Barack Obama Is Going to Open New Channels Of Diplomacy With Iran
Barack Obama believes that:
"We have not exhausted our non-military options in confronting the Iranian threat; in many ways, we have yet to try them.Barack Obama- Is ready to offer the Iranian Regime membership into the World Trade Organization:
Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization. "

But, Oops!... There appears to be a problem with this plan.
Amir Taheri at The Wall Street Journal has some critical information that was missed by Obama's staff of foreign policy advisors:
As a nation, Iranians are among the few in the world that still like the U.S. As a revolution, however, Iran is the principal bastion of anti-Americanism. Last month, Tehran hosted an international conference titled "A World Without America." Indeed, since the election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2005, Iran has returned to a more acute state of revolutionary hysteria. Mr. Ahmadinejad seems to truly believe the "Hidden Imam" is coming to conquer the world for his brand of Islam. He does not appear to be interested in the kind of "carrots" that Secretary Rice was offering two years ago and Mr. Obama is hinting at today. It doesn't look like the Iranian Regime will be much interested in the Obama Campaign's incentive of membership in the WTO...
Mr. Ahmadinejad is talking about changing the destiny of mankind, while Mr. Obama and his foreign policy experts offer spare parts for Boeings or membership in the World Trade Organization. Perhaps Mr. Obama is unaware that one of Mr. Ahmadinejad's first acts was to freeze Tehran's efforts for securing WTO membership because he regards the outfit as "a nest of conspiracies by Zionists and Americans."
Since they just walked away from the organization 3 years ago.
...Unless, of course, Obama can clean out all the "nest of Zionists and Americans" on staff first.
Maybe that's part of the plan?
--ABC's Political Punch and MSNBC probably won't like this post on Obamamessiah, either. Huh?
UPDATE: As Amir Taheri wrote in his piece today at The Wall Street Journal that the Bush Administration has already tried the "juicy stick" approach. The current administration even tried the juicy WTO incentive (Thanks to Allahpundit for the link).
But, the Iranian regime was not interested.
Captain Ed also wrote about the incentive approach with Iran in 2005.
You'd think that the Obama Campaign would know this(?)
But, instead they are declaring a grand "New Channel of Diplomacy" with the same incenitive.
It's evident from this tired WTO incentive along with the campaign's appeasement line that Obama offers nothing for dealing with Iranian problem facing Israel and the West.
UPDATE 2: Obama's plan makes perfect sense to his admiring fans.
Democrats believe that the Iranians just want economic opportunity and then all would be well- then they would give up their nuke program.
Of course, this is lunacy.
HotAir has more on this today.
UPDATE 3: Dan Riehl has an interesting post on Barack's uncle who supposedly liberated Buchenwald.
Hat Tip RFW
What's the difference between Obama and David Duke? Nothing...they both chomp at the bit to sit with Holocaust-denying, Islam-abusing, terrorist-funding sociopaths.
ReplyDeleteThe Barack Obama Gaffe-o-Rama.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder the Democrats are in such a rush for Mrs. Clinton to bow out. These gaffes continue and the superdelegates may start abandoning this empty-headed lightweight.
Riehl World View says Obama's great uncle Charles W. Payne, who helped liberate Buchenwald, served in the Navy...
ReplyDeleteIt's becoming more and more obvious that Obama suffers from what possibly the most common Leftist failing next to BDS. He is obdurately, willingly ignorant of anything he chooses not to notice. The actual existence of a fact or an event has no bearing on whether or not he will admit that it either exists or has meaning.
ReplyDeleteI suspect this attitude is essential to maintaining a proper Marxist/Progressive state of mind.

ReplyDeleteObama may be an empty suit, but his brain is chock
full of psychologically convoluted Hitlerian ideals..

Banafsheh,
ReplyDeleteThere is no ideological difference between them, in fact the only difference between them is skin color. Put both of them behind a curtain and you would be hard pressed to tell who is who.
They are the poster children for the fact that racism, antisemitism, anti Americanism, lunacy and stupidity is all equal opportunity employers.
bg,
Yes he is an empty suit but more then that he is a puppet on a string.
As to the subject of GP's post.
ReplyDelete/passes bowls of ditto's delish caramelcorn to GP and bg....
I do have to laugh at the Obamas, their worshipers and the Democratic party.
They apparently believe that their MSM propaganda tool will be able to cover up Obama's gaffes and stupidity.
They are fools and I will enjoy laughing at them as they throw their spoiled brat temper tantrums.
Elections are won in the last 45 days before election day and I can guarantee you that these gaffes of his combined with the Marxist shite that has come out of their mouths and is on video will make for some dynamic ad campaigns.
Ad campaigns the Obama's, their worshipers and their MSM propaganda wing can do nothing about. Sure they can whine and cry and try to spin it but video doesn't lie. In fact they will be trying to spin in a quicksand pit-each move only serves to get them into more trouble. Their strawmen they might try to set up to counter the negative publicity will get blown down by the hurricane of truth. If the Obama's go back on GMA and whine about being picked on again that will only serve to point out what a bunch of thin skinned, egotistical losers they are.
/passes Banafsheh some of ditto's delish caramelcorn, too.
ReplyDeleteit doesn't matter because Iran spends 1/100th of what America spends on defense...their no threat
ReplyDeletebtw, he got that stat from a book he is reading - pictures and quotes here
Anon~ The WTC was brought down for less than $100,000, and that caused 50 Billion dollars worth of economic damage to the US (or was it ten times that much?)
ReplyDeleteIran's 4 billion budget could finance 40,000 such Terror attacks.
Care to reassess that threat?
An important historical corollary - JFK held "tough" direct talks with Kruschev in Vienna, 39 days later the Berlin Wall went up.
ReplyDeleteRe Iranian "incentives" (read "mob-style extortion payments") -
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting how the libs always believe the absolute worst about America and the absolute best about our enemies?
All the mullahs want, you see, is economic opportunity that's been denied them by the e-e-e-vil, fatcat US imperialists. The murdering mullahs will stop being the biggest funders of international terrorism if we mend our allegedly evil ways. God, I hate liberals.

Kennedy Talked, Khrushchev Triumphed
excerpt:
[Kennedy’s aides convinced the press at the time that behind closed doors the president was performing well, but American diplomats in attendance, including the ambassador to the Soviet Union, later said they were shocked that Kennedy had taken so much abuse. Paul Nitze, the assistant secretary of defense, said the meeting was “just a disaster.” Khrushchev’s aide, after the first day, said the American president seemed “very inexperienced, even immature.” Khrushchev agreed, noting that the youthful Kennedy was “too intelligent and too weak.” The Soviet leader left Vienna elated — and with a very low opinion of the leader of the free world.
...
A little more than two months later, Khrushchev gave the go-ahead to begin erecting what would become the Berlin Wall. Kennedy had resigned himself to it, telling his aides in private that “a wall is a hell of a lot better than a war.” The following spring, Khrushchev made plans to “throw a hedgehog at Uncle Sam’s pants”: nuclear missiles in Cuba. And while there were many factors that led to the missile crisis, it is no exaggeration to say that the impression Khrushchev formed at Vienna — of Kennedy as ineffective — was among them.
...
If Barack Obama wants to follow in Kennedy’s footsteps, he should heed the lesson that Kennedy learned in his first year in office: sometimes there is good reason to fear to negotiate.]

I looked at the web page shown above and doubled up laughing. The "I'm Asking You to Believe" crap could have come straight off any bad office motivational poster.
ReplyDeleteThat pic of Obama gazing off into the distance looked familiar--and then it hit me......

There must be Obama-gaffe-fatigue setting in because I've posted your story in a couple of places and have been surprised that it hasn't gotten more attention.
ReplyDeleteYour blog has really been doing a great job the last couple weeks!
