Jimmy Carter Bashes Bush-- Wants US to Give Iran Nuclear Fuel

Either Jimmy Carter is really, really stupid or he really, really hates Israel.
Jimmy Carter bashes Bush- wants US to give Iran nuclear fuel.
Iranian Fars News reported:

Carter Urges US to Resume Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Former US President Jimmy Carter urged Washington to establish friendly ties with Tehran, reiterating the need for his country to resume trade relations with Iran, which he described as a "rational" nation.

Speaking at the Hay Festival yesterday, Carter also suggested the US should provide nuclear power technology and fuel to Iran as a show of goodwill.

"What happens if, in three years' time, Iran has a nuclear weapon," Carter asked. "I'm not sure that is going to happen, but if it does, what do we do? They are rational people like all of us in this room. Do they want to commit suicide? I would guess not. So what we have to do is talk with them now and say to them we want to be their friends," the former US president said.

"The United States must let Iran know that we want to give them fuel and everything they need for a non-military nuclear program. Twenty-five years ago we cut off trading with Iran. We've got to resume trading to show Iran we are friends."

Carter also criticized President George Bush, saying it was a "serious mistake and terrible departure" from the actions of previous US presidents not to engage with countries with which they differed.
This follows Jimmy's earlier shocking remarks on Israel's nuclear progam and his comments that the US had perpetrated destruction on Iraq.
Jimmy Carter is a huge Barack Obama fan.

Hah!... Doug Ross put together the Jimmy Carter threat level advisory system.

Jimmy Carter was ineffectual in dealing with Iran when he was president.
    Age hasn't improved him.

That plan of his worked so well where North Korea was concerned. Just give them fuel and reactors, they won't use it for weaponry, right?

Damn fool can't even learn from his mistakes.

  4. Carter wants us to give nuclear technology and FUEL to the same unrepentant nutjobs who helped end his failed Presidency and made him look stupid?

He has been an appeaser since day one, and now demands ANOTHER phony cease-fire with MORE concessions to the death cult (that's islam, to you carter and obamster fans out there).

  6. "The United States must let Iran know that we want to give them fuel and everything they need for a non-military nuclear program."

This approach was offered over a year ago by the Russians at the urging of the US. The Iranians rejected it. Why? Because they want to continue their weapons program.

No amount of direct talking will solve the issue. The atmosphere between the US and Iran has been totally poisoned since the Carter years. We were and still are the Great Satan, their greatest enemy. As in a bitter divorce you speak through intermediaries. We have tried this through the EU and the Russians to no avail.

Carter forgets his lack of success in negotiating the hostage release. Did he have face to face contact with Khomeini? No. When he faced abject failure, he launched a poorly planned and unrehearsed raid to rescue the hostages. It failed when a C-130 plowed into a Marine helicopter destroying both. It failed because it was a politically correct raid, a little USAF (C-130), a little Army (Delta Force), a little Navy (helos were carrier launched) and a little Marines (helos). These units hadn't worked with each other nor did they rehearse.

His relations with Iran were so soured they wouldn't release the hostages on his watch. Not until the moment Reagan was inaugurated did things start moving.

Now he lectures Bush on negotiating with Iran. The people spoke in November 1980 and found him a failure.

  7. Carter negotiated the same sort of deal with NKorea, one which they said that they took advantage of to build nukes.

So Carter is either stupid, or WANTS Iran to have nukes.

So when can we charge Carter with providing aid and comfort to the enemy?

  8. Jimmy Carter is criminally insane, and the only person who makes him look stupid is himself because he is just that, 'stupid'.

Welcome to an Obama Presidency mirroring Carter's thoughts and desires. Obama is so convinced of his own intellect and superiority of insight that we will see "change" like this time after time. I shudder to think where this will all lead.

Actually, Corky, the helos were Navy MH-53s but with Marine pilots. I'm sure somebody had a really good reason for pilots in unfamiliar aircraft to fly a low level night mission.

  12. "made him look stupid?" No. He's willfully, obdurately ignorant. He doesn't want any facts or evidence or knowledge that would demonstrate that he's *ever* been wrong about anything.

Carter has probably been clinically insane since his chosen opponent, Ronald Reagan, beat him like a borrowed mule. He's never forgiven the ignorant, evil American public, and he wants them to suffer.

I mean, it's not like anything he does or says will affect his life one iota, right?

He can't shuffle off this mortal coil soon enough for me.

I despise the man, his psuedo-Christian posturings, and all he stands for.

Actually, Corky, a Navy Sea Stallion minesweeper, with Marine pilots, was moving out of the way when its rotors hit the Air Force C-130 Hercules which was parked and waiting for the helo to move so it could take off. BTW, the mission had already been aborted prior to the crash, not that you care about factual accuracy.

  14. It's my opinion that Carter is suffering from senile dementia.

BTW Anon.@7:59, in your rush to launch your ad hominem attack did you happen to come across any facts on why the mission had been scrubbed or what training had been done by the unit as a whole? Also can you delineate the difference between Navy CH-53's and Marine Corps CH-53's?

Jimmy Carter has never forgiven the American people for rejecting him in November 1980. He really hates us and will do anything to get even.

We cut off trade with Iran because they took our guys hostage, no thanks to you, you schmuck!

I agree with amiexpat; Jimmy Carter is both stupid and hates Israel.

But on the point of the botched/aborted/all FUBAR effort to rescue the hostages. It's pretty clear that when a Republican President has something bad happen on his watch--it's all his fault.

Details of the foulup aside, same rule should apply when a Democrat peanut farmer has someone screw the pooch on his watch--he gets the blame.

I have my doubts as to whether the rescue effort would have worked had everything gone well. Everything I've read suggests that it was a pretty desparate effort. And then the President should take double blame for authorizing the desparate effort in the first place. What possessed the little twerp to give the greenlight in the first place?
