The last of the surge brigades readies to return home after their very successful tour of duty in Iraq.

The last of the five Army brigades to deploy with the “troop surge” in Iraq will return in July after a 13-month deployment, during which soldiers detained more than 800 terrorist suspects and helped foster Iraqi self-governance.Meanwhile... The 3rd Infantry Division’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team has operated in the Arab Jabour area of southeastern Baghdad, where the number of attacks plummeted from about 30 a week when they arrived in May 2007 to about one a week now.
“All in all, it's been a very successful operation for us,” Army Col. Terry Ferrell, 2nd Brigade Combat Team commander, told reporters at the Pentagon today via video teleconference from Forward Operating Base Kalsu, in Baghdad.
President Bush announced the temporary 33,000-troop surge in January 2007 to tamp down violence in Iraq and help prepare Iraq’s national security forces to maintain security. The first surge brigade went home in March, and the final redeployment next month will reduce the number of brigades in Iraq to 15.

Seriously, you guys are so cute when they play the race card. That strategy is really doing well for you guys.
I sent my congressman an email saying that we should get all five of the surge brigades together and have a ticker-tape victory parade for them and that the ball should get rolling on this idea before Congress adjourns for its August break. Also that we should do it for every 4 or 5 brigades that come back from Iraq or Afghanistan. Maybe if more people wrote their congressman requesting something like this, it would get done. Who's with me?

ReplyDeleteUmmm... right, Dave. Sure. And here in NYC we've lost the freedom to.. to do what, exactly? You're gonna bring up that "they're listening to my phone calls" bogus fear mongering? Maybe we've lost the freedom to take a knife onto an airplane? There's some irony, considering which sector of the body politic has been so hostile to the carrying of weapons. The only freedom in real danger of being lost right now is the freedom to speak out against the slow tyranny of progressivism, as the definition of Hate Speech expands by degrees into Whatever We Don't Like Speech. We have a generation of college students being taught (by the Left) they have a right not to be offended by anything. You're just squirming as you wait for the day when the Fairness Doctrine prevents people from making points you don't agree with, aren't you?

ReplyDeleteAnd you, Da Man, should know better: You look to be of East Asian descent in your picture, which means that the Left, hung up as they are over DNA, test scores, and proper Racial Representation in the classroom, has declared you White. Which means yes, you are permitted to have Freedom. But on the down side, the Ivy League has gone even further and declared you Double-White. Your children, on account of their skin color and epicanthic fold on the eyelid, will have to get even HIGHER scores to get into Princeton than the merely White! Thank Progressivism for that one.
My advice: change your name and tell them you are Aleutian. That will put you back into the Oppressed category, easy in for your kids into any top university.
