Some 500 members of Germany's neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD) rally trough the streets of the north-eastern town of Rostock in May 2006.
The neo-Nazis made gains in the German elections held on Sunday.
The Local reported:
The neo-Nazi NPD party has representatives in every county council in the eastern German state of Saxony after it increased its share of the vote in municipal elections on Sunday.Hat Tip Cindy
The far-right extremist party earned between three and six seats in every council and garnered a total of 5.1 percent of the vote, the state statistics office in Kamenz reported on Monday. The NPD improved considerably from the last municipal county elections in 2004, when the extremists didn't yet have seats in the state legislature. That year they won just 0.9 percent of the vote in municipal elections but took 9.2 percent in a vote for the state parliament.
The known neo-Nazi stronghold Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna, a town of only 1,600, gave the NPD the biggest share of the county council seats. There the extremists were the second most-popular party with 25.2 percent of the vote.
The NPD's success stole the spotlight from Angela Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats (CDU), which had a clear lead in the municipal elections with 39.5 percent of the vote. The hard-line socialist party The Left earned 18.7 percent, while the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) came in at just 11.5 percent.
"The NPD has managed to cultivate a group of core voters," head of the anti-extremist initiative group Aktion Zivilcourage in Pirna, Sebastian Reißig, told news agency DDP on Monday. "It's become a party worthy of voting for not just a few people."
Not surprising. There is an old adage that goes "The dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States and yet lands only in Europe."
ReplyDeleteI would also expect the same thing to start occuring in France and the UK soon, too. You want to see the future in Europe? Look at Bosnia in 1994. If the Islamists were smart they would get out of Europe now, while they still can.
Europeans are fed up with the policies and taxes of the LLL moonbat "68'ers" that have been in power for decades. Those who can have already voted with their feet, emmigration by native Germans, Belgians, Dutch, Swedes and Brits have been at numbers last seen in the 19th century. The ones who are left are finally saying they have had enough of the LLL's, their Islamist allies and their policies. These are the same policies, by the way, that the Democrats and the Obamaniacs would love to put inot the place here.
Nope, the NPD isn't a real threat. The former SED is. NPD@ about 6% in Eastern Germany and SED @ aboth 15-20% there. In the west of Germany the NPD plays no significance except for beeing the needed enemy by the socialists.
ReplyDeleteIf they're actually Nazi's, then they're far left.
ReplyDeleteIf they're being called Nazi's because they're racist, then it doesn't have anything to do with left/right politics.
The Nazi's were further left then modern day democrats. You couldn't say the democrats as a whole are right wing.
The Nazi's are not and were not right wingers.
Biggest lie of the 20th and now the 21st century.

ReplyDeleteExactly!
The gains by the former-SED-now-Die-Linke are even bigger. Nobody says anything about those. Honestly? This is Germany and the "culture of collective guilt". Everything even remotely nazi is EVIL. Everything even remotely Stalin or Mao is GOOD. Typical.
ReplyDeleteAnd the success of the NPD shouldn't surprise. The CDU/CSU is betraying the German people. The SPD is betraying the German people. And the Green party (most of their leaders are 68er moonbats) is totally anti-German (they even moan about German soccer fans showing the German flag, because anything even remotely close to patriotism is... yes, you guessed right... EVIL).
Also, calling them "neo nazis" isn't really right. If they were neo nazis, they would be banned. There are laws against neo nazis in Germany and Austria (but no laws agaisnt neo communists, strange, no?)
