Musharraf Says Pakistan Comes First & Declares Emergency Rule

With extremism on the rise and suicide bombings in every major city, Pakistani President Musharraf declared emergency rule yesterday.
Musharraf said that terrorists were not afraid to go anywhere in the Pakistan today.
Here Musharraf explains his decision:

The national emergency may delay Pakistani elections for up to a year.

The Corner reported that violence was certainly picking up in Pakistan in the last few weeks although it was not getting much coverage.

The bombings that shattered former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's return from exile killed over 136 Pakistanis in October.

Pajamas Media has a roundup on the action.

    Musharraf suspends constitution,
    declares state of emergency

    Pakistan's Second Coup

something tells me there's a hell of
a lot more to this than speculated..

of course the Pakistani backlash re: Barack Hussein Obama's "attack Pakistan" declaration has absolutely nothing to do with
it, especially considering the fact that he's a presidential candidate for 08.. gah!!

  2. Yes, bg, there is alot more to the situation then meets the eye.

I think that Musharraf and those who control Pakistan have reached pretty much the same point that the Saudis have. That is that they have now come to realize that the monsters they have created and nursed are totally out of control. 10 years ago they were only a danger to anyone who wasn't Muslim and the west, now they are trying to take power away from those who created them.

The situation is more dire in Pakistan then it is in Saudi and Musharraf's position is more precarious.

Add to that the situation in Iran. They all know that the crap is going to hit the fan there in a BIG way, and they do not want to be "collateral damage". Islamofascists pulling a bunch of crap just might encourage the NATO forces to clean up the neighborhood while they are there. Or even worse in Pakistan's mind-encourage China to act in it's best interests. China is paving a freeway all the way to the Aral Sea because they are exploring for oil there and importing it. They have invested alot in the 'stans and the last thing they would like to see is a the slopping over commode of Islamofascism disrupt their plans. China likes biting off big chunks of the India/Pakistan. They have done it before and once they do that they don't give it back. Ever.

One other thing that may be going through Musharraf's mind is India. India understandably hates Pakistan. An unstable Pakistan with the appearance that it (and it's nukes) may fall into the hands of the Islamofascists is something that only the LLL moonbats and the Democrats would think is alright. China and India might both jump on Pakistan which would make Russia just a teeny-weeny insecure. That is another pleasant thought about the situation. What would Russia do in this situation?

  3. One other thought that probably doesn't have much to do with this situation but it could become a factor.

The British people have reached to Popeye point with the lovely Islamist "immigrants" that the Labour party rammed down their throat. I give it less then a year before you see them start to forcibly repatriate alot of those Islamists one way or another. Not only that but cut off welfare payments to them. The vast majority of Islamist "immigrants" in Britain come from where? You got it, Pakistan.

Former ISI chief Hamid Gul arrested

    excerpts:

[Former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Hamid Gul
was arrested here on Sunday in continuing crackdown by the government in emergency-ruled Pakistan.]

[In the weeks before the imposition of emergency, Gul had been at the centre of a controversy after media reports suggested that he was one of the persons named by former premier Benazir Bhutto as posing a threat to her life.

Bhutto had named at least four such persons in a letter written to Musharraf two days before her return to Pakistan from self-exile on October 18, but she never publicly identified them.]

yep, there's lots more to this..
