberation Theology is as follows:
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."]
Islam and Black Liberation Theology
excerpt:
[The reason for so many parallels between Islam and BLT is that they are both based upon the same principles—submission and duality. Since Islam views white America as an enemy, BLT see Islam as the "enemy of my enemy" and therefore is a friend. Witness the award that Rev. Wright gave Louis Farrakhan as an outstanding person. This comradeship is temporary. When the time comes and Islam is fully ascendant, BLT will find out that Islam has been using them, just as Islam uses the Left. In the end, Islam will annihilate BLT for the simple reason that Islam demands political submission from ALL, not the just the whites.]

If government thinks they can do it by themselves they're wrong. Churches have to recognize that they've got to be partners with the government. Business has an enormous role....

Obama's Weathermen Ayers and Dohrn
excerpts:
[Instead of planting bombs in public buildings, Ayers now works to indoctrinate America’s future teachers in the revolutionary cause, urging them to pass on the lessons to their public school students.
Indeed, the education department at the University of Illinois is a hotbed for the radical education professoriate. As Ayers puts it in one of his course descriptions, prospective K–12 teachers need to “be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and . . . be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, a teacher teaching for social justice and liberation.” Ayers’s texts on the imperative of social - justice teaching are among the most popular works in the syllabi of the nation’s ed schools and teacher-training institutes. One of Ayers’s major themes is that the American public school system is nothing but a reflection of capitalist hegemony. Thus, the mission of all progressive teachers is to take back the classrooms and turn them into laboratories of revolutionary change.
[snip]
Ayers’s influence on what is taught in the nation’s public schools is likely to grow in the future. Last month, he was elected vice president for curriculum of the 25,000 - member American Educational Research Association (AERA), the nation’s largest organization of education - school professors and researchers.]
[The next time Obama — the candidate who purports to be our next “education president” — discusses education on the campaign trail, it would be nice to hear what he thinks of his Hyde Park neighbor’s vision for turning the nation’s schools into left-wing indoctrination centers. Indeed, it’s an appropriate question for all the presidential candidates.]

The march would also provide a forum to showcase the emergent NBPP as an alternative to other groups interested in guiding black youth, specifically the NOI. excerpts:
[Ellison is the first Muslim in the U.S. Congress. With the help of a less than investigative mainstream media he was able to sidestep his more than troublesome past with the Nation of Islam (NOI). He has since denied being a part of NOI other than assisting for 18 months with the million man march. He now describes himself as a sunni Muslim.
Regardless, the facts are out there and since occupying his U.S. Congressional office, he certainly has not been one to hide his Muslim faith. In fact he wears it on his sleeve, whenever it suits him and other Islamist causes around the United States.]
[Are we then to assume that the limited role models, like Congressman Ellison, who do exist are teaching an ideology which will prevent the radicalization of youth? With vitriolic speeches like the one he gave to the Atheists for Human Rights on July 8, 2007, what’s to ensure that Congresssman Ellison didn’t spew the same hateful propaganda against the Bush administration to the Muslim youth who emulated him in Washington D.C. on July 13, 2007 just 5 days later?
Until so-called Muslim leaders like Congressman Ellison begin to understand the linkage between political Islam and the radicalization of youth toward terrorism and radical Islamism, we will make no headway in this global war.]

the "repugnant" truth
excerpt:
[Documents from the Soviet Union's archives, USSR spy messages deciphered by the U.S. government's Venona program, and declassified FBI files and wiretaps all prove that hundreds of U.S. officials were agents of an international Communist conspiracy. If these previously inaccessible documents shed light on only a few of McCarthy's specific charges, they certainly vindicate his general charge that security in the U.S. government was lax and that large numbers of Communists penetrated positions of great importance.
Alger Hiss, Roosevelt foreign policy advisor and first secretary general of the United Nations; Harry Dexter White, assistant secretary of the Treasury and Truman's appointee as director of the International Monetary Fund; and Lauchlin Currie, administrative assistant to Presidents Roosevelt and Truman, have all been confirmed, among hundreds of others, to have been agents of the USSR. In addition to the multitudes of executive branch agents, we also know of at least three Congressmen working clandestinely for the Soviet Union during this time period.
Government was hardly the only domain targeted by Soviet espionage. Influential media figures like I.F. Stone of The Nation, Michael Straight, editor of The New Republic, and Pulitzer Prize Winner Walter Duranty of The New York Times were actually agents of the Soviet Union. Prominent unions like the Congress of Industrial Organizations and the Screen Actors Guild were dominated by Communists. The "Distractions" Of Obama's Character
excerpt:
[With that, Obama identified the new public enemy: the "distractions" foisted upon a pliable electorate by the malevolent forces of the status quo, i.e., those who might wish to see someone else become president next January. "It's easy to get caught up in the distractions and the silliness and the tit for tat that consumes our politics" and "trivializes the profound issues" that face our country, he warned sternly. These must be resisted.
Why? Because Obama understands that the real threat to his candidacy is less Hillary Clinton and John McCain than his own character and cultural attitudes. He came out of nowhere with his autobiography already written, then saw it embellished daily by the hagiographic coverage and kid-gloves questioning of a supine press. (Which is why those "Saturday Night Live" parodies were so devastatingly effective.)
Then came the three amigos: Tony Rezko, the indicted fixer; Jeremiah Wright, the racist reverend; William Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist. And then Obama's own anthropological observation that "bitter" working-class whites cling to guns and religion because they misapprehend their real class interests.
In the now-famous Pennsylvania debate, Obama had extreme difficulty answering questions about these associations and attitudes. The difficulty is understandable. Some of the contradictions are inexplicable. How does one explain campaigning throughout 2007 on a platform of transcending racial divisions, while in that same year contributing $26,000 to a church whose pastor incites race hatred?
What is Obama to do? Dismiss all such questions about his associations and attitudes as "distractions." And then count on his acolytes in the media to wage jihad against those who have the temerity to raise these questions. As if the character and beliefs of a man who would be president are less important than the "issues." As if some political indecency was committed when Obama was prevented from going through his 21st -- and likely last -- primary debate without being asked about Wright or Ayers or the tribal habits of gun-toting God-loving Pennsylvanians.]
Obama is the expert when it comes to distractions.. "don't look here, look over there"..
i don't give a bats guano how old Obama was when Ayers bombed the Pentagon, etc..
i want to know how old Obama was on 9/11, when the unrepentant words of Ayers & Dorhn appeared in the NYT on 9/11??
i want to know how old Obama was when Ayers & Dorhn not only threw a welcome to politics party for Obama in their home, but raised funds as well??
i want to know how old Obama was when he worked on the board of the Woods Fund with & alongside of Ayers??
those are just a few of the many questions about Obama's almost 2 decades long relationship with a well known, self described, unrepentant terrorist with whom Obama says he did not "consult" with "on an regular basis".. hence, he must have "consulted" with him on an "irregular basis", as it would be illogical to assume they never talked to each other at fund-raisers, personal visits, or at work, not to mention at podiums they shared giving speeches at several functions that he must answer to..
call me a racist, call me a bigot, call me a "typical white person, call me whatever the heck you like.. i still want answers from Mr. "wanna be my president" Obama..

Rezko Connections: More Reasons Obama Should Worry

[The reason Mr. Obama need worry is that the contract at issue, $50 million for an Illinois-based private security guard enterprise called Companion Security, turns up in Iraqi government court documents in the pursuit of $650 million stolen from the CPA between 2003 and 2006 by Mr. Alsammarae. “There are lots of names of companies in the States that they used to steal from us,” a Baghdad official with full knowledge of the case says of the four-inch-thick file of court documents that convicted Mr. Alsammarae in October 2006; “and here is Companion.”
The reason Mr. Obama need worry is that Mr. Rezko’s accuser, Daniel Mahru, is not only a government witness in this present Rezko trial, but also was the lawyer for the original Companion Security deal and is reported to have pushed another Rezko partner in Companion Security, Daniel T.
