Code Pink Radicals & Pro-Military Supporters Collide in Berkeley

Protests in Berkeley...
Pro-Military supporters rallied today for the US Marines...
So did Code Pink.

The Daily Californian reported on the dueling protests:

The women’s anti-war organization Code Pink has demonstrated outside the office every Wednesday since Sept. 26, when it put signs with messages such as “Recruiters Lie, Children Die” on the building. The group says it will continue its protests until the center leaves town.

The group’s actions have prompted a counter-protest planned for today led by conservative groups like Move America Forward.

The office, which serves the northern half of the Bay Area, is perceived as a threat to the community by some city officials and anti-war residents.

“It’s very unfortunate that they opened a recruitment office in Berkeley,” said City Councilmember Linda Maio. “I don’t think it’s appropriate for this town. I don’t think it reflects the sentiments of the citizens.”

  1. Great to see such a grand turnout!

I wouldn't call them 'War supporters,' though I am not sure what a good alternative would be. We HATE war, but we know when we have no choice but to take things to that level in order to defend ourselves.

I can't believe the upside-down flag the code pink are flying. I don't think they have the slightest clue what that really means.

  3. I am surprised that the PRB folk didn't require all those flags to be burned.

In 2001 I published a book of interviews with rock musicians. My publisher tried to get me a reading at one of the biggest, oldest book stores in Berkeley, but we were refused.

The e-mail they sent us said exactly the same thing, that my book wasn't "appropriate for the community" and "didn't reflect the sentiments of the citizens."

They only wanted authors promoting agendas of "social justice," a euphemism for Stalinist crushing of dissent.

Call them troop supporters, that is why they are there to show the Marines that we got their back. With the code pinkos on the loose the marines need somebody watching their back.

    Enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.

  10. I don't think you understand what patriotism is about. It is not about having blind obedience and doing whatever the corrupt leaders in DC want you to do, but doing what is right for the nation, including protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States. If you study what has been happening over the last few years in the country you will understand that the biggest threat to the Constitution is coming from the White House, which is dismantling it amendment by amendment. Today, it is almost gone.

Study 9/11 too. The more you do the more you will see treason within.
