John Edwards's was romping around in the hay while his wife Elizabeth has been battling breast cancer. Edwards insists that he had the affair while her disease was in remission although the news of the affair news broke in October 2007 and his wife's cancer was announced in March 2007.

Today ABC News finally broke the mainstream media silence surrounding the latest Democratic scandal.
ABC reported:
John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.Yeah, right.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.
That sounds like another lie.

Yeah, well, he's making all sorts of weird claims, like some friend has been making those 15K monthly payments without his knowledge, that his family knew about the affair (kids, too?) since 2006, but he broke off the affair in June of 2007, but that's too early for him to have fathered a baby born in late February 2008 (oh, really?), and on and on and on.
Evidently the lying scumbag thinks he can still get away with part of it. I hope this lingers for weeks.
Oh, and I more than eagerly await the spin from KS and others on this one. It's gonna be good. I'm betting they try to call it 'personal' and drag Elizabeth into it.

It seems Edwards had no intention of leaving his wife for his mistress, he was just using his mistress for sex. I mean, wouldn't it be political suicide for him to leave his wife for a mistress. These politicians all have an angle.

Many Mavy marriages end when the husband returns from sea for good. The marriage is fine while the time together is minimal, but falls apart quickly when it's full time. Both sides learn to live without the other, and it's hard to change your life so drastically. From all accounts the split was mutual, and the two are still on speaking terms.

ks - adultery is wrong under any circumstance for everyone, and I could really not give a crap about what Edwards does. Edwards should know that in politics, the grease rises to the top and his affair would become everyone's business. He should have come clean in the beginning, but he chose to take his chances hoping he could keep his affair under wraps and go about his political career unfazed. Then the idiot lies about it - bold face lies. He deserves what he gets is all I can say.
If John McCain were running around trashing John Edwards then drawing comparisons between the two of them might make sense. But he isn't doing that. In the clip I saw, McCain said he had nothing to say about it.
McCain and his first wife separated after some fairly tragic events in both their lives. He started seeing someone else and eventually he and his first wife divorced. It was 25 years ago, before he was even elected to public office. And he's never lied about his personal life. He's said that the mistakes in his first marriage were all his.
If Edwards had had an affair while he was still a trial lawyer and now everybody was trying to make a big deal of it, then yes, it would be a fair comparison. But he did it while he was running for President and lied repeatedly about it.
Personally I think Edwards was never serious about the Presidency and ran because that's what his wife wanted. And this behavior pretty much shows it.
If you're going to compare him to anyone, Eliot Spitzer is the obvious choice. Although at least John Boy didn't have to pay for it, straight up anyway.
The thing I find most interesting about this situation is that it took the MSM an awful long time to try to figure out how to spin this and still they are doing a very sucky job.
In the end this story will end up being more about the glaring bias of the MSM and the sheer lunacy and hypocrisy of the moonbats.
In the case of the former it hammers home the next to the last nail in the MSM coffin. This is the second time this year that they sat on a major story involving a Democrat until they couldn't any longer because the story had been reported on in the blogosphere and they were getting some very uncomfortable questions as to why they were trying to bury the story. It is becoming increasingly obvious to even the most casual observer that the blogosphere is doing a much better job of reporting what is truly news (instead of 24/7 Britany Spears) and the facts behind the news then the overpayed, overprocessed haired MSM.
In the case of the latter it shines a spotlight on their hypocrisy and their schizophrenic narcissism. It highlights the fact that most Liberals are mentally disturbed and have a very tenuous grip on reality. We who frequent blogs like GP's and others have seen this syndrome enough to be quite familiar with it but the general population have not and they will be rather shocked by what they see and hear. As we get closer to the election and it becomes obvious to them that their messiah is a failure you can expect their behavior to only get worse and quite probably violent.

What's really offensive about this story is the way the "news" outlets have covered for Mr. Edwards, a prominent Democrat.
There is no honest rationale for doing so, because they have repeatedly published unfounded allegations of wrongdoing by others.
This story is as much about our lying, cheating mass media as it is about a lying, cheating man.

They published totally unsupported allegations regarding John McCain while they ignored the validity of the John Edward's story.
But the press and democrats go out of their way to turn a blind eye to a host of problems plaguing their members. The only thing democrats can't forgive is membership in the Republican party.
But while saying that, it just makes me scream on how much play they are now giving the story.
Wake me when this is all over because really, I don't give a damn.
