A Pakistani child was groomed by his religious teachers to become a suicide bomber. He believed he would not be harmed.
The Daily Mail reported:
A teenager seized as he prepared to launch a suicide attack told today how he had been groomed to kill British troops. He believed he would be going back home after his mission.
Shakirullah Yasin Ali, just 14, spoke up in prison two days after three British soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing in Helmand, bringing UK fatalities in Afghanistan to 100.
"If I had succeeded, I would be dead now," he said of his own mission in the town of Khost., where he was captured.
"But those who were instructing me said that if I believed in serving God it was my duty to fight against the foreigners. They said God would protect me when the time came."
Interviewed by The Independent newspaper, Shakirullah added: 'All we were told was the British and the Americans were in Afghanistan and they were killing Muslims.'
The frail Pakistani Pashtun farmer's son is one of the youngest ever suicide bombing suspects.
Despicable! It just shows you that these people who take children and use them as suicide bombers are cowards and truly evil beyond comprehension.
ReplyDeleteWhen the war began, a lot of people would say that we need to understand their culture. We need to grasp as them as people, understand what they represent. We need to research them before we go to their homeland and presume we are doing them good. We need to study their religion, their customs.
ReplyDeleteWhen this is the type of stuff you've read about, along with clothes that cover the entire body, degradation of the female form, and "honor" killings...
I really don't give a fuck about their culture.
Because it's not mine.
Actually, kris, if you study their religion and culture, you will realize that we are really in a clash of civilizations that we need to win to preserve all that we take for granted in our way of life. Understanding their religion and culture is not the same as having to accept it as morally equivalent, because it isn't.
ReplyDeleteMr. Kahn-
ReplyDeleteEver see that cartoon of Bush and some terrorist whacks, setting at a table-- the terrorists are yelling "DEATH TO AMERICA!" and other things-- and the President is talking to a Donkey-headed guy asking "Well, we're talking to them-- when are we allowed to listen?"
I'm all about studying them. Hard to fight what you don't know.
Besides, there MIGHT be some folks who aren't nuts, and it's only good to be polite.
