"Whitey" Tape Has Legs?
Barack Obama answered questions about the "whitey" tape today.
Ben Smith has details:
Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday batted down rumors circulating on the Internet and mentioned on some cable news shows of the existence of a video of his wife using a derogatory term for white people, and criticized a reporter for asking him about the rumor, which has not a shred of evidence to support it.But, Obama did not deny that the "white folks greed run a world in need" quote was actually him:
“We have seen this before. There is dirt and lies that are circulated in e-mails and they pump them out long enough until finally you, a mainstream reporter, asks me about it,” Obama said to the McClatchy reporter during a press conference aboard his campaign plane. “That gives legs to the story. If somebody has evidence that myself or Michelle or anybody has said something inappropriate, let them do it.”
Asked whether he knew it not to be true, Obama said he had answered the question.
“Frankly, my hope is people don’t play this game,” Obama said. “It is a destructive aspect of our politics. Simply because something appears in an e-mail, that should lend it no more credence than if you heard it on the corner. Presumably the job of the press is to not to go around and spread scurrilous rumors like this until there is actually anything, an iota, of substance or evidence that would substantiate it.”
So was it even acceptable to ask the question?
Before Obama could answer, communications director Robert Gibbs interjected: “You just did.”
“That is my point,” Obama said. “I just think people have to think about it before they ask.”
That was something he heard in church, of course.
Could you imagine a Republican saying something like that about any other ethnic group?

"White folks greed runs a world in need"
ReplyDeleteWell...the rhyming worked for Jesse, didn't it?
"White folks greed runs a world in need"
ReplyDeleteIs Obama stating that because white folks have so much that they are taking away from the colored people in need? Is there a limit to how much can be produced on this earth? Are white people stopping people of color from producing all they need and more?
I wonder if Obama, being a man of color, believes he is white because he certainly has more than his share, even compared to the standards of any whitey in America.
Obama is such a hypocrite!
Basically, Obama did not answer the question. Instead of saying "no, there is no truth to the rumor" he, once again, dodged the question and was insulted that the question was even asked and tried to shame the person asking.
ReplyDeleteIf you will remember when the infidelity rumor about John McCain came out in the NYTs, McCain took to the podium and answered reporters questions to the point he had to ask "Are there any more questions?" before he left the stage.
So my guess is that the story does have legs. That is why Obama answered the way he did and tried to deflect blame on the asker of the question.
This is not the first time Obama has gotten testy with a reporter asking him a tough question. It happened just a couple of weeks ago.
The guy is so thinned skinned that if you hit him with a cotton ball he will bleed. But there is a reason for that thin skin; he has a lot to hide.
"White folks greed runs a world in need"...
ReplyDeleteAhhh, the clueless, whining libtard rant...
I'm guessing that this commentary by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. means nothing to these clowns:
Everything You Love You Owe to Capitalism
To The Point is proud to present its candidate for Best Bumper Sticker of 2008: O = ZERO
The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No résumé, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.
He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.
No, joanne, that's the audiobook version of Obama quoting someone else. You only have to read or listen to the book to realize that this YouTube clip gives the exact opposite impression that was conveyed by the book.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I hate nonanswers like the one Obama gave about the rumored whitey tape. If she said it, just admit it and move on, it's not like we'd be shocked that it's that she could say something like that at a certain time in a certain situation, but we can get past that, so I wish he'd just admit or deny.
This is a bullshit smear on emailers and bloggers:
ReplyDelete““We have seen this before. There is dirt and lies that are circulated in e-mails and they pump them out long enough until finally you, a mainstream reporter, asks me about it,” Obama said to the McClatchy reporter during a press conference aboard his campaign plane. “That gives legs to the story.”
This started at the Clinton campaign led by the ex CIA wackjob Johnson. Later to be picked up, when it was fading, by another Dem/Clinton operative Bob Beckel.
He should be fronted on this-the Clinton machine-rather than get away with the grand smear. It’s the vast right wing conspiracy in sheep’s clothing ala Obama–to be used in the future when advantageous.
It's Dan Rather asking if any "right wing bloggers" were on the Bush payroll.
Best bumper sticker so far.
ReplyDeleteB.O. STINKS.
On December 27, 2007, Raila Odinga, Obama’s cousin, lost the presidential election in Kenya.
ReplyDeleteObama and Odinga share the same Luo heritage and history and has made it possible for them to share the same spotlight at this defining moment in Kenyan and American histories about hope and fear.
Raila Odinga, who is Obama's first cousin, has, in his own words, a "close personal friendship" with Obama. When Obama went to Kenya in August of 2006, he was hosted by Raila and spoke in praise of him at several rallies in Nairobi. Obama’s bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila’s "stooge."
When Raila Odinga lost the presidential election to Mwai Kibaki, he claimed the vote was rigged, whereupon his tribal followers went on murderous rampages, such as in the town of Eldoret, where on New Years Day dozens of Christians were burned to death in a church set on fire. Throughout Kenya, hundreds of people have been politically murdered.
Islam had picked Raila to win.
The Evangelical Alliance of Kenya has posted on its website a photograph copy of a Memorandum of Understanding, dated and signed on August 29, 2007, between Raila Odinga and Shiekh Abdullah Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum of Kenya.
Here is a summary on the agreement which was signed:
* It pledges the support of Kenyan Moslems for Raila’s election. In return, as President of Kenya, Raila agrees to 14 actions, listed a) through n) on page two.
* Within 6 months re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Shariah as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions.
* Within one year facilitate the establishment of a Shariah court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters. [Note: everywhere in Kenya, not just in "Muslim declared regions."]
* Popularize Islam, the only true religion… by ordering every primary school in Kenya in the regions to conduct daily Madrassa classes.
* Impose a total ban on open-air gospel crusades by worshippers of the cross…
* Outlaw gospel programs… on KBC, the National Broadcaster.
* Impose a total ban on the public consumption of alcoholic beverages…
* Impose an immediate ban on women’s public dressing styles that are considered immoral and offensive to the Muslim faith…
Obama's involvement in Kenyan politics, whether tribal or religious, is bothersome.

ReplyDeleteOdinga's terrible, but Obama's not like Odinga.
ReplyDeleteHere's my take:
ReplyDeleteThe "whitey" tape probably doesn't exist. HOWEVER, in the mad rush to find it, somebody--maybe even one of Hillary's crew--may unearth a completely different tape that's almost or equally as bad for Prince Charming.
Shucks, somebody could dig up something even worse. Like, oh say, a tape showing Obama approvingly nodding his head during one of Rev. Wright's patented and trademarked racialist rants.
If something like that mysteriously appears on YouTube, stick a fork in The Prince of Appeasement--he'll be done.
Yet another attempt by the Obama's at piss poor damage control before the fact.
ReplyDeleteTheir attempts at damage control indicate to me that this video exists, it's contents are a campaign killer and there is no way the Obama's or their supporters can get their hands on it to destroy it.
BTW-it will be interesting to see what shite comes out of Michelle Obama's mouth today on "The View".

ReplyDeleteIf you will remember when the infidelity rumor about John McCain came out in the NYTs, McCain took to the podium and answered reporters questions to the point he had to ask "Are there any more questions?" before he left the stage.
If you can't see the difference between responding to the New York Times and responding to "rumors on the internet," I can't help you.
I also find it fairly sleazy to claim Obama "said" the "white folks' greed" quote, when he is reading from a Wright sermon. Attack him for sitting through the sermon and finding it worthy, sure. But he didn't say "white folks." Wright did.
