Real Clear Politics Democratic Primary Delegate Totals
After appointing their nominee, this week Senator Bill Nelson of Florida introduced legislation to abolish the Electoral College.
The Hill reported:
Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) introduced a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College on Friday, less than a week after the Democrats settled on how to handle delegates from Florida at their national convention.Ann Coulter wrote more on this Democratc primary phenomena.
Its time for Congress to really give Americans the power of one-person, one-vote, instead of the political machinery selecting candidates and electing our president, Nelson said in a release announcing the amendment.
Nelson had announced he would offer the legislation in an address to his states senate in March.
Nelson said his principal argument for making the change is that the Electoral College permits a candidate with fewer votes nationally to win the presidency by capturing narrow victories in big states. In 2000, then-Vice President Al Gore won the popular votes but George W. Bush won the Electoral College.
Nelson cited that election along with this years contentious Democratic primary in Florida as reasons for his legislation. He sued the DNC last fall for initially refusing to recognize Floridas full delegation at the Democratic National Convention.

Obama was trained by the Saul Alinsky-founded Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in Chicago. Thus, the theory goes, the people will settle for nothing less than that status quo's complete collapse -- to be followed by the erection of an entirely new system upon its ruins. Toward that end, they will be apt to follow the lead of charismatic radical organizers who project an aura of confidence and vision, and who profess to clearly understand what types of societal "changes" are needed.
But Alinsky's brand of revolution was not characterized by dramatic, sweeping, overnight transformations of social institutions. As Richard Poe puts it, "Alinsky viewed revolution as a slow, patient process. The trick was to penetrate existing institutions such as churches, unions and political parties." Alinsky advised organizers and their disciples to quietly, subtly gain influence within the decision-making ranks of these institutions, and to introduce changes from that platform.
One of Obama's early mentors in the Alinsky method, Mike Kruglik, would later say the following about Obama:
"He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better."
For several years, Obama himself taught
workshops on the Alinsky method.
Beginning in the mid-1980s, Obama worked with ACORN, a creation of the Alinsky network. ACORN was a grassroots political organization that grew out of George Wiley's National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), whose members in the late 1960s and early 70s had invaded welfare offices across the U.S. -- often violently -- bullying social workers and loudly demanding every penny to which the law "entitled" them.]

Of course the Dems want to marginalize us less populous states that tend to more Conservative,we know they are ignorant of our Constitution and the compromises made that keep the delicate balance of power needed to prevent a few populous state from dictating national policy.Next they will push for the abolishment of the Senate where all states have equality.
ReplyDeleteOn a personal note I think all Congresscritters should be forced to read the founding documents of the country including the federalist and anti-federalist papers and pass a familiarity test prior to being seated,propose that as an amendment I think Americans would overwhelmingly support it.
