US Is On the Brink Of Winning Iraq War!

Bush Was Right.
Some will rejoice... Some will eat crow.

The US is on the threshold of WINNING the IRAQ WAR!
The New York Post reported:

AMERICA has won, or is about to win, the Iraq war.

The latest proof came last month, as the Iraqi army - just a few months ago the target of scorn and abuse from Democratic politicians and journalists - forcefully reoccupied three cities that had served as key insurgency bases (Basra, Sadr City and Mosul).

Sunnis and Shias alike applauded as their nation's army compelled insurgent militias to lay down their arms. The country's leading opposition newspaper, Azzaman, led the applause for the move into Mosul - a sign that national reconciliation in Iraq is under way and probably irreversible.

US combat deaths in May also were down to 20, the lowest monthly total since February 2004. The toll for May 2007 was 121.

In a Washington Post interview, CIA Director Michael Hayden said we're witnessing the "near strategic defeat of al Qaeda in Iraq."

The Bush administration has taken heaps of abuse for its Iraq policy, including its decision to launch the "surge" last December. Now the strategy, which our nation's "best and brightest" regularly dismissed as a failure, has cleared the way for the establishment of a secure democracy in Iraq and a lasting peace.

Secretary of the Army Pete Geren gave a eloquant tribute to the good work the army is doing in Iraq at the recent West Point Graduation.

Just think... Only a year ago, one presidential candidate said that genocide was not enough reason to keep US forces in Iraq.

UPDATE: Dean's World has more good news including this:

Iraq isn’t Shangri-La by any means, but by virtually all measures it has improved since 2002 -GDP doubled, potable water access doubled, access to sewage systems doubled, electricity nearly doubled (albeit thanks mainly to private generation), ten times as many phones, one hundred times as many cell phones, internet access from nonexistent to widely available in cafes...

The U.S. Army is doing the lion's share of the work on the ground there. Secretary of the Army Peter Geren's remarks at the recent United States Military Academy at West Point graduation ceremony are an eloquent tribute to these cadets and this Army, that rarely gets the praise it deserves as our greatest national resource.

  3. Maybe President Obama can redeploy the troops to Washington, DC, Baltimore and Detroit to fight the high murder rates in those Democrat enclaves.

It's only through the hard work of the Democratic Party and the Iranians, (which forced Bush to take action) that we can finally start to see victory.

  6. The problem I have is that Obama would have no problem pulling out American troops knowing that bloodshed would follow in Iraq. Even if he was against the war, wouldn't he think that America still had an obligation, if not a responsibility to prevent a genocide by all means, even if it meant staying in Iraq a little longer to make sure the Iraqi people could live in safety. Has he no conscience? What kind of man could have that weighing on his conscience, and still not care?

    "Has he no conscience?"

They (the American Marxists) had none regarding the millions slaughtered in the aftermath of our Democrat-Party/MSM engineered pull-out in Vietnam. Killing Fields, Shmilling Fields!

They got to spit on the troops, got to march them home in shame, pardon the draft dodgers who went to Canada, and party their way through the 70's and 80's on Mai-Tai's, cocaine, and disco music.

I don't know about us winning, but I sure hope the Iraqi people feel like they are. In the end it will be the only we can win, for them and for us. What an adorable picture of that little Iraqi girl.

  11. Good points, Sally. The beauty of this whole thing is that the Iraqi people win to near-precisely the same degree that we do,through a greater opportunity for self-determination and prosperity (not an atypical characteristic of American military actions, which distinguish them from those of essentially any other nation in history). It is they who will be the most direct beneficiaries of our continued success in Iraq.

Yes, the picture of the little Iraqi girl is adorable, and its placement on the page --right after the story about Obama's chillingly cavalier statements on the matter of genocide-- sent a shiver though me at the thought of who would be most hurt if the Democrats manage to elevate that chowderhead to the Presidency.
