Columbia Professor Blames Noose Incident on Conservatives

(UPDATED BELOW)
You knew this was coming.

We all live in Jena- where white boys get cold-cocked unconscious?

The one group that you can openly bash on American universities (well, besides white males, Jews and Christians) gets blamed for the noose incident at the ultra-liberal Columbia University.
FOX News reported:

An adjunct professor at Wednesday's protest said she has noticed an increase in discriminatory behavior and attributed it to the current political climate in the United States.

"It's horrifying obviously," said Cris Beam, who teaches creative writing. "We're in a culture right now of escalating racism, in an increasingly conservative (environment). We all live in this country, so it seeps in."
Here is the latest on the campus noose incident:

Madonna Constantine
ABC News reported:

Constantine is involved in a lawsuit with another professor at the college, according to court records.
WCBS New York has this: "As for rival professor since professor Constantine is suing for defamation, police say she is not a suspect and has denied any involvement."

Suniya Luthar, a professor of psychology and education at Columbia University, is being sued for defamation, libel and slander and Constantine is seeking damages in "excess of $100,000."

The authorities know that someone with a Columbia University ID and knowledge of TC’s halls is behind the "crime".

UPDATE: Anon below and now the AP are reporting that Columbia University is refusing to hand over the tape of the incident.
Hmm...

UPDATE 2: FOX News has the latest:

Columbia told FOX News that there are no security cameras in professor Madonna Constantine's fourth-floor office or in the hallway, only in the lobby downstairs, and university officials are in the process of giving those tapes to authorities.

"The news reports are untrue. We are giving the tapes to the police," a representative from Columbia's Teachers College, where Constantine is a professor, said in an e-mail.

The source couldn't estimate how many tapes there are or how many the school planned to give to police.
UPDATE 3: Tape is turned over:

Teachers College spokeswoman Diane Dobry said the school wanted to work in "the spirit of cooperation" with police, but privacy laws required it to demand a court order. Since a subpoena was obtained, "We are giving them everything," she said.

  1. Now I don't know if this noose incident is real or not but I am skeptical about professors and "hate crimes."

Recall one Professor Kerri Dunn of Claremont McKenna College.

Professor Dunn vandalized her own car and fabricated a hate crime, of which she declared herself the victim, before the local police discovered her hoax and the actual offenses that she committed in another state.

So you see, this type of thing isn't what it always seems.

I'd have given this Columbia Professor the benefit of the doubt if she wouldn't have made this a partisan issue.

I think we need to demand an investigation into the Professor. What was her involvement in this incident? And is there anyone she may have coerced into collaborating with her to pull off this fake hate crime?

Besides, there is precedent in academia for this type of faux-hate crime.

This is starting to really smell. Columbia officials have refused to turn over the security tapes to the police for investigation. This is now forcing the police to seek warrants so they can continue.

  3. anonymous,

And this surprises you how exactly?

I said yesterday that I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this was staged. I think they Columbia officials know it was, and know that they are liable to be prosecuted for making false claims if they did.

The day when race warriors like Al Sharpton and his ilk can make wild accusations and get away with it are over. Durham did that one in for them.

There is no way that I'm going to believe this "noose" BS. Prove it, Columbia, or stfu.

Good point. Conservatives really are the victims here.

  6. It’s too convenient… leftist professor stages event, gets caught, claims it was to “raise awareness”, of an issue that only exists because of their staged event.

    Lather, rinse, repeat. ad infinitum

  7. coffee260: "I'd have given this Columbia Professor the benefit of the doubt if she wouldn't have made this a partisan issue." She DIDN'T make it a partisan issue. It was ANOTHER PROFESSOR, Cris Beam, NOT Madonna Constantine, the one who had the noose placed on her door, who made the "racist conservative environment" comment. Of course, the person that authored the blog article did all that he could to make you THINK that Madonna Constantine uttered those remarks, didn't he? Now the question that we must ask is ... WHY IS GATEWAY PUNDIT ABSOLUTELY DETERMINED TO PORTRAY THE VICTIM IN THIS INCIDENT IN THE WORST POSSIBLE LIGHT? WHAT AGENDA DOES GATEWAY PUNDIT HAVE? Whatever it is, it certainly is not legitimate conservatism. (Or that is what I THOUGHT legitimate conservatism was when I used to be one before "heck of a job Brownie" George W. Bush drove me out of your little movement).

This "Professor" wrote a book about "microagressions" against "African-Americans" (read: trivial insults in the perceptions of blacks).
Now she has drummed up a lot of attention for the very topic her book is about.
This is a little too "convenient".
It has to be a hoax.

Oh, you are really showing what you are about now. You attack this woman's qualifications by referring to her as "professor." Then you claim that hanging a noose on someone's door amounts to "trivial insults in the perceptions of blacks." Come on, anonymous. Be an adult and provide your name (or at least your website or weblog) and come out and admit that you hate all black people that get out of their place, which is to be cooks, janitors, and other manual laborers. Come on, anonymous coward, come out of the closet, speak your true views, and stand behind them. The truth will set you free. http://healtheland.wordpress.com

  13. bg: OK, the ball is in your court now. Name one racist or hateful thing that I said. As a matter of fact, go to my own blog http://healtheland.wordpress.com and see if you can locate anything racist on it. The truth is that you cannot. As a matter of fact, you cannot refute a single thing that I have said. The reason is that unlike you, I am a mature adult that strives to be responsible, truthful, and accurate in all of my pronouncements, even on the Internet. Why? Because I know that even though the Internet offers anonymity where humans are concerned, NOTHING is anonymous with God. So I may not know who this "healtheland" is, God does. Since I fear God rather than man, that tends to keep me from speaking and acting irresponsibly no matter the forum. So bg, do you believe in God? If so, do you realize that God is watching you? And if so, why aren't you acting like it? You good folks are the ones mocking a woman that had a noose hung on her door, not me. You folks were so ready to convict this woman that the first reply to this thread was attribute to Madonna Constantine comments made by Chris Beam. Who was the first person to point that out? Why me, the only responsible person concerned with actual facts rather than slanders and innuendo on this thread, it appears!

it's also apparent that you have a superiority
complex, better get that in check, as God is
    the superior entity, not you..
