James Taylor a Senior Fellow from the Heartland Institute reported on the record ice cap growth in Antarctica on Hannity and Colmes this week. The video from this very interesting segment is posted HERE.
James Taylor sent this link to The Cryosphere Today, a website run by the University of Illinois. The website shows images of the record ice cap growth this year in Antarctica.
The Cryosphere Today reported:
The Southern Hemisphere sea ice area narrowly surpassed the previous historic maximum of 16.03 million sq. km to 16.17 million sq. km. The observed sea ice record in the Southern Hemisphere (1979-present) is not as long as the Northern Hemisphere. (meaning it has not been tracked as long as the North Pole) Prior to the satellite era, direct observations of the Southern Hemisphere sea ice edge were sporadic.

This is another view of the record ice cap growth.

This chart shows the Southern Hemisphere sea ice area in square kilometers from 1978 to today.
Don't expect anyone to ask the Gorical about this or any of the nine errors in his film while he is in Europe.

So much for global worming. I think the Goreacle has his fingers in his ears right about now.
ReplyDeleteI really do wish that someone could hold everyone's feet to the fire! On the one hand we have NASA saying that the ice pack is diminishing and on the other hand we have the University of Illinois saying that it's increasing. Somebody's lying.
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand the Arctic and Greenland are referenced and on the other hand the Antarctic is referenced.
We need to slap someone silly.
Something else I have never seen mentioned in international reports is that British Columbia had a record snow pack last winter. And Whistler has had an extra early snowfall this fall.
ReplyDeleteActually I think someone is already silly, we need to slap someone unsilly.
ReplyDeleteOf course the amusing thing is that some of this must be continental ice, not floating. If it balances with the current trend of melting of the (floating) arctic ice, the net result would be (drum roll...) a DROP in sea level.
ReplyDeleteAnon.
ReplyDeleteOh horrors, that could only mean one thing (cue drum roll) Nuclear Winter!
OK, maybe not, but we do know that something will happen
. OK, I'll call your period and raise you one..
ReplyDeleteSo, according to the web site, the northern hemisphere ice pack is at minimum and the southern hemisphere ice pack is at a maximum.
ReplyDeleteI hesitate to jump in here, since you're doing a fine job making yourselves look like idiots all on your own, but:
ReplyDelete"It is an effect that has been predicted as a likely result of climate change," said David Vaughan, an independent expert on the ice sheets at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, England.
In a region known for the lowest temperatures recorded on Earth, it normally is too cold to snow across the 2.7 million squares miles of the ice sheet. Any additional annual snowfall in East Antarctica, therefore, is almost certainly due to warmer temperatures, four experts on Antarctica said.
"As the atmosphere warms, it should hold more moisture," said climatologist Joseph R. McConnell at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, who helped conduct the study. "In East Antarctica, that means there should be more snowfall."

it's summer in the northern hemisphere. the cryosphere website says the arctic ice coverage is reaching a historic minimum through melting.
ReplyDeleteit's winter in the southern hemisphere. The cryosphere website says the antarctic ice coverage is reaching a historic maximum.
I'm no global warming expert, but I think I remember that both of these effects are predicted by global warming theory.
I'm confused why this blog is citing this particular webpage as evidence for an ANTI-global warming argument. Reading the linked website made me believe the global warming science is strong.

ReplyDeletethere is a simple explanation for anyone's "confusion".. we are experiencing a Global Warming (although they also predict a Global Cooling at the same time)..
here's the scoop.. albeit whether or not man contributes to it is of miniscule consequences.. as the factual data points to "mother nature" as the cause vs "man made"..
ie: the Earth has gone through more severe global warming cycles previous to industrial revolutions, etc, etc..
try viewing the previous posted clips, the scientists explain it all very well..

Bet you dollars to donuts you've never seen the goracle say sea levels "have" gone up 2.5 feet near miami have you.
As for that drop in sea level have you looked at the charts?
:: coughs :: All my research into claims about global warming and lack of global warming have lead me to believe that humans are stupidly following media campaigns organized by environmentalists designed to scare the shit out of us into supporting them with cash donations. And that on the whole we do not know enough to say if the Earth is warming or cooling, or if we are hallucinating it all due to the urban heat island effect. (My personal opinion is that it's scare mongering, like what happened with DDT, and silicon breast implants. CO2 is good for plants, thus more plants would grow, as more plants grow they alter the albedo of the earth so that it absorbs more heat, as the earth warms up more water evaporates so there is more cloud cover. Clouds reflect or trap a lot of solar radiation, and cause more rain fall. More rain falls is good for the plants, thus they grow more, and thus there is more warming, balanced by more cloud cover, and some of these clouds hail ice on Antarctica which adds an additional cooling effect, and the entire thing acts like a pendulum over decades or centuries. And our scientists, or at least those that the media will qoute, are too busy looking at the trees to see the forest... or maybe they have their heads so far up their nether regions that they are unable to use commonsense to deduct that the entire thing is going to act like a pendulum with temperature fluctuations over decades and centuries. That, and I think an article I read said that carbon dioxide was increasing at all of a whopping 1.9 Parts per million... 1.9 millionths of a percent of the atmosphere... giving carbon dioxide a whopping 380 - 390 parts per million total in the atmosphere. Why do I not see the big danger in such a microscopic increase?
ReplyDeleteHow about a real weather forecast based upon demonstrable past correlations? The two year Atlantic tropical storm deficit (2006 & 2007) combined with the lower than normal temperatures in the Southern Hemisphere in the 2007 southern winter, presage a colder than normal winter period for the Northern winters of 2007-8 and 2008-9.
ReplyDeleteAnyone remember the winters of 1977-8 and 1978-9? The patterns are exactly the same, even as regards the lack of Arctic sea ice in the preceding northern summer.
Wait, you'll see.
I remember driving to Asbury Park, NJ in 1978 to see the frozen ocean. White sea ice from shore to horizon. Never saw anything like it before or since.
I can't wait to hear the global warmingists tell us how the record cold is caused by global warming.
The biggest problem with global warming is the potential for land ice to melt raising sea levels and flooding coastal cities. This is what environmentalists are trying to scare people with. Otherwise, global warming is a much better than global cooling. It is during cooling periods that mankind experienced the worst conditions of crop failures and famine, not warming periods. Few people die because of heat, they die because of cold.
ReplyDeleteHowever, global warming, does not necessarily mean that there will be a melting of ice on land. Warmth brings more humidity and thus more snow. It is so cold in some areas of the world that it rarely snows. Bring a little more warming and voila, there will acutally be more ice and snow in the Antarctic and Greenland than there is now.
The antarctic ice mass is at an all time record size, anyone hear about it on the front page of the news. No you haven't.
The world is actually a bit warmer than in the past, but it is not any hotter. It is just less cold. It is on the cold side it is warmer, not the hot side.
And humidity has its own cooling affect. The Amazon jungle is on the equator yet temperatures rarely get above 90. The clouds and rain tend to keep temperatures under control. So the sky is not the limit for temperatures to rise.
Tim Tucker, i believe your little quotes have no relevance here. People are simply stating the fact that this could just balance out the melting in the northern hemisphere.
ReplyDeleteAnd climate change, is just a stupid way of scientists saying that they were wrong with global warming. Because as we're told, any change in the environment is bad and due to humanity.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Hey Guys, living in Chile you can get to know some interesting facts. Like the NatGeo expedition that had planned to kayak through the melt ice cap on eastern side of the antarctic peninsula (this is happening now), but could not go. Why? you guessed it! It is not melt, but instead is solid as ICE, so they're now going to the west side...
ReplyDeleteHow convenient... If the ice is melting on both Poles, it must be global warming! But if it is increasing, well that can be warming too! They always pull the same tricks. When science doesn't agree, find a way to bend science to fit your theories. These are the same idiots that predicted an incoming ice age in 1971.
ReplyDeleteAnynomous: A definition problem: You say the world is "warmer" but not "hot". The world was maybe one or two degrees C warmer when it was in the holocene optimum 4000-7000 years ago, and I agree mankind, earth and nature was better off then compared with any cooler phases.
ReplyDeleteSo we agree!
I believe we will step by step the coming 20000 years plunge down 10 degrees C, about half a degree every 1000 years. That's inevitably and needs future man to be wise and smart.
I don't believe we can warm the planet with CO2 and if we can it might not be wrong to do it.
It's the toothpast you idiots!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's the Floride not Chlorine in the Toothpaste you idiot's...Goddam I..what.. They have gotten to me already!!!!
ReplyDelete"to capture the public imagination, we have to offer up some scarry scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have. Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective and being honest"
ReplyDelete-Stephen Schneider, lead 2007 United Nations IPCC (international panel on climate change) report author. this is the most highly recognized report on global warming to date.
In case there is any question as to what this statement means, it essentially says i will only tell one side of the story and completely oversimplify and overexaggerate the truth to convince people. (the truth is not important to these people).
Stephen aslo wrote the reports that led to the global-cooling scare of the 1970's which stated we were headed into a new ice age.
Mike H: the University does not say that it's "growing." That's simply the data that this blog chose to show you. If you look at the data for the northern hemisphere on the University's site, you'll see that it is diminishing also. (Hint: the University gets their data from NASA!)
ReplyDeleteYou'll find the University's website doesn't really make any statements about it either way, they just present the data. The meaning of the data was graciously presented to you by your blogmaster, but maybe you should take a look at it yourself and make your own opinion ;)
this illistration brings me to a movie.....hmmm.....what movie......what happen in the Day after Tommorrow......its the northern hemisphere......global warming is such a big trend cause where is its focus......north america....europe......and northern asia......the northern polar caps are still melting.....plus in this pic theres no specific proof of ice growth wears the real pic?.......all i see is purple around antarctica......but hey it was a nice try.......
ReplyDeleteIn 1999 the Illuminati and some Builderbergers had a meeting on a nuclear sub that went under the arctic ice cap. HHHMMM I wonder if they had anything to do with the volcano that erupted there. Roughly the size of Krakatoa. Has been spewing hot lava since. Arctic ice melting? Ya think? Check out global cooling for dummies.
ReplyDelete.
ReplyDeleteThe CNN Meteorologist saying that the Man-Made Global Warming theory is "arrogant" is a great advancement in the cause of educating the masses with the truth. Hopefully more of the MSM will start speaking out. The word is spreading, tell all your friends and family, and tell them to do the same.
Gore and his Man-Bear-Pig. The politicians on board with this scam must be simply out of their minds.
For one thing, there’s plenty of oil and NG, we just need to drill for it and refine it. Also expand and improve nuclear, wind, hydro, solar and hemp fuel.
Can’t anybody talk some sense into Gore, McCain, Bush and Obama about how temperatures rise first, and THEN carbon-dioxide levels rise.
Carbon-dioxide doesn’t cause warming, sun activity does, warming causes CO2 levels to rise.
