Democrats told America today in their radio address-- Pass our massive boondoggle or face a global warming war!
Talk about fearmongering?
We all know how Democrats are at war.
The Democrats chose wisely when they picked Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to give this week's address. She's one of the few nuts who could read the script without laughing.
Enewspf reported:
"Good morning. I'm Senator Barbara Boxer from California and Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee. Next week, the Senate will begin debate on one of the most important issues of our time -- global warming. The Lieberman-Warner Global Warming Legislation will be brought to the Senate floor this week.
"Senators have come together across party lines to write a law that will not only enable us to avoid the ravages of unchecked global warming, but will create millions of new jobs and put us on the path to energy independence. Other benefits of our legislation will be cleaner air, energy efficiency, relief for consumers and the alternative energy choices that American families deserve. And, by acting wisely, America will regain the leadership we have lost these past seven years.
"There are some in the Senate who insist that global warming is nothing more than science fiction. These are the same kind of voices who said that the world was flat, cigarettes were safe and cars didn't need airbags - long after the rest of us knew the truth.
"The fact is that the overwhelming majority of scientists say that the earth is in peril if we don't act now. They've told us clearly that more than 40 percent of God's creatures could face extinction if we don't act now. They've told us of more intense weather events if we don't act now. Health experts have told us that infectious diseases will increase due to warmer waters. And military leaders have told us that unchecked global warming will lead to severe conflict and war as droughts, floods and rising sea levels create huge numbers of desperate refugees.
"I hope you will help us convince the negative voices that we must act now to avert these dangers. Tell the Bush administration to help us, not fight us. Tell your Senators that action now will have positive results for our families and our nation. Tell those skeptics who say 'wait for China and India to act' that the America we know and love doesn't hide from a challenge and wait for others to lead.
"Right now, many of our states, including my home state, are leading. They have the will. Our mayors are leading. They have the will. Religious leaders have urged us to act now as well. They reminded me of a wonderful quote that motivates me to work as hard as I can for as long as it takes to responsibly address global warming. These words stay with me: 'When God created the first man, he took him around to all the trees in the Garden of Eden and said to him "see my handiwork, how beautiful and choice they are. Be careful not to ruin and destroy my world, for if you do ruin it, there is no one to repair it after you."'
"I truly hope that you will support our efforts on the Senate floor. Please join our fight, and thanks for listening." Source: http://www.barbaraboxer.com
Dr. Arthur Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine announced last week that more than 31,000 scientists had signed a petition rejecting the theory of human-caused global warming.
Once in a while I forget how liberal Sen. Leiberman is. Thanks for reminding me! Let's pray his bill fails. God bless! Padre Steve
ReplyDeleteActually, these are the same people who told us (and some who continue to tell us) that margarine and vegetable shortenings (hydrogenated transfats) were better for us.
ReplyDeleteThey were wrong and millions have died.
Stupidity should be taxed!
ReplyDeleteJoanne, stupidity should be illegal. All those guilty of it should be deported to prison camps on Greenland. Then they can show us that global warming exists... if they manage to survive long enough in the COLD weather up there.
ReplyDeleteI choose war then.
ReplyDelete"Honestly, how did these loons ever get elected into the majority?"...
ReplyDeleteThree words explains the abysmal ignorance of the modern voter: Government Run Madrassas
Publically funded baby sitting facilities foisting off fairy tales as education needs to be stopped...
I am so sad that our elite elected officials have decided to cripple America with policies based on non-proven scientific theories. Meanwhile they grill the big oil executives on the high price of oil while the cost of a college education continues to sky rocket. They continue to deny that there is progress in Iraq, no matter the cost. Our food prices are going up thanks to the subsidization of corn for ethanol, another product of the failed policies to combat the non-issue of global warming.
ReplyDeleteThese people, all politicians that pander to their base instead of working to solve the problems we face are traitors. The fools that vote for them are to blame as they do not investigate the true meaning or results of their politician's legislation.
Well we can't place all the blame just on Democrats when so many moderates and independents fell for the stupid as well; hence McCain.
ReplyDeleteNow whose brilliant idea was it to encourage Greenie environmentalism like 'a billion mercury bulbs in America' campaign? Oh right, the Independent Instapundit icon Glenn Reynolds.
Since the Independents went along for the ride all this Greenie environmentalist crap is being institutionalized and there is nothing we can do to stop it.
.
Hey Glowball warming is real! How else do you get your vitamin D? I personally hope that it goes on forever. Even with all the unprogrammed variables factored in.
ReplyDeleteI, myself, praise Senator Boxer for her insightfulness. It isn't easy predicting the future and yet, here she is, in full-prophesy mode.
ReplyDeleteSome questions come to mind, though. If I am to embrace this Brave New World, what is it, exactly, that I'm supposed to do?
How is it that I should "Change!"? How will this "Change!" affect the way in which green peas get to my local supermarket? What jobs will be created by this new system of getting green peas to my local supermarket?
There are times I like wearing white, long-sleeved shirts. What changes need to take place to assure me that those white, long-sleeved shirts of the future will be both compatible with the environmental requirements of the Brave New World (Change!) and the requirements that they be available for purchase in my local haberdashery? What steps in the manufacturing process will represent this "Change!"?
Must I change(!) my sleeping patterns? My meals? My daily shower?
And how can I be sure that I have changed(!) and more importantly, that my neighbors have changed(!)? After all, if I change(!) and my neighbors don't (Change!), how effective will my embrace of change(!) be?
Most importantly, what if it turns out that I become a victim of Change! What steps are the federal government willing to take to compensate me for my victimhood?
Mrs. Boxer must know that I want to see an end to racism, war and other bad things. Just show me, Mrs. Boxer, how these things will change(!) as a result of this bill and I will be your biggest advocate.
Failing that, I'm afraid it's just another attempt to legislate Change! without really defining what it is you intend to have occur. Can I depend upon green peas still being available in my local supermarket under your plan?
Stupidity should be painful. Immediately painful, so the stupid can make the connection.
ReplyDeleteBoxer's people are also the same people that told us using DDT was a sin and caused milllions to die (and more millions to suffer for the rest of their lives) of malaria.
They're also the same bunch that fought public health attempts to stop the spread of AIDS in the 1980s.
And the same people that caused artificial sweeteners to be banned for years because rats fed the equivalent of boxcar loads occasionally got cancer. And the same ones who go nuts over single cases of Mad Cow Disease because of a very tenuous possible relationship to a human disease. And the same ones who . . . well, insert scientific insanity of choice here.
As for compact fluorescents, the mercury damage potential from those is also wildly overstated.
Considering that less US Military members die during a republican administration at war vs. a democrat adminsistration at peace (just compare the 8 years of clinton to the GW years thus far)
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll have to choose war.
I support the troops and hate the fact that when democrats control the white house so many of them die.
"As for compact fluorescents, the mercury damage potential from those is also wildly overstated."
ReplyDeleteSure mercury is only bad when it is in fish, yet no big deal in the home however what will be said when billions of these bulbs are in the landfills.
I highly doubt people will get into their cars to drive endless miles to properly dispose of the bulbs, the price of gas will be too costly.
Further the cost to dispose of these 'energy-saving' bulbs paid for by the government and managed by the eco-stazi will negate any real savings the user may think they have achieved.
It doesn't matter in any case since all other bulbs will soon be BANNED.
It's the STUPID alternatives that bug me.
Seriously, if these bulbs are so great why the need to BAN all other bulbs?
