Iraqis Publish More Proof Of Saddam Links To Al-Qaeda Leadership

The Iraqi newspaper Kurdistani Nwe published a letter today on the front page from Saddam Hussein requesting a meeting with Al-Qaeda second in command Ayman Al-Zawahiri:

The letter was posted today on the MEMRI blog:

MEMRI reported on this letter from 2002:

The Kurdish daily Kurdistani Nwe has published a 2002 letter from the Iraqi presidency that it says proves that there was cooperation between the regime of Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda.

The letter, which appeared on the paper's front page, was published by the intelligence apparatus of the Iraqi presidency and discussed an intention to meet with Ayman Al-Zawahiri in order to examine a plan drawn up by the Iraqi presidency to carry out a "revenge operation" in Saudi Arabia.

A letter published in the Kurdish news shows that Iraqi tyrant Saddam Hussein (right) reached out to Al-Qaeda's number two man Ayman Al-Zawahiri (left). Saddam wanted a meeting to discuss a revenge operation he was planning in Saudi Arabia.

Remember this the next time you see a mainstream media report claiming there was no links between Saddam and Al-Qaeda.

We know Saddam had contact with al qaeda. What is in question is how much cooperation existed between them.
In any case, to most of us, it no longer makes a difference. What is done is done. The only thing that matters is the situation on the ground. Finish up, let's leave Iraq a better place and then we'll bring our heroes home.

Since 2003 the terrorist appeaser's mantra has been Bush lied. Backed by the full force of the MSM that has worked until facts start to emerge. Now the mantra is:
"We know Saddam had contact with al qaeda. What is in question is how much cooperation existed between them."
    Hm, the message: MoveOn.

Sorry Frank. I would like to tell you THAT is now the mantra of the MSM but I don't even think they have come that far. Their avoidance of the issue, however, speaks volumes.
Perhaps what I should have said is I always knew there was contact between Saddam and Al Qaeda and for ME, it was never an issue. Same way with weapons of mass destruction. The democrats and the MSM has made quite a case that Saddam didn't have stock piles but if you actually bothered to read the IAEA report, you would find he maintained the ability to restart his program at any time. It's like having a gun and breaking it down to various pieces and hiding them all over your house. When the police come, you tell them, quite honestly, you don't have a gun but when they leave, it takes you about 1/2 hour to put the pieces back together and viola! You have a gun again.
In any case, I didn't make the decision to invade Iraq however for me, the debate ended when we put boots on the ground and men in harm's way. From then on in, it;s figure out a way to be successful for the Iraqi people, the American people and the stability of the region.
Whether we should have done it, I'll leave for historical debate in the future.

    Tass,

I agree with you that once we had boots on the ground, the debate had to turn to "what's next?" However, there are still people who are still stuck on the old theme, and now we have more rebuttal evidence. This is news, it should make a difference to some people, provided it is disseminated, and I am sending the link to my (all Democratic) congressmen.

  6. Saddam lied? Why would he have done that? Next we will find out he really did have poison gas and other WMDs. Maybe those Kurds in the pictures weren't just sleeping.

Can someone provide a good detailed translation of this document? Including identification of the sender and the recipient, what all the seals mean, etc.

Is it really a smoking gun? The lack of exact translation allows critics to pooh-pooh it like a UFO.

MEMRI has been a fantastic source of info. They've expanded to include Pashto as well from Afghanistan regions.

I followed the english rabbit to PUKMedia from the Kurdish website.

They have some good enlgish links on all of Saddam's ethnic cleansing of Kurds.

And then they also had this in English headlines:

    This Day in History:

"Today is Saturday, June 21, the 173rd day of 2008. There are 193 days left in the year. Today's Highlight in History: On June 21, 1788, the United States Constitution went into effect as New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify it."

America declared war in 1776. It took 12 years to ratify a Constitution. This is always a good reminder to those that seek a Hollywood Rambo solution to the worlds problems. It takes time to build a new nation upon Rule of Law and a Free Republic with peoples rights to vote as a Representative government.

No Translation of Saddam's letter, but Here is the Kurdish english media link...

    Saddam Genocide bottom right

    Good luck with that Valerie.
It's like talking to 5 year olds who have their hands over their ears and are humming at the top of their voices to drown you out.
They have no intention of acknowledging the truth.

    Cherry-picking Intelligence

    excerpt (page 42)..

[B. The Terror "Business" Model of Saddam Hussein

Saddam's interest in, and support for, non-Iraqi non-state actors was spread across a wide variety of revolutionary, liberation, nationalist, and Islamic terrorist organizations.

For years, Saddam maintained training camps for foreign "fighters" drawn from these diverse groups. In some cases, particularly for Palestinians, Saddam was also a strong financial supporter. Saddam supported groups that either associated directly with al Qaeda (such as the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, led at one time by bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri) or that generally shared al Qaeda's stated goals and objectives. 97]

  14. Imagine that!

Libtards (a.k.a. the MSM) and Dems caught lying again...

In 2003 Stephen Hayes penned the following: Saddam's al Qaeda Connection in the Weekly Standard...

A year and half earlier Jeffrey Goldberg penned the following in the New Yorker: The Great Terror
In northern Iraq, there is new evidence of Saddam Hussein’s genocidal war on the Kurds—and of his possible ties to Al Qaeda

What do you bet Walter Pincus and Dana Milbank will continue to bleat their drivel until its time for them to take a dirt nap?
