I Blame Bush-- Terror Attacks Down 40% Since 2001

It's all Bush's fault.
Terror attacks are down 40% since 2001.

Andrew Bolt and The Canadian Press reported this recent study:

A group of researchers from Simon Fraser University says global terrorism is on the decline, despite previous data and public perceptions that suggest otherwise.

The university's Human Security Report Project says fatalities from terrorist attacks around the world have, in fact, decreased by 40 per cent since 2001.
But... Sadly, there are those who believe that even with Saddam Hussein and the Taliban gone that America is somehow less safe today than before 9-11.

And... Total global terror attacks were down 40% late last year due to the 55% decrease in attacks in Iraq.
Reuters reported:

A study released on Wednesday reports a decline in fatal attacks of terrorism worldwide and says U.S. think-tank data showing sharp increases were distorted due to the inclusion of killings in Iraq.

"Even if the Iraq 'terrorism' data are included, there has still been a substantial decline in the global terrorism toll," said the 2007 Human Security Brief, an annual report funded by the governments of Canada, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and Britain.

For example, global terrorism fatalities declined by 40 percent between July and September 2007, driven by a 55 percent decline in the "terrorism" death toll in Iraq after the so-called surge of new U.S. troops and a cease-fire by the Shi'ite militant Mehdi Army, the brief said.

  3. I blame Bush, too. He does not get the credit he deserves for preventing more attacks. God bless him!

  4. Bush has done his job so well that we feel too safe and secure, too comfortable. That will change after the next election, because the bad guys will want to test the new president to see if he's got Bush's gonads. He won't.

I blame our all volunteer soldiers!

How dare they free people from tyrants!

    ---

While Obama drives around our country in an SUVs, flying in jets, living in a house from generous "loans" from Syrians who hate us, "spiritually" advised by Hamas loving preacher that hates us, mentored at childhood by a Communist who hates us. Making "preperations" to stain us with his mark so he may train us in the ways of Marx and Khomeinist.

    ---

Don't they know? They need to come back home. To fight the enemy here! ;-) Nah, nah, nah... we got their backs. Pencil neck communist lawyers trained in ivy league schools are a 100 rubles a dozen.

    ---

How dare our soldiers bring True Hope abroad, True Liberty abroad, True Freedom abroad to the oppressed, the downtrodden, the malnourished, the tortured of Iraq and Afghanistan!

    True Hope in Basrah

Better than Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Superman, Batman and Homer Simpson. They didn't make up some hollwood propaganda film or cartoon ideology saying "yes we can."

They did what Obama-ites will never do! They defeated tyranny in two countries and now bring True Hope to 50 million!

Calling Ben Stein... Time to show the truth about our heroes, just in time for November.

While leftist schmucks rant and follow their false messiah, with empty words of "yes I can." Brave men and women DO every single day! Sweatin, toiling, wounded and some paid the highest sacrifice for others to be set free! They do free people. They do lift others up higher. They do inspire. They do protect the weak from the evil. They do give a helping hand. They do give their hearts daily.

And they Do give a damn about America and Hope more than some hollywood cretins that read scripts for a living in a 3 minute video.

    Love em! Love em!

Children for the first time in their lives getting healthy drinking water. Some live now that would die. Many will not have polio because our soldiers DO every day what the whiners only play movies about.

  9. Simon Fraser University has as far left leanings as a university can have, so their findings in favour of Bush and his tactics are significant.

For what it's worth, the study cites a 40% in fatalities from attacks, not a 40% decline in attacks.

I haven't been able to find a link to the actual study, to see how it compares to 2000 or 2002. 2001 was, I believe, a high mark for terrorism fatalities due to 9/11, at least by the methodology Mack is using.

This is also an interesting story in which Andrew Mack attributes the decline in worldwide political violence to the UN's efforts (not Bush's).

I realize that you guys are probably pretty daft at this website, but you should probably know anyway that neither Saddam Hussein, nor the Taliban are terrorist groups. I understand that you folks like to paint everyone in the Middle East with the same brush, and are probably partly responsible for attacks on Sikhs in the States (a turbin-wearing non-muslim group). Nonetheless, so more fine-grained categories are in order here.

oh.. so because Saddam only financed, harbored & trained terrorists, not to mention facilitating the slaughtering, torturing & maiming of millions of his own people in the most atrocious ways.. that does not make him a terrorist, okay..

Oh really? Is that the new lunatic fringe argument? Saddam and the Taliban were not terrorist groups? Let's take a peak into what Webster's has to say about that. Better yet, how about we go ask the Kurds or former Iraqi soccer players, or the women wearing Burkas, or better yet the women who dared to not wear Burkas. Oh nevermind, those women are DEAD, by the non-terrorist group the Taliban. Moron.

Terrorism: 1 "The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons."

2 "the systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve political ends"

3 "a method of government or of resisting government involving domination or coercion by various forms of intimidation, as bombing or kidnapping."

    Perfect response. Thanks.
