Breaking: Hillary Will Hold Delegates Until the DNC Convention!

She Ain't Giving Them Up & She Ain't Going Away

Bummer for Bambi... Mary Boergers, a former Maryland State Senator and a pledged Clinton delegate, dispelled the rumors that Hillary Clinton had released her delegates to Barack Obama, via No Quarters and Rezko Watch:

I was on that conference call and there was nothing in Hillary’s comments to indicate that she was releasing her delegates and urging them to vote for Obama on the first vote in Denver. In fact what Harold Ikes said was that the campaign would like to keep Hillary’s delegates together so that she can more effectively fight for issues like universal health care to make sure it is included in the party platform.

This seems like deliberate misinformation. (Sound familiar!)

One of the super delegates who was in London in fact complained about the strong arm pressure from the Obama campaign to immediately (last Friday before Hillary’s speech) switch their vote to Obama.

So to me the strategy is clear. The Obama folks want to try and prevent us from nominating Hillary at the convention and voting for her at the convention. We need to STOP this. Historically losing candidates always have their names put into nomination, give a great speech and then there is a roll call vote. The presumptive nominee gets the majority and then there may be a call to make it unanimous.

We need to make sure that people are aware of this procedure. Once again the Obama people are trying to change the rule of the game, pretending that they were always the rules in order to push Hillary aside. We must keep them from succeeding.
Liberal Hillary supporter Taylor Marsh misreported on Tuesday that Hillary had released her delegates to Obama.

If you are wondering why the Hillary supporters are so upset--
Go to PUMA PAC's "1,000 Reasons Puma Democrats Are Protesting the 2008 Presidential Election"

This PAC was setup so that disgruntled Hillary supporters could vent on why they are protesting the DNC and the DNC convention in August.

  1. She did not concede nor did she endorse Obama. Why should she give up her delegates, especially when she is in a position of advantage.

    I told you, GP.

Obama will not get the nomination.

  2. BTW GP, I was sorta thinking of switching snacks. I'm sorta popcorned out atm.

"Obama will not get the nomination"

Do you think, though, Nahanni that there is any way they can engineer such a scenario without really angering the nutcase base (think college kids in Che T-shirts, activist hippies who shop at Whole Foods and write "tickets" for SUV drivers) and alienating Black voters? If I were a DNC member, I wouldn't worry much about the nuts, but I would be mightily concerned about the 95% lockdown they have enjoyed with Black voters.

I also must say, I am not sure I would blame Black voters if they felt that Obama were cheated out of the nomination in some way. Ethnic pride has always played a part in American politics, for better or worse, and it can be a powerful motivator.

  5. Only if I had said fruit and nut mix...

Mixed nuts are like an "affirmative action" of nuts in one bowl. Of course there are always more peanuts then any other nut in most mixes, but in mine they will be passed over for other nuts with lower taste test scores so they will all be in equal amounts.

    Yes. Hide and watch.

By the time all is said and done the only ones who will still have their knickers in a twist are the ones who always have their knickers in a twist.

  7. I think Sen. Clinton is keeping her delegates for two reasons: 1) to put pressure on Sen. Obama and the Party and 2) to remain on deck in hopes that Sen. Obama will say something so stupid and/or have enough sleazy associates come out that the superdelegates switch (back) to her because they conclude he's unelectable.

  8. It was clear when she gave the speech that she wasn't giving up her delegates. Thus her saying she was "suspending" her campaign, not ending it or conceding.

It's pretty obvious she struck a deal with Obama, and that to collect she has to hold on to her leverage, because she can't trust Obama. (Fair enough--he can't trust her either.)

I've been speculating on the shape of that inevitable deal for weeks, since long before Obama sealed the nomination. So far I see no reason to alter my predictions.

  11. tully,

Hillary is playing to win, hun. That is the very simple fact that all of you are missing. Well, that and the fact that it is she and not Obama who has the advantage.

Obama already offered her the VP slot or any other one that she would want and she essentially told him in so many words to go to hell.

  12. Nahanni,

Just how do you figure that Barak doesn't get the nomination? He's already telling the rest of the party what to do. He's got more than enough delegates.

Short of Barak being caught with a dead girl or a live boy, what takes the nomination away from him? Hilary is a mean sleasy bitch, but she just came up way short in the numbers.

  13. bobn,

Just how do you figure that Barak doesn't get the nomination?

Neither one of them has enough pledged delegates to win. Superdelegates are not the same thing.

He's already telling the rest of the party what to do.

Sure he is. Have you never heard of the old adage "It is the small dog that barks the most"? Small dogs are very insecure, so they bark alot to try to give the impression that they are big and bad.

He's got more than enough delegates.

No he doesn't. Let me guess, you really have never been to an actual convention nor worked for a political party or campaign. You are probably also not old enough to remember when conventions were an exercise in democracy and not coronations and propaganda events. That would explain why you are buying the MSM BS.

Short of Barak being caught with a dead girl or a live boy, what takes the nomination away from him?

Obama has steamer trunks chock full of dirty laundry, honey. Stuff that makes "Rev." Wright look like Mr. Rogers.

Also, here is your homework lesson for the day. Learn what a "credential fight" is.

Hilary is a mean sleasy bitch, but she just came up way short in the numbers.

Honey, Barak Obama has a PhD in sleazy from the "Ivy League" of political sleaze-the Chicago Democratic party machine.

As to her being "way short on numbers" in 1980 Teddy Kennedy pushed a floor fight in the convention with far fewer delegates then Hillary has. I will give you just a hint here, hun. I can see about 200 delegates in a credential fight, possibly more.

Now I understand you are just trying to protect the Obamamessiah like a good little Obamaniac but you children just do not understand politics and how political parties operate, especially the Democratic party. You and your messiah are about to get schooled in Politics 101.

  14. Correction to the above post...

This sentence I can see about 200 delegates in a credential fight, possibly more.

    Should read...

I can see Obama losing about 200 delegates in a credential fight, possibly more.

  15. tully, Hillary is playing to win, hun. That is the very simple fact that all of you are missing.

I'm not missing it at all, I've been shouting it from the rooftops for freakin' MONTHS.

What I'm NOT falling for is the idea that the only prize available is the nomination. And it's only the Big Prize if the nominee wins the election. Let me put it another way. Who "won" the 2004 DNC? John Kerry, the nominee, lost the race and was diminished even within the Senate. Howard Dean got control of the party for four years.

Get the idea? It's not all about the nomination. It's also about power within the party that gets to split up the goodies from control of both House and Seante for the next four years.
