China Demolishes Mosque For Not Supporting Olympics

Chinese officials demolished a mosque in western China because it would not put up signs in support of the Beijing Olympics.
The torching of the Beijing Olympic mascots can't be far off.

Obviously, the Chinese could care less about the reaction from radical Islamists over the demolition.
Reuters reported:

Chinese authorities in the restive far western region of Xinjiang have demolished a mosque for refusing to put up signs in support of this August's Beijing Olympics, an exiled group said on Monday.

The mosque was in Kalpin county near Aksu city in Xinjiang's rugged southwest, the World Uyghur Congress said.

The spokesman's office of the Xinjiang government said it had no immediate comment, while telephone calls to the county government went unanswered.

"China is forcing mosques in East Turkistan to publicize the Beijing Olympics to get the Uighur people to support the Games (but) this has been resisted by the Uighurs," World Uyghur Congress spokesman Dilxat Raxit said in an emailed statement.

Beijing says al Qaeda is working with militants in Xinjiang to use terror to establish an independent state called East Turkistan.

Oil-rich Xinjiang is home to 8 million Turkic-speaking Uighurs, many of whom resent the growing economic and cultural influence of the Han Chinese.

Dilxat Raxit added that the mosque, which had been renovated in 1998, was accused of illegally renovating the structure, carrying out illegal religious activities and illegally storing copies of the Muslim holy book the Koran.

"All the Korans in the mosque have been seized by the government and dozens of people detained," he said. "The detained Uighurs have been tortured."
The Chinese government has been cracking down on the Uighars for years.
It will be interesting to see if the radical Islamists react to this news from China.

    Communist Tyrants meet Islamic Tyrants.

May you both detroy each other with your lust for violent totalitarian domination.

I am not watching the Olympics this year to boycott both NBC/MSNBC and Chinese leaders.

I could care less about olympic sports while the oppression, murders, imprisonment, torture of innocent millions in China continues under Communist leadership.

This report about the mosque is no different what they do to millions of chinese christians, forcing them underground. Or into Communist approved churches above ground which are nothing more than government run indoctrination buildings.

  3. I suspect that AQ and friends would rather work quiet in Xinjiang to radicalize the people rather that risk alienating an anti-American power with a major terrorist attack, at least for the time being. But then the Olympics might represent too tempting a target for them to pass up. They are desperate to show the Islamic world that they can still project terror so the funds and support don't dry up any further.

i guess the deal is off..

    China's al-Qaeda

    nothing new..

[In the past, Beijing had always publicly downplayed the level of violence in Xinjiang and tried to manage it discretely through state-to-state negotiations with Turkey and Pakistan, the two countries training Uyghur freedom fighters. For the past decade, Beijing has sought to quietly lobby Pakistan's secret service (ISI) to exercise some control on Xinjiang's Islamic activists who it was fully aware had received training and funding from ISI.]

    Earth to Intelligence Agencies:

AQ is the militaristic wing of The Muslim Brotherhood..

    AQ is the "base"..

that means all other groups are extentions of AQ, in turn members of TMB, no matter where they are located or what they call themselves..

many nations appease AQ by paying the Dane-Geld..

SIMPLE AS THAT, GET A CLUE!!

  6. The Chinese do not care what the Islamofascists think.

They don't put up with their crap. They kill them.

Sometimes they will hold a public execution of them. Shoot them in the head, dig the bullet out and give it to their families as a reminder of what happens to Islamofascists in China.

And the first Gitmo guest to get his status overturned in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling is, that's right a member of the Uighers.

Besides the exiled group's word on why this mosque was demolished, do we have any independent verification?
There are many problems in this region for China including separatists and ethnic clashes however, I tend to take China's claims of terrorism with an air of caution, as they bandwagon their crackdown on students and others under the guise of the "war on terror," but I would also wait for verification that the mosque was destroyed because they refused to hang posters, from an independent source.

I was thinking of the Gitmo detainee "Asian Muslim"/AP that no government will agree to take off our hands. Same guy, I suppose. You'd think China would at least take him back and dispose with according to their own justice. As per the Olympics, that the official committee ever contemplated taking the games to Beijing amounts to their political confession. I fear for the athletes and guests who go, particularly Americans. The Chinese government and their manic members therein have no bounds on perfected dirty tricks that leave no trace. I would stay far away from Beijing Olympics.
