US Spokesman Announces Further Troop Cuts From Iraq

A spokesman for the US forces says that more US troops will be heading home soon.
Aswat Aliraq reported:

A spokesman for U.S. forces in Iraq on Wednesday said that a further withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq is on the cards, reiterating his country's assertions that negotiations with Iraq on the long-term security agreement are moving forward.

"Four of the five brigades, which were added to the Multi-National Force (MNF) in Iraq in June 2007, have pulled out. In July 2008, the remaining brigade, along with two Marine battalions, will follow suit," General Kevin Bergner said during a Baghdad-based press conference today.

Bergner said that a further troop withdrawal will be possible after commanders submit their reports about the progress of the security situation to the top commander.

  1. Mark my words: the Iraq war will essentially be over by the time the next president takes office, and if it is Obama, he will take credit for ending the war and won't acknowledge that it has even been won.

as for Obama taking credit, i don't think at least half of America, not to mention the troops, will allow that to happen, nor will the historians!! ;)

Don't worry, Jimmy. The Republicans are gonna beat the Democrats black & blue with Iraq between now & Election Day.

The entire country knows which party it is who's been clamoring to turn tail & run from Iraq for the past four years and which party had the guts to stick it out.

Americans, by & large, don't respect wimps and the don't respect quitters. This is one of the reasons why McCain will win.

I hope we start giving ticker-tape parades to the returning brigades. That will show the American people that we're winning long before Obama can claim it for himself.
