I Suppose This Advice From Obama No Longer Applies
"Let me say this about the Democratic Party. I think that we can take a lesson from the Republicans in the sense that we seem to be continually looking for the next Messiah. I think that’s a bad habit."
Legitimately, Obama as an Easter Island moai reflects a mixed race (white/polynesian, Jacob Roggeveen, 1792) as well as cannibalism (William J. Thompson, 1891, US Navy).
Asinus asinum fricat. The donkey scratches the donkey. Stupid and conceited people flatter each other about qualities they do not possess.
Easter Islanders (Rapa Nui) spent decades building those stone gods to be worshipped, to provide, to show them the true path.
When the statues failed to provide for their needs, when the path that they showed the Islanders led to a dead end, when they failed to live up to the worship offered unto them....
The islanders went stark raving mad and toppled them all in an orgy of self-destruction and horror.

When your entire political premise is based on emotions, as it the case with a sizeable chunk of the democrat party, the yearning for a political messiah is unavoidable.
They've been looking for another JFK for 40 years now. Ironically enough, it isn't the policy positions of JFK that they yearn for, but for the romantic camelot image so many hold onto.
