Brrrr... Blizzard Blasts South Dakota-- 4 Feet of Snow Reported

Four feet of snow... In May?

A wintry blizzard slammed South Dakota this week producing 60 mph winds and leaving up to 4 feet of snow near Harding.
Press and Dakotan reported:

A storm that produced a foot or more of snow and 60 mph winds brought things to a halt in western South Dakota Friday and then raised worries about flooding from a rapid melt.

Interstate 90 was closed between Wall and the Wyoming border. Officials in Spearfish, Belle Fourche and Butte County declared snow emergencies. All roads were closed to travel except for emergency vehicles...

There were unconfirmed reports of 30 inches of snow in the Lead-Deadwood area, and 4 feet near Harding in the far northwest corner of the state.

The storm knocked down power poles in Harding County, and several counties were experiencing intermittent power outages, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

"This is a serious situation and we need the public's cooperation to keep South Dakotans, emergency workers, and travelers safe for the next 24 hours," Gov. Mike Rounds said in a midday statement. "Right now the severe weather is making our response and recovery efforts very difficult. As the weather clears, we'll have more resources ready to clear the roads and help with the power concerns."

Winds up to 66 miles per hour were blowing snow around in Rapid City Friday morning, when Mayor Alan Hanks told people to stay home.

Further west... This spring, temperatures 15 degrees below normal have kept the snow in the Utah mountains, which is good news for skiers. (FOX Utah)

Earlier this week it was reported that global warming will take a break in the next decade thanks to a natural shift in ocean circulations.

I lived in the Dakotas for many years.

Things like this are not entirely uncommon. I can remember we got a foot of snow on Memorial Day one year.

If there is a foot of snow on the ground on the Fourth of July you better start looking for the glaciers, hehehe!

PS There is an old joke in the North Dakota that goes "The glaciers never really left, they just went back to get more rocks."

Me thinks, the snow was a gift from Canada - no worries, it will be followed by warm weather.

Repeat after me, Jimmycrap:

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

A graph of the five-year running mean temperature makes it crystal clear that global temperatures continue to rise.

Jimmycrap won't tell you that. He doesn't like the facts. He is, in fact too stupid to understand the facts. So he ignores them.

And he wants you to be ignorant too.

Repeat after me, Jimmycrap:

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

Weather is not climate.

As to brainLESS' link, I find this comment right on target:

jmklein Says:

The graph begins at 1880, right after the Little Ice Age. OMG OMG OMFG!!! ITS WARMING AFTER AN ICE AGE OMG OMG OMG!!!

Hey, brainLESS. The heat wave that killed hundreds of elderly French people some years back was weather also, NOT due to faux agw as was claimed.

I would ask what you think of the PDO moving into a cold phase that will cool the Earth but... there's not point.

'side from the one on your head, dontchaknow.

Otter is too dishonest to answer the following question:

In which direction has the mean temperature of the earth been trending the last thirty years?

Up or down?

Run away, gutless asswipe.

Gateway, I must apologize, but:

meatbrain is a worthless ASSHOLE.

I would also ask him which way temperatures were trending from the 50s to the 702.

Which way were temperatures trending from the teens to the 40s.

Which way... but of course, the worthless ASSHOLE does not understand natural cycles.

meatbrain is a God-Damned Bastard.

And he should be Banned.

Shove it up your ASS, brainLESS. You lying, God-Damned creep.

I have a question for meathead. Which way has the average world telephone number been trending for the past 10 years? This has just as much meaning for global warming as the "the mean temperature of the earth" (which I will assume is your ignorant way of discussing something resembling "the average temperature of the lower atmosphere of the earth" since the "average temperature of the earth" would necessarily include that central part of the earth which appears to be molten iron, you ultra-maroon).

"Weather is not climate."

"climate (klmt)
The general or average weather conditions of a certain region, including temperature, rainfall, and wind."

Weather makes up one's region's climate, so stating, "Weather is not climate" would be like stating, "Water is not rainfall."

As expected, Otter lacks the courage to answer a simple question. I thank him for his kind cooperation in demonstrating the essential gutlessness of the common wingnut.

"[G]lobal warming will take a break in the next decade"? Hey, this is hot stuff! So hot, in fact, it seems to have melted a few brains along the way.

With no statement to the contrary in the Herald Sun report, we have to assume a level of CO2 *no less* than the current one, which AGW adherents say already leads to temperature increases. We are then told that, for a while, temps in one region will be lower while those in a second region will remain stable -- in other words, somewhat lower overall. Yet continued greenhousing "should" make things *warmer* overall. The only way to resolve this paradox is to assume a third geographical region where the temperature rises. Simple enough: area three is anywhere/everywhere that is not part of areas one or two. Fine. And there's the problem. The average temp in area three must increase not just at today's projected rate, but enough faster as well to offset the cooling of area one. That much change would be readily and unmistakably visible in just a few years. But so would its absence! Hence the lack of definition -- or even mention -- of this third region.

Proportions, ratios, offsets.: either the worshippers of the Great God AGW have forgotten these basics of math...or they're hoping we have.

Global warming is a religion and a fanatical one at that. With non-fanatical religions, if you question or express disbelief, the religion's adherent will either try to convince you that they are correct or leave you alone. Not so with those that worship at the altar of global warming. Challenge them, and the tactic used is to attempt to frame the challenger as ignorant. After all, if you don't agree, you must just be sooooo ignorant!
