Democratic VP candidate John Edwards was caught meeting his mistress and love child at a hotel in LA this week:
The married ex-senator from North Carolina - whose wife Elizabeth continues to battle cancer -- met with his mistress, blonde divorcée Rielle Hunter, at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night, July 21 - and the NATIONAL ENQUIRER was there! He didn't leave until early the next morning.Knowing democrats, this ought to boost his chances for the VP slot.
Rielle had driven to Los Angeles from Santa Barbara with a male friend for the rendezvous with Edwards. The former senator attended a press event Monday afternoon with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on the topic of how to combat homelessness.
Micky Kaus wonders if this will be the first presidential-contender level scandal to occur completely in the undernews, without ever being reported in the cautious, respectable MSM?

Small fires quickly become big fires. Every child in America is taught this and every public official and American citizen knows this. Every firefighter and police officer knows this, as did the LAPD riot teams in MacArthur Park on May 1.
Now that the dust is starting to settle from the mayhem in MacArthur Park on May Day 2007, an understanding of basic and mob psychology tells us that Lost Angeles is again primed for major riots and destruction on a large scale. While we hope these riots never manifest, the recent actions of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief William Bratton have primed the city for major upheavals. Their actions have provided LAPD officers an incentive not to do their jobs and given pro-illegal alien protesters a political incentive to create larger and more destructive mobs.

Need I remind everyone that this is a non-issue as far as the press is concerned because Edwards cares so much about people.

Why he only met with VillaSalinas to get some tips on how to juggle a wife, a mistress, and a love child to boot. Looks like The Breck Girl took Teflon Tony's advice 'cause he got found out! And by the National Enquirer no less.

It will only become an issue if Lizzy Edwards makes it one. She is the one who has pull with the moonbats in the fever swamps of Kos and DU. I doubt that she would make a big deal of it though. Lizzy Edwards and Hillary Clinton have much in common-both women are in their marriages as a stepping stone to power. In their cases power trumps love.
I guess I am alone here in wondering why the moderator and Kaus. Esq. take the National Enquirer at face value.
I didn't realize Edwards was so desperate. Whew!! That woman's a two-bagger.
