Klein Verzet continues to report on the sixth night of violence in Western Amsterdam including more video.
The police station was attacked by young Muslims after the young Moroccan youth and knife attacker was shot dead by the female police officer on Sunday. (Telegraaf)
The torchings continue in Amsterdam after the death of a violent young Muslim who stabbed two police officers last Sunday.
One News reported:
Disturbances broke out for a sixth successive night in an immigrant quarter of Amsterdam on Saturday when four cars were set on fire, police said.Previously:
The unrest started after police shot dead a man of Moroccan origin last weekend who had stabbed and injured two officers.
Saturday's fires brought the total number of burnt cars to 11, a police spokesman said.
The 22-year-old Moroccan had been undergoing treatment for psychiatric problems and had in the past been questioned over contacts with Islamic militants linked to the murderer of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh.
The Netherlands is home to about 1 million Muslims out of a population of 16 million. Most live in the big cities.

ReplyDeleteI don't think you guys are being fair to the Dutch. I live here, and I'm as red as they come. One of my friends is a prosecutor of illegal immigrants (yeah, they actually prosecute them up here), and in my experience, actual attitudes towards Morrocan boys is unfriendly: Morrocans are often involved in crimes, and the Dutch know it. Remember, Pym Fortyn pushed for "integration" of immigrants, making sure they know and understand the language and values of the dutch (before he was assassinated by a left winger), and his party had overwhelming support after his death before it collapsed due to lack of leadership. Even so, today integration is a big deal (I went through a course myself). Geert Wilders (a slighty nutty right-winger who wants to ban the Koran and thinks Turkey is the enemy) has considerable (and growing) support in the country as well, and believe me, he and his party are no friends to muslim immigrants.
ReplyDeleteFurther, I get the impression the ousting of Ayaan had more to do with Dutch love of bureaucratic procedure than her stance of islam. Even so, booting her cost Rita Verdonk her job, her position in her party (the VVD), and nearly her seat in parliment.
The Dutch are far from perfect, but a bunch of pansy appeasers they are not. They have a trend towards neutrality (because they're a small country), they are more left-winged then we are (political discussion are... fun), they have a crazy fetish for gun control (TASERS are illegal here @.@ ), and they have a knee-jerk hatred of Bush, but this particular case? Isn't because they've been bowing to muslim power recently, no sir.

I have relatives in Germany that I have visted dozens of times over the last thirty years and the, "Turkey is the enemy" seems to be a pretty apt description from my own experiences...

Note what's posted over at Jihad Watch: The situation was substantially exacerbated by successive governments that chose to ignore what people in the streets knew was an increasingly serious problem. For years, political correctness dictated that problems with migrant children could not be openly discussed. Anybody trying to do so would be accused of blatant racism and Islamophobia.
